From best-selling author Melanie Summers comes an irresistibly romantic, delightfully funny tale of love, passion, books, and food… Bay, she’s shuffled off to the resort’s new private island getaway, where she’ll be stuck catering to the rich and shameless. Her first assignment is to serve Pierce Davenport, an infuriatingly arrogant writer with a palate that’s about as adventurous as a plain boiled potato.
Pierce Davenport is living every author’s dream—his critically-acclaimed Clash of Crowns books have been turned into one of the world’s most-watched television series. The only problem is, he has no idea how to end the epic fantasy tale. After two long years, his fans are turning on him, his publisher is panicking, and the network executives have announced they’re hiring a team of scriptwriters to finish (a.k.a. ruin) his legacy for him.
In dire need of solitude, he escapes to the Island of Eden for two distraction-free months so he can pull off the impossible—write an entire novel from start to finish. All he wants is peace and quiet, but when disaster strikes, he’s forced to rely on irritating-but-beautiful Emma to deliver more than just three meals a day.
Putting Pierce and Emma together is like combining orange juice and toothpaste. Will their differences be their ruin or will they be the secret ingredient to each other’s success?

Melanie Summers is becoming a fast favorite with me!
‘ Whisked Away’ Book #2 in the Paradise Bay series is a comedic, heart pumping, eyes wide open festival of feels.
Her lucky readers get to bask in all its fictional glory!
I know I am good with that!
Emma and Peirce are all over the place! Their goals are set high- and it lands them both on Paradise Bay. Chips on shoulders in place and sizzling chemistry on the side, they’re about to embark on summer of hilarious banter, mammoth Iguanas, meddling families, and a story that only they could write!
A fantabulous smile, a minute romance that I could not put down!
Super cute and an easy read
i have read books that make me smile but this book has laugh out loud scenes.
I really liked this book and will look for other books by this author to read.
Beware of biting, breakfast stealing iguana’s. Review of Whisked away.
Emma Banks has graduated from a very prestigious culinary school and is looking forward to taking over one of many of her brothers business. Sadly, that plan falls through and Emma is banished to a remote island in the British Virgin Islands. She is to be a personal chef for the very posh writer Pierce Davenport who writes for “The clash of crowns” an extremely popular sci-fi series soon to be a NBO original series. Pierce needs this time to finish his book series properly or it will be delegated to new writers who he thinks will ruin it. Pierce is immediately smitten with his new chef however considers her a terrible distraction. Emma thinks he is an insufferable pompous, egotistical ass whom she must endure these many months. I loved this book! It was hilarious and fun to read. I didn’t want it to end. I wanted more pages. To read. Lol. I loved how sassy Emma was even when she was being polite. I laughed at loud at the whole flashing her middle finger at the intercom when Pierce summoned her. Who hasn’t done that to a hated boss? Lol. This is my first time reading this author and will not be my last. I’m off looking for more of her book an on Amazon to read. I received though nook as ARC from Hidden Gems in exchange for an honest review.
What a delightful book! Emma Banks has just finished culinary school and is going back to her family’s resort on a fictional Caribbean island (it looks suspiciously like Maui, but backwards). She is hoping to run one of the resorts several restaurants, but is enlisted by her older brother Harrison to be the private chef for the resorts exclusive house called Eden. The first guest for their soft open is Pierce Davenport from an imaginary country Avonia within Great Britain. Pierce is an author who has written a wildly popular fantasy series that is airing on NBO. It has been two years since the last book and his fans are clamoring for the next book and the executives at NBO are threatening to bring in writers to finish the series if he doesn’t. He decides to seclude himself at Eden to finish the book. Of course, Emma and Pierce initially clash until an unfortunate encounter with a hungry iguana. I loved the banter between the two, and actually laughed out loud several times. If you want a zany RomCom, this will fit the bill. I am looking forward to Pierce’s derelict brother Leo’s story. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.
Another wonderful love and life story from Melanie Summers. You will laugh out loud, cry out loud and fall in love with Emma and Pierce. Two different people who can have their happily ever after only if they believe in it. I re dived a free copy of this book and voluntarily review it.
Funny, and exciting romantic story. Emma is a chef and wants to be recognized for her outstanding foods. Pierce is struggling with writers block so goes away to a secluded island to finish his latest book. This is definitely a book you’ll want to read to just have fun. Some parts you’ll smile but then you’ll chuckle at parts and at times you’ll laugh out loud. I received a complementary book via Hidden Gems and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Summers.
Melanie Summers, ‘Whisked Away’, a Paradise Bay Romantic Comedy, book 2.
As a Hidden Gems ARC reader I received this book for free. And promised an honest review. Here it is. English isn’t my first language. Sorry for errors.
Rating: 4,5 stars (of 5).
In general: Sweet, unexpected love between two persons with ambition.
Main characters:
– Emma Banks.
Her parents were killed in a car accident when she was seven years old. She, with her two brothers, Will and Harrison, were adopted by an uncle who owned a large, exclusive beachfront resort on one of the Benavente Islands, a fictional archipelago in the Caribbean. Her uncle died when Emma almost finished her final 12th grade exams. The three kids inherited the resort. Harrison (and his wife Libby) became the managers of the resort; Emma’s little brother Will traveled around the world making docuseries, while Emma herself studied at a Culinary Institite in NY to become a (famous) chef at the beach resort of her family.
– Pierce Davenport.
He’s born in Avonia, a fairytale kingdom, somewhere in the North Sea. His wealthy parents are owners of a big company in the UK. They disrespect him for being an author in stead of having a high high level job. Yet he’s very succesful with a book series. He’s famous all over the world; the first three books of the series were model for very profitable tv series. But since two years he’s suffering from a writer’s block so he’s under much pressure to finish the last book/TV episode of the series. He decides to travel to an island in the Caribbean in order to create in peace a fitting end.
Emma and Pierce meet when Pierce lives in a luxury mansion of Emma’s family resort. The visit of a guest is important for the resort’s reputation, so Harrison asks Emma to cook and deliver the food for Pierce. Their first meeting is a disaster: Emma acts clumsy and Pierce behaves as a wealthy, spoiled brat.
The author, Melanie Summers, describes how the enemies become friends who need each other and at last fall in love. There are a lot of problems: the very different ambitions of chef Emma and the famous author, the temporary stay of Pierce, the aversion of their families to their relationship, Pierce’s dislike of love and marriage and the difficult creation of a book that equals the success of the first three of the series.
All this results in (often) funny dialogues, interesting scenes of managing a luxurious, large beach resort and the introduction of many wonderful characters.
The only downside for me while reading: especially in the first part of the book the story is sometimes interrupted when the main characters ‘speak with the reader’. I think it was unnecessary and distracting. But all in all the book was a pleasure to read.

The writer and his chef: a love that could never be, or could it?!

I loved the tone of the internal dialogue for principal characters Emma and Pierce, each having a difficult time in a setting that should be paradise. Their forbidden romance was sweet, the passion mostly behind cracked doors, and there were some fantastic LOL moments (monster iguanas and Emma Scissorhands were priceless). I was really impressed that the author kept the story going when it could easily have, with a few tweaks, wrapped at 66 percent. But that would have been too pat and ideal whereas life and romance can be difficult and frustrating at times and Whisked Away acknowledges that.
The subplot about Pierce’s book and television series was very current and on trend. Overall, despite Emma’s trials and tribulations as personal chef on a houseboat from h?ll, I adored her story and its satisfying resolution.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I don’t know how Melanie Summers keeps topping herself with each new book, but she manages to do it every single time and her stories never fail to surprise, impress, and delight me! Whisked Away is a follow-up to The Honeymooner and mostly takes place in Paradise Bay, a gorgeous tropical locale where there’s a resort owned by the Banks family. In Book One, readers were introduced to eldest brother, Harrison, and this time around we meet and delve into the character of his younger sister, Emma, a recent graduate of culinary school, who has big plans to set the world on fire with her fusion cuisine.
Imagine Emma’s disappointment when she finds herself stuck out on an isolated island cooking for just one finicky person who has absolutely no appreciation for her skills. She’s there because she wants to pay back her brother for all he did to help her achieve her culinary school dreams, but it’s a steep price to pay. Her difficult client is none other than famed fantasy writer, Pierce Davenport, who needs solitude in order to finish the last book of his incredibly popular series, Clash of Crowns. It’s do or die for him because his publisher and legion of fans have been waiting not-patiently for this book for years and if he doesn’t turn over a finished product by the deadline, the writers of the CoC series will crank out something, which is sure to be sub-par. Too bad Pierce is suffering from major writer’s block and his change in scenery doesn’t seem to be alleviating that. (I have to give major kudos to the author for the way she handled the CoC aspect of this book. It was clearly an affectionate spoof of the whole Game of Thrones phenomenon and she just nailed the whole thing, including how hardcore the fans are. She also did some incredible world-building with the CoC series and its characters. If these books actually existed, I would be one-clicking them right now!).
When something unfortunate happens to Pierce on this island paradise (one of the funniest scenes in the book!), he ends up needing Emma’s help to complete his book. She makes a deal with him that will benefit the resort and soon they are working very closely together, revealing different sides of themselves to each other and connecting on a new level. Will a romance develop along with the plot of The Fire of Knights?
The burgeoning relationship between Emma and Pierce has A LOT of complications as they both have emotional hang-ups and they live halfway across the world from each other! So, there’s some good, juicy stuff in the book with the two of them not always being on the same page and not communicating well. This all comes to a head toward the end of the book in another scene that had me laughing so hard I had to put aside the book for a few minutes to collect myself! But this is what Melanie Summers does best–bring heart and humor in equal measure to the climactic moments of her stories.
I enjoyed this book and its characters so much that I was sorry to see it end, but the good news is that the stage was set in Whisked Away for future books about Pierce’s ne’er-do-well sibling, Leo, and Emma’s adrenaline junkie brother, Will. I eagerly anticipate reading both of their stories and hope the author continues to write this series for a very long time!
I highly recommend this book and series to RomCom fans everywhere!
The second book in this delightfully funny series, I laughed and I cried and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Emma has finally achieved her qualification as a graduate of a prestigious culinary institute and now it is time to pay her dues to her brother who sacrificed so much for her. Returning to Paradise Bay, Emma is in for a rude awakening. Instead of the homecoming and family welcome she is anticipating, she is instead, thrown in at the deep end having to take care of a celebrity guest together with an aging but very proper butler and housekeeper. Her introduction to Pierce Davenport is less than stellar but being the quirky and resourceful professional that she is, she works around his demands. Pierce quickly realises what a fool he has been and when his ridiculous demands get the better of him, he knows he needs help and that the only person who can assist him, is Emma. A romance blossoms, but it is not at all plain sailing. Between Pierce’s “lone wolf” persona and Emma’s impishness, they find themselves making monumental relationship mistakes. This novel is well written, entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Loved! Loved! Loved! This book. Literally smiled the whole way through. It was light and quirky and lol funny. Melanie Summers has done it again. Another great series and I love how she keeps you in touch with the characters from her previous books. This book can be read independently of her other books but is so much better having read her Royal series. Cant wait for the next one!
I was given a free download of this book by the author for an honest review. Hope you enjoy as much as I did!
Melanie Summers at her best! I adored this book!!!
What do a man eating iguana, cake donuts, a neophyte chef and a best selling author have in common? This delightfully funny romantic comedy, Whisked Away. There were moments I smiled, moments I grinned, moments I chuckled and moments i laughed out loud. Although Emma and Pierce have a very inauspicious beginning, their happy ending is spectacular. Do yourself a favor, buy this book, read it and enjoy!
So I finished reading The Honeymooner and was hoping that the next book in the series would be out. To my luck it had just been released! I can’t decide which one I love more, the first, or this one. Emma was fantastic. She was relatable and flawed yet you were totally rooting for her because she didn’t make annoying scream at her decisions. Pierce for his annoying, rude, stand offish behavior was actually totally adorable. Their chemistry was perfect, the storyline was adorable, and the timeline was much more realistic. I’m so excited for the third! I hope the author writes one about the youngest Banks sibling, Will though! I want to get to know him and his story.
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Whisked Away .

This story will make you laugh and maybe cry . The characters are unique . It’s a delightful story . I found it wonderfully intertaining . I highly recommend reading this story .
