Whiskers and Bear were two of the best dogs in the world. They didn’t always listen or even try to listen, but they were loyal to a fault, and they were the best of friends. They hunted all of their food, and they protected our animal sanctuary with no regard for their own safety.
This book is very entertaining as it explains the mannerisms of mainly two dogs. Dogs who have a mind of their own, who will NEVER be ‘owned’ by a human person. Whiskers and Bear have the most amazing personalities. They have ‘picked’ the home of the Sanctuary as a place that needs their protection and guidance. I knew reading this from the beginning I was going to cry, I am a sucker for dogs anyway , but these two know no fear or boundaries. In the end, I was right. Crying my eyes out . The author did a beautiful job of writing this book. I hope there are more from the Sanctuary Tales. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
I was very excited to get a chance to read these true stories about two unique, independent, self sufficient dogs, who even had their own method of hunting food, so the only thing they wanted was…
They first meet when Bear demands his biscuit toll. I was sucked in from the very beginning.
Talk about personality…Bear reeks of it. He is definitely the master of his domain.
Animals do communicate. Wonder what your pet’s thinking? Watch, listen, learn.
Giacomo Giammatteo watched and learned, then came up with these fabulous tales of the two unique dogs that had me smiling, laughing out loud, and oohing and aahing at their antics. They stole my heart and I think they will steal yours too.
Wonderfully written, easy reading, entertaining true stories of animals, especially highlighting two very unique individuals of the canine variety.
Of course, we do have some sad and scary bits, but that is life. We have to take the good with the bad, otherwise we wouldn’t know the difference.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Whiskers and Bear by Giacomo Giammatteo.

Best animal stories since James Herriot
What a lovely book! The author’s keen insights and love for animals shines clear from every page, and these fascinating anecdotes of life in an animal sanctuary make it clear – those rescued animals love him back. Whiskers and Bear are two of the canines at the sanctuary. Two unique and wonderful dogs, they claim their territory at the ranch, and in the hearts of the author and his wife. They leave their own special lasting imprint on the tires of UPS trucks, on the property they protect, the animals they befriend (or harass) and the people they love. Be prepared for laughter, and a few tears as you read their story, and know that just by buying and reading this book, you are supporting that same animal rescue, the same property, animals, and people that Bear and Whiskers loved and protected all their lives. I’m reviewing an ARC (thanks, Hidden Gems), and it is my voluntary, independent, and uncompensated opinion that the more of us who read this book, the better our world will be. Because love is like that.
Oh my goodness! This wonderful tale of two dogs who were the best of friends and took ownership of their neighbourhood, took my heart by storm. Although a relatively short read, I found that I didn’t want to miss a word, just in case I overlooked some kernel of wisdom from the world of dogs. As I neared the end of the book, I found it difficult to read because I was furiously wiping my eyes as the tears poured down my face. And yet, I was left with a warm feeling as the final chapter closed. Beautifully written and emotive, this is a feel-good book that enriches the spirit. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
