Addison Holmes is a diamond in the rough, though she’s feeling more like a big lump of coal. Teaching history in Whiskey Bayou, Georgia isn’t exactly the most exciting job. Until she finds her principal dead in the parking lot of the seedy gentleman’s club. When Addison finds herself out of a job, she turns to her best friend, Kate, who owns the McClean Detective Agency. Addison is a natural at … natural at the job. Living in a small town has given her all the skills she needs to spy on other people and pass silent judgment. Sometimes being nosy has its advantages.
When her principal’s murder reveals more Whiskey Bayou secrets than people are comfortable with, the suspect list grows longer than Addison’s arm. Fortunately, the detective in charge seems more than capable of finding the killer and driving her crazy at the same time.

Easy read and hysterical. I love the way she writes and I laughed out loud over and over.
This book is a really nice, funny read. You will laugh throughout. This book has great pacing just as one part of the adventure cools, Addison finds more trouble to get in. I started with the #1 book from the freebies list. I’m on #3 and I will purchase and enjoy the whole Whiskey series. Great dialogue and fun characters. Moves well from book to book. Lots of laugh out loud moments.
I really enjoyed this book. It was easy to read. I found myself laughing and smiling a lot during the book. The plot was great. I loved the main characters and those she was surrounded by. I want to read more from this series and this author.
Addison Holmes is perfect! Well, she’s really NOT, which is what makes her that way. Falling out of trees, hitting her head on the car door, or buying a great dress (and the shoes of course).
Addison caught her fiancé with another woman. In the limo. At their wedding. She’s just trying to start over. Which is not easy in small town Georgia; …
Funny as all get out ! Addison and her detective steamed up the pages so much I almost blushed. Really enjoyed the way that Addison was like you and me (everyday people) stumbling through life and embarrassing the crap out of herself. I really hope the rest of the series is as good.
Great start to a wonderful series that fans of Janet Evanovich will love!

The “Tupperware party” made me laugh out loud. Addison is an endearing lunatic.

Truly enjoyed this first book in this series. Highly recommend it.
Add one half star. This was a decent two day read. Pleasantly steamy with an ending that was not telegraphed by mid point. I will probably get the next one to see what happens.
Love Liliana Hart, this series is great.
