Take a risk.Do something drastic.Fall in love. When Amberlyn Reilly loses her mother, her whole world comes crashing down. Having been caretaker to her for most of her teenage years, Amberlyn is inexperienced in many aspects of life. She hasn’t had time to live, have fun, or enjoy even the little things. It’s only when a letter from her mother, asking her to fulfill three things, sends her off to … things, sends her off to Ireland to live a life she never thought possible that she begins to heal.
Declan O’Callaghan was born and raised in Ireland and has his family’s legendary whiskey in his veins. He’s shy and not a fan of the pressure and spotlight that comes with his family name, or the title he was given at birth—the Whiskey Prince. Declan knows just what he wants and that is to take over the family dynasty, but when his father gives him an ultimatum, everything he’s worked for could come undone in the blink of an eye.
With six months to get married, the reclusive Declan spots Amberlyn across a lake and instantly feels the need to know her. Soon, the two find themselves traveling down a path neither expected. However, like any road, there are bumps and side streets to derail them. Can Declan help find the pieces that will make Amberlyn whole again? And will Amberlyn stay or run when she learns of Declan’s deadline of marriage?

Becoming the Whiskey Princess (Taking Risks Book 2)
I’m so used to hockey romance with Toni Aleo and for some reason I kept putting this one aside. I’m glad I finally dove it. I really enjoyed Amberlyn and Declan’s story. I REALLY loved the setting in Ireland as it is one of my favorite places. Amberlyn’s life hasn’t been easy but her mom imparted some wise words to her – top of the list…take a risk. She didn’t know what path that risk would take but she was open to any an all chances to take that risk. Some worked out better than others. Meeting Declan was never on her radar. And Declan-well he has his own issues to deal with and whether or not Amberlyn is the path to dealing with those issues remains to be seen. I’m looking forward to book 2 when I get a moment to find out where everything will lead for these two.
Make sure
You have a few tissues ready for this story. It has you loving the characters from the start. Amberlyn has lost so much in her 20 years but can still find the good in world. Declan has been given a choice from his family to get married or loose the distillery. But when he first sees her, he is enamored now he is finally coming out of his shell.
I liked this book and will read more by this author!
So different from Toni Aleo’s other books but I loved every minute.
I really liked the story between Amberlyn and Declan but was a little disappointed with the third book although it was still entertaining…
A really sweet story with great supporting characters
It wasn’t the type of romance I enjoy–didn’t like the language.
I loved everything about it
With more character development this would be much better. I just couldn’t connect to them
Started off slow but it turned into an ok book. Quick read.
I don’t know if it was the Irish setting, the brogue, the characters or the storyline itself but I really enjoyed this book it was one I didn’t want to put down.
Predictable and boring
Liked this book
Can’t abide reviews that don’t let reader know its not a standalone.would have been a four otherwise
This was my first go at this author. The book wasn’t bad but some things that happened and the way the characters came off sounding they should have been much older than they were written as. Such as out H knows the ins and outs of the whisky business and he’s only 22? He made his own batch that was like 5 years old? I think when alcohol is involved, even in Ireland because they take it very serious there (I’ve been a few times), the character should have been a tad bit older. They whole book bothered me with the ages. The h’s age was fine but then make the guy a little older and wiser. It wasn’t a bad story, no sex, small touches here and there, that was fine, but it needed more than some kids in their very early 20’s trying to run a whisky distillery. I just couldn’t get past some plots, very unbelievable.
It was okay. Sorry to the author, but the way Declan talked was unrealistic. It was sappy romantic talk like you would expect in the olden days. No guy in this day and age would talk like that. It really bothered me the way he talked so “romantic” all the time. If a guy did that nowadays he’d be considered creepy and the girl would run the other way.
I just couldn’t get into this book! I don’t need to read two people saying the f bomb 10 times per page…it’s pathetic if you can’t find better words to describe what is happening in your book without swearing that much
Predictable, didn’t seem like the author had been to Ireland, even though the strory was supposed to be there. No 90 degree days there!
Good book but I doubt the Irish use this language in everyday conversation
