From New York Times bestselling author Jenny Colgan comes this hilarious romance about a woman who trades in the comforts of city life in hopes of finding love in a small Scottish town in the middle of nowhere.Faced with the harsh reality that there are 25,000 more women than men in London, Katie’s dating prospects are at an all-time low. While she’s glad it’s not a man’s world anymore, it … not a man’s world anymore, it wouldn’t hurt if there were more eligible bachelors.
More likely to get murdered than married, according to gleeful media reports, Katie resigns herself to the fact that there’s no sex in the city for her and decides to head for the hills—or the Scottish Highlands to be exact. Despite the fact she’s never been one for muddy rain boats—and Fairlish is in the middle of nowhere—the tiny town does have one major draw: men. LOTS of them!
But while Katie relishes the chance to do battle with armies of admirers, she’s not excited about going head to head with her shady new boss, Harry. At least there’s the local eye-candy to distract her, including gorgeous newshound Iain. But he is at loggerheads with Harry, and she can’t afford to get on Harry’s bad side any more than she already has.
Life in the country might not be one big roll in the hay, but now that Katie has taken the plunge, can she ever turn her back on the delights of Fairlish and return to city life…?

Jenny Colgan is a Scottish author who has published more than 30 books in the last 20 years. As with any other craft, you get better the longer you work at it and that is certainly true with this book. I was unaware that it was a republished book that was originally published in 2005 – if I’d known that, I wouldn’t have bought it. I love this author’s newer books – they are filled with humor and friendship and love. Where Have all the Boys gone is filled with attempts at humor along with lots of love and friendship. I enjoyed the book but not nearly as much as I have enjoyed the books that she’s written in the last five years.
This was a fun easy read with several interesting characters. My advice is to read Jenny Colgan books when you want a laugh and a great light hearted story with well written female characters but read her books written in the last 5 years – they are all great to read.
here Have All the Boys Gone?, by Jenny Colgan is one of her older titles, re-released. Though cute, the need to have a boyfriend is not so necessary in today’s culture. That said, the story takes place in rural Scotland and it is a fun romp to the HEA. I enjoyed the audio version .
Pure escapism, tons of fun, very light-hearted. A tale of a woman who recognizes the statistical likelihood of finding love in London and escapes to the Scottish highlands instead to seek out her one true love. It’s an easy, fast read that will transport you from whatever you have on your mind, put a smile on your face and whisk you into a different world during those precious reading hours. It’s a lovely book. I really enjoyed it. Jenny Colgan is the queen of comedic situational romance.
I never met a Jenny Colgan book I didn’t like. I always feel so transported in such a wonderful way. Loved this one.
Like all Jenny Colgan storied, it doesn’t disappoint.
A good book and well written, but a bit too Hallmark movie for my tastes. The main characters were all likable, but annoying at the same time, which I believe was the author’s intention. You just wanted to shake a few of them and tell them to wake up already. The secondary characters were much more likable than the main characters in my opinion … they were more colorful, funny, and interesting. The book meandered on for a while back and forth and then seemed to end a bit abruptly. All in all a good read though and it certainly makes the reader want to visit the unspoiled countryside of Scotland.
I didn’t care for this one as much as the others I’ve read by this author
I am so disappointed in my first read by this author. I could not get past the fourth chapter, it moved very slowly and the characters were not likable at all to me. This book was a DNF for me, and I do not know that I would want to continue to read anything else by Jenny. This book spoiled my first impression of Ms. Colgan’s writing.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
I love ALL Jenny Colgan books!
It was a nice light weight read
It was a quick and easy read. Takes your mind off the current news in a lighthearted love story manner.
I laughed out loud
I was intrigued by the premise, disappointed with the execution. I have enjoyed many of Colgan’s books and know that they are sometimes edgy and racy, but this one felt unnecessarily over the top for me. I did not enjoy the focus on casual hookups and over use of strong words. There were still many laugh out loud moments and likeable characters who find themselves in sticky situations.
