Addison Holmes is a diamond in the rough, though she’s feeling more like a big lump of coal. Teaching history in Whiskey Bayou, Georgia isn’t exactly the most exciting job. Until she finds her principal dead in the parking lot of the seedy gentleman’s club. When Addison finds herself out of a job, she turns to her best friend, Kate, who owns the McClean Detective Agency. Addison is a natural at … natural at the job. Living in a small town has given her all the skills she needs to spy on other people and pass silent judgment. Sometimes being nosy has its advantages.
When her principal’s murder reveals more Whiskey Bayou secrets than people are comfortable with, the suspect list grows longer than Addison’s arm. Fortunately, the detective in charge seems more than capable of finding the killer and driving her crazy at the same time.

The entire ‘Whiskey’ series is great.
Hilarious misadventures of an amateur sleuth.
Beach read.
An absolutely terrific start to a series that I know I am going to love. Great writing
great southern vernacular that just adds to the character of the whole read!!! i will definitely be reading the series.
This is a great series. I don’t usually binge read, but couldn’t stop myself from reading all the books in the series, one after the other. Addison is such an entertaining character and she gets into some really funny situations.
Not so good.
loved book….interesting and fast read
Reminiscent of Janet Evonovich’s style. I will definitely read the rest of the series.
A lot like Janet Evanovich’s plumb books.
This was the second book I’ve ever read by Liliana Hart. I loved the first one that I read by her about JJ Graves that’s why I felt compelled to get this book. However the main character I cannot stand. Addison Homes is a clumsy moron. She’s stubborn as hell, and it’s just really annoying how literally every single chapter she ends up hurting …
I enjoyed this Addison Holmes story. I will be back for more. reminiscent of Janet Evanovich, ala Stephanie Plum.
Will finish just to see the ending, but won’t read any more by this author. A lot of unbelievable dialog.
I’m a fan of Janet Evanovich, but I just didn’t care for the main character, Addison Holmes, in this book. maybe she was too similar to Plum. But this book wasn’t as well done as Evanovich’s. Not for me, but might be entertaining for others.
I typically like books with more complex story lines, but I really enjoyed this. While there was a crime to be solved, the main character kept me giggling and wondering what she would do next. I also enjoyed the setting of the Deep South. I liked the book so much I had to buy the sequel.
I really enjoyed the story & the characters. Addison was adorable & always in a fix. Nick is the perfect foil for her & he has her completely unbalanced. I’m looking forward to more of these two in future reading.
4 stars
More chick lit than mystery, I did enjoy the humor and story. There were a lot of moments where I questioned the characters behavior, especially Addison. Hopefully she becomes a more consistent character in the next book.
Liliana Hart is one of my favorite authors. So far I’ve read 3 of the Madison Holmes series and loved all three of them.
