Addison Holmes is a diamond in the rough, though she’s feeling more like a big lump of coal. Teaching history in Whiskey Bayou, Georgia isn’t exactly the most exciting job. Until she finds her principal dead in the parking lot of the seedy gentleman’s club. When Addison finds herself out of a job, she turns to her best friend, Kate, who owns the McClean Detective Agency. Addison is a natural at … natural at the job. Living in a small town has given her all the skills she needs to spy on other people and pass silent judgment. Sometimes being nosy has its advantages.
When her principal’s murder reveals more Whiskey Bayou secrets than people are comfortable with, the suspect list grows longer than Addison’s arm. Fortunately, the detective in charge seems more than capable of finding the killer and driving her crazy at the same time.

This book was a hoot! If one person could have only bad luck and still win, this is it.
I didn’t expect to read a tell-all sex escapade. Way more detailed sex than I need in a mystery story, or any other story for that matter. Otherwise the girl’s flaky character was funny.
Tried to be too funny but was a low quality write. Don’t bother with this one. A waste of time. Almost insulting. Really bad plat and story line. Only mystery here is why I read entire book.
Good plot, but unnecessary vulgar language
Somewhat like Janet Evanovich books – just not as well written. Good for a light romance, funny, mystery.
I have owned this book for 2 years. It was so good that I read it a second time.
I enjoyed the entire series. Well developed characters, although pretty predictable.
I never had a fun history teacher like this book character. Murder has never been so hilarious. Loved this book. It was so nice to laugh so hard during this trying time.
The main character was way too focused on sex. I’d rather read something that depends on good characterization and an interesting story line.
This book was well written, interesting , and a very good read
I loved Addison, the lead character. She reminded me of the Pink Panther in a way. She bumbled across several critical clues and was ever so lucky in surviving her mistakes or misfortunes. I was pulling for her to experience the ecstasy she envisioned with Nick. Addison’s mom proved to be an interesting character as well.
Book was good and love the author.
I don’t like when the author makes the main character soooo stupid.
Delightfully funny.
please don’t pick this book up and start reading late in the day because you won’t put it down until you finish!! i read “who done it” all the time and this book i didn’t figure out until i finished it. loved this story
Light and enjoyable read. The twists of humour had me chuckling. I will read more of this author
So love this series….can’t wait to read the next!!
I enjoyed this book. Addison is a fun, witty character with questionable decision making skills. She sees her own weaknesses very clearly. This combination makes for entertaining reading.
Great read. You won’t be able to put it down just waiting to see what Addison well get up to next.
This was a really original, book with great characters and I loved the plot. Very well written and easy to read. I highly enjoyed it and recommend it
