“Totally captivating!” – Natasha is a Book JunkieShe was the one thing holding him together. Until she was gone. And then there was whiskey.Fallon Gentry has spent the last decade reliving one dark night in his head. The moment he lost the woman he loved when a single blink cascaded into a series of events that stole both of their lives. Now his nights are spent playing music in southern … their lives. Now his nights are spent playing music in southern honky-tonks and nursing the memory of her the only way he knows how-at the bottom of a whiskey bottle.

He’s her contradiction, she’s his salvation.
A firestorm of emotion consumes them when they come together after ten lost years, every moment more revealing, more unpredictable, more intoxicating than the next until the only reckoning left for Fallon is the one he must make with himself. This one of those books that sucks you in right from the start.
Whiskey Girl is in my top 5 of the year. Its absolutly everything you could want in a book.
Sweet, sad, romantic, heart wrenching and so much more.
Missing his only love who just disappeared one night leaves Fallon Gentry living his life as a singer nothing but lonely and angry. Thinking his sunshine has just upped and left. It couldnt have been further from the truth.
Augusta Belle was only 15 when she fell for the older guy. Thinking nobody knew about them, until one night everything changed for the worse.
This book will give you every emotion possible. It will tear your heart out and make you smile. As well as every damn thing in between. The twists and turns will leave you wanting more from these amazing characters. I wish the book were longer.
Well written, great characters, an all around amazing book. 10/5 if I could.
This story will have you front and center along Fallon’s emotional journey after the loss of Augusta in his life. They were very close but life and people tore them apart and the only way Fallon was ale to deal was with the use of alcohol. Now Augusta has found him and their reconnection is painful but after the storm, will they rekindle what they lost and move forward towards a happily ever after?
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I am totally kicking myself! This book has been on my kindle for quite some time and I’m just now reading it!! Adriane Leigh has surpassed any expectations I had for this book! She painted a picture so vivid with her words and with such detail that I literally expected to feel a southern breeze on my skin.
She was silky and sensual, smoky on the lips, warm on the tongue, smooth on the way down. She was whiskey. And I was hooked.
I am so in love with Fallon and Augusta Belle! If you could take the feeling of tranquil Southern Sundays and rainy days lounging with the one you love, lace it with a bit of southern rock, throw in a bit of angst, a little witty banter, and two heartbroken souls and turn it into a book, that would be Whiskey Girl. From page one I was drawn into the laid back southern vibe that infuses this amazing story. It was everything I could want in a slow burn romance.
Fallon was a raw, gritty, I-am-who-I-am musician that spent his days fighting off old memories and surviving on whiskey. Augusta Belle was an adrenaline-fueled ball of fire filled with quick comebacks. The tragic beauty that was their past haunted them until the truth finally brought them back together in a whirlwind of secrets and betrayals.
My heart broke for these two and the journey they had to walk in order to find the future they should have had in the beginning. But with any story full of sacrifice and tears, the ending is that much sweeter and Whiskey Girl is no exception. Everything about Whiskey Girl was sweet southern poetry for the soul. I’m only sad that it ended and now I have no idea what to do with myself! Well done Adriane Leigh!
I love small town romance.
Young lover growing up together, make plans of forever then something happens and they drift apart.
When the love of his life walks back in after disappearing with no word he’s not exactly happy. Where has she been all this time? He’s frustrated with her because she is not forthcoming with this information.
I do like the fact that you want to keep reading to find out the whys. When you do eventually find out, it’s very sad something she couldn’t control.
Just when things start looking up, they are hit with another setback that could derail everything.
Whiskey Girl is a beautiful second chance love story. As soon as I read the blurb I knew it was going to be an emotional and riveting read. The characters Fallon Gentry and Augusta Belle Branson were two lost souls, however when they were together they made eachother’s heart and soul’s complete. I like the way this author writes a story, you will remember it long after it’s done.
Fallon Gentry has gone through his fair share of heartache yet he made it to the top of the music charts and then decided to give it all up. His inspiration for his songs came from his past and the girl who suddenly disappeared from his life when he thought they had it all.
Augusta Belle Branson met Fallon one night when she hit rock bottom and Fallon saved her life. He was there for her constantly and gave her hope for her own future until the day she was gone.
Now 10 years later Augusta has tracked Fallon down and needs his help but will Fallon give her the time of day after what happened. As the two slowly begin to discuss their pasts will they be able to find a way to forgive and move on?
This is such a beautifully written book filled with heartache and love.
Fallon was such a great character who experienced true heartache after losing Augusta suddenly. I loved that he was able to make something of himself and I truly admired the reason behind giving it all up. He was still stuck in the past though and turned to Whiskey mostly to drown out memories of the past.
Augusta was another great character as her family had their own issues where as someone from the outside may have thought her life was amazing. I loved the realism with how much her parent’s fighting affected her and I truly admired her for going home to help with her mom, even after how much her parent’s cost her.
I loved the way that things came together so slowly and how they each had their chance to discuss the past and everything that happened. They had to work hard at communicating with each other and getting over a lot of hurt from the past. There were still so many ups and downs that they faced but as we learned more things began to fall into place.
I guessed part of the reason Augusta left although that wasn’t initially even part of it and I was mad when more came out of that and the whole truth was revealed after speaking with Calvin Hill. I thought Calvin was amazing and he did so much for Augusta and Fallon.
The end was amazing and I am so happy with this book!!
Whiskey Girl is a beautiful, heart-wrenching, wonderful story of second chances. Fallon and Augusta Belle were from different worlds and complete opposites. But it was Augusta Belle’s rebel heart that called to Fallon, along with the sunshine she brought to his life. When she disappeared one tragic night, the darkness was too much for him. Now Augusta Belle is back, and so is her light. But she also has secrets that could tear them apart for good. Fallon wars with his head and his heart, trying to decide if he is strong enough to fight for her. This story is told in flashback sequence revealing a sweet, but heartbreaking story over years of loss and life and love. Ms. Leigh’s writing is so poetic, weaving this story seamlessly with melodic music and smooth whiskey. True to it’s core, this story will rock you and take you on an emotional ride that you won’t soon forget.
Fallon Gentry may be from the wrong side of the tracks but he’s a gentleman and a good guy nonetheless. He had my heart from the start. Augusta Belle Branson may come from money, but her home life sucks. Flipping between past and present sets the scene for this emotional ride of second chances. Both hearts breaking trying to find what’s been missing since being torn apart. The story is as smooth as the whiskey in the title and a sweet read.
Whiskey Girl is a really great read. Fallon and Augusta have a crazy past. They loved each other then Augusta left without a word to Fallon. Augusta is back and has found Fallon. Fallon is not very happy to see her at first. I kind of felt Fallon was really harsh to Augusta when she came back. She is strong and persistent and even though Fallon is jerky she doesn’t back down. This one is a slow burn read that had me hooked from the beginning. Chapter after chapter we get more info on what happened to Fallon and Augusta. My heart went out to them. As the layers and secrets come out I started to like Fallon more and more and was rooting for them to get a happy ever after.
Whiskey Girl is a beautiful yet emotional 2nd chance at love romance. It’s about a country singer/songwriter and his muse/ soul mate. They were young lovers who thought it would be them against the world yet that wasn’t the case. Fallon Gentry came from the wrong side of the tracks and barely had a dime to his name but he loved his Augusta Belle. It seemed her family didn’t want her with him yet they didn’t care- it seemed their futures looked bright and they had love on their side. Tragically, things went wrong for these two. And Fallon’s reason for living goes right with Augusta. She just up and disappeared and Fallon couldn’t find her. For 10 years Augusta Belles disappeared from Fallon’s life and then the two are finally reunited again. The story is told in a 1st person POV and it flashes from present to past at first. This story will have you needing tissues , and also asking where did sunshine go? There are many questions that I had starting out while reading Fallon and Augusta Belle’s love story – and when the questions are finally answered, wow! There are twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. What seemed the end of the road was the beginning to a whole new chapter and verse and what a beautiful and uplifting; and this story was just so well -written. Yes, at times it was heart wrenching and sad but the end was so beautiful and just right and ends with a fabulous HEA.
My Rating: 4.7 stars *****
“I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me.”
I feel like I just took a journey with some old friends as they told me story of how they found love together. Fallon is living his life inside a whiskey bottle as he plays honky tonk bars to feed his passion of music. It was crazy to me that he found success in Nashville but walked away then as the story unfolds, it made perfect sense. To me, it takes a strong character to stand up for what you want and not conform, he shows this in spades. Augusta is that girl that got away or did she. When Augusta shows up back in Fallon’s orbit after having disappeared years ago, we finally get to learn the true anguish they both dealt with over the years and the depth of the love that they both have for each other. This is a slow burn romance that drew me in and kept it’s hooks in me to unravel all the secrets. To see this love survive all the challenges, road blocks and struggles they both faced shows how strong love truly is when you believe and let yourself accept it. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
