Two years ago Ronda Calhoun participated in a summoning ceremony with her single friends. All approaching forty, they felt immortals might appreciate women with a little more maturity and experience. For the others it worked! But why isn’t Ronda’s immortal showing up? Private investigator Nate Smith didn’t know what he had back when he and Ronda dated in high school. Now older and wiser, he knows … knows that she’s the one he wants to spend his long life with. Arranging to run into her again isn’t a problem, but confessing he’s a werewolf might ruin everything.

She is alone because her parents perished in a plane crash. All her friends found love and she is the only one that has not. She moved back to Maine to her cottage because she could not live in her parents house in Kennebunkport. She meets her friend Marci Jo at the cottage. She gets a job with her friend Tommy in his truck-stop. That is went she meet Nate Smith for the first time. Now you need to buy the book to see what is going on in it. I will be buying more from this author. Thank You for writing the books so we can read them
I always feel at a disadvantage when Reading a book in a series without reading its’ predecessors. There are experiences that have impacted the characters and add context to the story that I can tell I am missing. I felt that way while reading this book. While it does stand alone as a novel and does not require the previous books, I suspect the read would have been a richer experience if I had read about the other experiences that Ronda had with her friends. That being said, this was a story that had a lot going on and she had to sort out the motivations of the various players, with only cryptic psychic messages to go on. In the end most of the twisted threads had been unraveled, but I still had questions about why some of the events took place. All in all the book was a fun romantic suspense story with some mild paranormal elements. I would have used the hero’s special abilities as a werewolf more as part of the story instead of as an aside. Ronda was expecting an immortal, so she would most likely have trusted Nate faster if she had learned about him sooner, but if characters displayed potential signs of immortality she could have had more puzzles to solve to reach her happily ever after.

Low-key PNR
I really liked the premise for this series. This book was well written with likeable characters. The PNR part of the story was set up well, with a great start and use of a psychic. Despite the early hints of a character being a wolf shifter, and the reveal during the story there was no other part of the story where the paranatural part was relevant. I would have liked to see more of it during the story – practically speaking, it was just a contemporary romance with references to the paranatural. I struggled with some of the plotting too, where events and characters were not really clearly explained and their clear part in the story was hard for me to discern.
Overall I liked it, but couldn’t love it.

Fab read
I really enjoyed this story. Sometimes sweet, sometimes witty, sometimes intriguing, but always a good read. Ashlyn Chase has created a world very close to our own, only with a few more supernatural creatures. Nate and Ronda are a bit more mature, but still are committed to finding their happy ever after, even as life interferes. Fans of PNR will really enjoy this book!

Ronda Calhoun and a few of her friends performed a ritual to bring immortals into their lives. Ronda’s friends found immortal mates, but Ronda’s mate hasn’t shown up. She moves back to her hometown and runs into ex boyfriend PI Nate Smith. Will they get their happily ever after this time? I felt the book was too long. The author had many things going on and failed to tie everything up. Rhonda was very wishy washy about Nate. He’d piss her off and she’d stop trusting him. Someone was trying to push them away from each other and instead of asking she’d doubt him. Not that he was perfect by any means. This is also not a shifter book. It was brought up in his mind twice, at the beginning and middle of the book and when he told her at the end. There is no shifting or shifter behavior. They were an ordinary couple placed in the middle of drama. There was some sex but it didn’t draw me in and too much was going on for the relationship to build. It did somewhat but I didn’t feel involved with the characters.
It was an interesting story and I’d recommend this book if you’re looking for a casual read

This book was full of ups, downs, lefts, rights, twists galore – and it was wonderful. The main characters, Nate & Ronda, were similar in so many respects, yet so very different too! The emotional connection that Chase creates with her audience in this book is amazing. It draws the reader in from the onset, keeps them on the edge of their seat, and holds tight through the very last page.
Nate & Ronda dated in high school, but his desire to ‘sample the buffet’ of girls, left her heartbroke. When they run into each other years later, he is completely dedicated to making it up to her in every way.
Ronda is taking a reprieve from her unsatisfying life and working as a waitress in a truckstop eatery when she runs into Nate again. She is home to deal with her family estate following her parents death. She is also missing her friends who found their immortal soulmate – where is hers!?
The relationship between Nate & Ronda is wonderful and frusterating, for both. Nate wants to protect Ronda without smothering her. She wants a partner, but independance. As strange events start happening surrounding Ronda, Nate becomes increasingly protective.
How will this play out? Are these two able to compromise, or is Nate’s need to protect and keep Ronda safe just too much? Can she accept him, ALL of him, or will they miss their chance at a HEA and Ronda at her immortal, without even realizing?

4 women did a summoning spell to have an immortal find them and fall in love with. Three of Ronda’s friends got their wish but Ronda thought that she had been left out. She was bored and got a job as a waitress at a truck stop near her and Tommy the owner took a chance on her and hired her. She met Nate that she had dated in high school but he broke up with her. They got their second chance and then she finds out that Nate is a bear, she figured that the gods had gifted her Nate! Problems with other things though but they are working on them.
