Addison Holmes is a diamond in the rough, though she’s feeling more like a big lump of coal. Teaching history in Whiskey Bayou, Georgia isn’t exactly the most exciting job. Until she finds her principal dead in the parking lot of the seedy gentleman’s club. When Addison finds herself out of a job, she turns to her best friend, Kate, who owns the McClean Detective Agency. Addison is a natural at … natural at the job. Living in a small town has given her all the skills she needs to spy on other people and pass silent judgment. Sometimes being nosy has its advantages.
When her principal’s murder reveals more Whiskey Bayou secrets than people are comfortable with, the suspect list grows longer than Addison’s arm. Fortunately, the detective in charge seems more than capable of finding the killer and driving her crazy at the same time.

Addison’s high jinxes were outright hilarious! First page had me laughing and it continued throughout the book. The author also kept her suspect a mystery until the very end. I was not expecting the guilty party. Nick was a great romantic interest.
I like these Whiksey books. They are easy to read and have fun characters.
I hated this book so much, I couldn’t even finish it.
It may appeal to some readers, trying to be a whimsical look at a character that is completely useless, but it is written from a “First person” perspective. Within the first five pages, I didn’t like the protagonist, as I can’t accept that any person, male or female, is that ditzy.
It is …
Amusing but totally unrealistic scenarios and way too much time spent on foreplay
sex in a church, really?
It was just ok.
ok, but not exciting
The storyline is great, it keeps your attention. There are enough twists and turns to keep you reading and wanting more.
An air head main character won’t give up her fancy car to live in a leak free, mold free apartment. She stumbles through the story until the murderer is found.
A young and bored history teacher tries to make some extra money first by stripping (which ends up as a disaster) and then by working for her friend’s private eye firm taking pictures of cheaters, etc. She ends up getting hurt and meeting a handsome detective that shares quite a bit of chemistry with. A fun read!
A little hard to believe a detective would let a civilian know so much about an investigation, even if he is trying to take her to bed. Still a good, lightweight mystery.
Excellent!
Great book, and I will definitely be reading the others in this series.
Characters and storyline was what kept me reading. Already looking into next of the continuing tale.
Loved this story and the great sense of humor…..great job and great mystery.
An entertaining story and good characters. This book makes me want to read the other books in the series.
Funny and entertaining
Could not get past the characters. Did not finish the book. Just didn’t keep me held there. Sorry.
This is a good one. I love the whole series.
I felt at odds with this main character. Portraying someone this messed up as a school teacher is upsetting.
