I didn’t want this story to end!”–Reese Witherspoon“Painfully beautiful.”–The New York Times Book ReviewFor years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet … years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life–until the unthinkable happens.
Where the Crawdads Sing is at once an exquisite ode to the natural world, a heartbreaking coming-of-age story, and a surprising tale of possible murder. Owens reminds us that we are forever shaped by the children we once were, and that we are all subject to the beautiful and violent secrets that nature keeps.

Really wanted to love this book because it had so much hype- and fortunately I did! It’s a story of survival, resilience, and ultimately love. Kya is a character you will not soon forget! I didn’t want it to end! Beautifully written!
Wow!
One of the best books I’ve read recently. Surprise ending
This book was all I have heard it was and more. Kya to me was such a strong heroine. You cried for her and cheered for her all in one. She was a survivor through and through. I also loved Tate and the way he cared for Kya, and I totally understood some of the struggles he went through with there relationship. I could reread this story all over again the minute I put it down.
I loved Delia Owens writing style and this story. It really took me to a different place and life that I never would have imagined. Really, really great!
One of my favorite books of all time. Really fantastic!
I loved this book. Beautiful language. Emotionally packed.
So beautifully written
Absolutely loved the book and didn’t want it to end.
I found certain parts of the book interesting and entertainment. It was slow moving at first creating ambiance I guess but it did not perk up until the middle of the book. The ending was full of foreshadowing.
My book club’s July pick — yes, authors belong to book clubs too — was compulsively readable. I zipped through this story that was both extremely easy and incredibly hard to read. That poor girl!
A must read! A great story that will have you thinking…
I loved this book. Could not put it down.
Good on her for surviving and thriving
This was a good story the only thing I had an issue with was how slow it was. I sometimes found myself kinda spacing out and then coming back need to reread what I just read. My mom really enjoyed this book which I could understand because it was about a girl who had a similar life as hers. I did fall in love with the characters and I think the only reason I finished the book was because I wanted to know if the Marsh girl would ever get the love she deserved.
Didn’t see that coming. Resourceful main character. Lovely prose.
This book was beautifully written!! I couldn’t put it down!!
Amazing ending that Surprised me! Great character development.
Omg…just omg!
beautifully written….lyrical prose. Great descriptions of the marshes and fauna of the coasts of North Carolina. Original story, elements of romance, sadness, mystery. Surprise ending! recommended!
