#1 New York Times bestselling author J.R. Ward is heating things up this winter with a holiday novel featuring some of her most iconic Black Dagger Brothers. When Trez lost his beloved to a tragic death (The Shadows, Black Dagger Brotherhood #13), his soul was crushed and his destiny seemed relegated to suffering. But when he meets a mysterious female, he becomes convinced his true love has been … convinced his true love has been reincarnated. Is he right? Or has his grief created a disastrous delusion?
Therese has come to Caldwell to escape a rift with her bloodline. The revelation that she was adopted and not born into her family shakes the foundations of her identity, and she is determined to make it on her own. Her attraction to Trez is not what she’s looking for, except the sexy Shadow proves to be undeniable.
Has fate provided a grieving widower with a second chance…or is Trez too blinded by the past to see the present for what it really is? In this sensual, arresting book full of the themes of redemption and self-discovery, two lost souls find themselves at a crossroads where the heart is the only compass that can be trusted…but that may require a courage that neither of them possesses.

4.5 Stars! A Lassi Christmas Miracle!!!
Where Winter Finds You by JR Ward is a fantastic companion to The Shadows novel in the series. Trez’s story gutted me. I was so excited when author JR Ward announced the synopsis for this book. And she does not disappoint.
I love the chemistry between Therese and Trez. Author JR Ward does an incredible job building the connection they share. Both Trez and Therese have secrets they’re hiding as their relationship begins. It feels like they have always known each other. Trez makes assumptions that I made too!! Could it be? But then Therese is as different as she is familiar. Is it new love or old love? I was captivated by the story line. And all I wanted was for Trez to get an HEA after all his pain and loss.
I love being in the BDB world. Love how we see the Brothers and the Shellans in each volume, regardless of the book’s main couple, because they are an integral part of the bigger story and the overall theme.
I absolutely love Lassiter and his role in this story. He is my favorite angel.
This story is a bit angsty, a bit dramatic, and sexy AF. I loved it and definitely recommend. It’s not a typical holiday book, it’s a BDB Christmas book.

I’m a sucker for the BDB books and was excited for this book, knowing Trez needed his HEA. Having said that, I didn’t love this book the way I loved some of the others (Z and JM, I’m talking about you two). While the world building is great, the family of vamps continuing to grow and grow, I don’t like the random loopholes that seem to be allowed for some couples and not for others. I’d have also preferred these two remember theirs, because otherwise it just seemed like both were settling. Still it was nice to see the Shadow get his girl and no matter what, I’ll keep reading this series…

Favorite Quotes:
Honestly, he hadn’t just been born under a bad star; he’d been born under one that kicked him in the nuts so badly, he’d coughed them out in his hand.
Clapping a hand over her mouth, the absurdity of it all struck her bell so hard, she nearly snorted. And as she vowed to stop— because he was clearly not in a good mood— she really wished she was a good giggler, one of those females who managed to express oh-that’s-funny in a melodic, pretty way. But nope. Not even close. She was a grunter. A chortler. A water buffalo crossed with an army tank backfiring.
My Review:
I was a late convert to the Brotherhood, I’ve only read two so far but I was quickly hooked. This world and characters are all new to me so I’m several football fields behind the eight-ball in understanding how they all fit together with their backstories and special language, but I don’t care, I am completely blown away by the stellar quality of the writing.
J.R. War obviously loves words and she knows how to use them and arrange them in the most arresting and entertaining manner. I find her lore intriguing and her characters uniquely fascinating and complicated with complex histories and rich interior lives. Her narratives are densely packed with profoundly wordy insights and inner musings that dissect each thought and observation into intensely detailed minuscule pieces that captivate and enthrall. The storylines are multifaceted, highly sensual, and surprisingly amusing with unexpected outbursts of humor, such as an angel who boogies and swears. I wonder if I would live to tell the tale if I cleared my calendar for a month and read the entire series sequentially? At the very least, I would definitely need to stock up on wine and underwear before attempting such a daring feat.
The story of Trez & Selena broke me.
In nearly every way.
Seriously I cried and cried and cried.
I loved them so much.
I L O V E this story!
And, Lassister, he’s the flipping MAN!!
Read this. Be open minded and have the tissues ready.
I soooo loved this.
J. R. Ward
This book makes “coming home” to the boys and Cadwell worth it. I am thrilled we got another book about Trez and the Shadows. My heart needed this book way more than I realized. It’s all about 2nd chances, and all that pain that those entail. This in no way a standalone, please read the series to get the full effect this book can cause on your emotions. It’s deeply emotional, has chemistry that sparks, and it’s healing all at the same time. Some of my favorite characters make appearances in this book, so glad we got that. J.R. Ward gave us such a wonderful story here, and I’m so happy with everything that it is.
Nothing like Christmas love!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have to admit I started and stopped this book several times. It’s not the fact that it wasn’t a good story. But it’s because I don’t normally read paranormal tropes unless it’s one by JR Ward. But it still takes me a little bit to get into the storyline.
This one proved to be a little more difficult because it is definitely one that you want to have read the prior book. I believe these two characters were first introduced in book number 13 of the series.
For me it was a little disconcerting trying to figure everything out but the author is fabulous in time in some of the backstory so I was not completely lost. By the first quarter of the book, I was definitely in the groove!
Besides how can I resist a book like this? A book of everlasting love that transcends reality, or what we know of reality. And that’s what the story is all about.
Intense, highly emotional and deep with feeling, it’s hard not to get emotionally attached to the story. Not to mention it’s extremely sensual and sexual to the very depths of your soul.
You feel the connection between these two. Ward writes in such a way that it feels like you’re in the room with them. Feels like you know them. I guess in a way we really do.
I love Where Winter Finds You. As a reader, we are put through so much along with many tense situations, but through it all have faith that everything will work out eventually.
J.R. Ward tackles a complicated situation masterfully! Loved Trez and Therese’s journey!
A must read.
Such a good Book. I love the Characters and you get so attached to them. you become part of the World. It is why I am so addicted to Black Dagger Brotherhood and all related books.
The Black Dagger Brotherhood is one of my favorite places to loose myself in, and this one doesn’t disappoint.
Where Winter Finds You was a wonderful story full of emotion, healing, and love. Since learning about Trez’s loss and heartbreak in The Shadows, I’ve been wanting him to get his HEA, and did he ever. My heart is happy! A truly great read!
zZz: This story is a clear continuation of The Shadows, a book I didn’t enjoy that felt like a waste of characters. This one is even worse. I know it is all meant to be read full of Christmas Spirit, but I haven’t been able to stomach the tedious dynamic between Trez and Therese. It is waaaay too boring with plenty of cringeworthy situations and behaviours…
What?: Like seriously… WTF? The ending is messy, under developed and lacking sense in every single paragraph. Next time don’t kill Selena and save us the torture. I can’t even say I’m disappointed with the story, because I wasn’t expecting it to be any good. Thankfully, I’m sure this is just one small hiccup…
Bad cover: Too many and too big letters . I dislike covers where the title and author name bully the poor photograph.
Another great J.R Ward Book & even though this was b4 the Sinner, I read them out of order, but it didn’t effect anything.
In Australia its hard to get the . books from the public library, they just don’t but them often.
It wonderful to catch up with some if the Brother’s, Shellan’s, Sympathy / Shadows that we don’t hear much from. I truly miss Rhage & Mary. Ehlainer & Revh, I’M & his Shellan & news of another young on the way!
But what I loved even more was there was no Vischous/ Butch story in this book although V & Doc Jane have a small cameo, but its all medical related.
What I want to see is more on Payne, & the other women too. I want to see the greater Vampire society not just the Royals / Brother’s/ BOB taken care of the way humans are (maybe not in the US, but like we are here in Australia with health, housing & social services, job prospects, whatever you need.
Happy to see someone like Trez whose had one Hellova bad luck run in life, finally luck in instead of out. While he’s been a fairly shady dude up till now, its good to see him want to do the right thing & settle into a normal life & routine. Can’t wait for the book after the Sinner, such a disappointing end to the war.
I RATE WHERE WINTER FINDS YOU
4 OUT OF 5
I’m a total BDB Fan. Was nice to see them get their happy ending
FINALLY! If you read the Shadows then this is the book you have been waiting for. When Trez lost his shallen my heart broke but this book put it right back together. As always there are looks in on other members of the household which are always fun. Therese’s life has been blown apart by a family secret. Everyone believes Trez is attached to her because she looks like Selena. It might just be a Christmas miracle at a second chance at love.
I loved this book. When I read the Shadows book I was devastated for Trez. Him and Selena were perfect for each other. And the way she died was terrible. But in this book we get to see their paths cross again through reincarnation. I really enjoyed reading the book and I am so glad that J.R.Ward gave Trez his HEA.
Love all books by this author.
Did I need this? No.
Did I deserve it? Heck yes.
Am I happy I spent 11 days on it? No, but I was busy with other things.
It kept me up past my bed time. But I’m so full of emotion I can barely type. But I’m so happy.
.
After everything Trez has been though, he deserves this. iAm deserves a kick in the butt
While this book may be #17.5 it is actually a full novel so don’t expect a quick story.
In the previous book, The Chosen, Trez meets Therese, who is identical to Selena, and is working at his brother’s restaurant. When Therese was introduced I wasn’t happy about it because Trez had just lost Selena and I felt it was too soon. (See my review). Well, I still think this is too soon but I didn’t hate it.
First off, my biggest issue was with Therese. The more I learned about her the less I liked her. Her reaction to finding out she is adopted was extreme and mind boggling to me. I also felt like she was a bit of a pushover even though she was trying to be independent. She never asks Trez or anyone else why they had such an extreme reaction to meeting her. Nor does she push Trez to open up as to why he is being somewhat emotional during their relationship. She just didn’t live up to my expectations of what a reincarnation of Selena would be.
I was heartbroken for Trez in The Shadows and reading this book just brought all those feelings back out. This was not a fun read, it was a depressing and emotional one for me. Trez is struggling with his grief and is suicidal to an extent. Everyone is worried about him, especially iAm. Throwing Therese in the mix this soon after Selena’s death was very confusing for Trez because he isn’t distinguishing them as two different people. His mind can’t grasp that she had a life and family before she moved to Caldwell and she is a different person. It was very upsetting to read this and see Trez struggling even more now than he was before he met Therese. I really wish that Ward had not made Therese a mirror image of Selena because it just makes the situation harder on Trez, and everyone else who knew Selena.
This book, while good, felt almost like Ward was just trying to make the people who were angry about Selena’s death happy. Much like Tohr’s book, I felt like it was just too soon to force a grieving male onto someone new, even with her being the reincarnation of Selena.
Putting all these issues aside, I did still enjoy the story, which is why I am giving this three stars.
This book was AMAZING! It was so much more than I anticipated. I love all the BDB books. Every story is an emotional journey and you never know which characters you get to meet. Trez and Selena’s story was incredibly heartbreaking in The Shadows. That heartbreak continues throughout this book. I cried, the ugly, oh this is painful cry. I cried at different points of the book because the heartbreak was so incredible real. The ending was truly magnificent. I love these books and recommend reading them in order as well as the spinoff series that are intertwined in the mix.
