Loved this book! I’m not routinely a “romance” reader I lean towards mainstream; drama, suspense, and action genres, but I was looking for something different and this book seemed like a nice light reading break. Wow was I wrong! I could not put this book down!!! I was immediately caught up in the characters and plot. This book was filled with relatable characters, reading about the main character Meg, felt like reading about a friend. The only disappointment I felt was at the end…because it was over, and I would miss my friends!!! I’m excited to look for more from Claire Ashby!!! 5 STARS*****
I just finished this free read on Amazon and enjoyed it. The book is about a pregnant book store owner and a veteran amputee. Meg and Theo each have their own personal flaws that need to be overcome but the overall story will hold your interest throughout the 283 pages. As it is free, you can’t lose on this one
I loved that this story could hit home alot more than other romantic stories. Its about a war hero struggling to handle the pain and recovery and falling in love with a pregnant woman who is part owner of a book store. Two average people who create an amazing story.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The delivery. That was amazing.
Any additional comments?
This is such a REAL story compared to all the other romantic books I’ve listened to or read. It gets you right where it counts.
Meg Michaels is trying to hide her pregnancy from everyone for many reasons. Her best friend also happens to be pregnant and one of the only people that knows helps supports her. Her best friend is also happily married and her husbands brother is a amputee medic. Theo, the amputee, is having a welcome home party and stumbles upon Meg and realizes she is pregnant. The love story between them is a little to ‘easy’ but I very much enjoyed it. He takes to her rapidly and moves in. They both have very real fears for the future. Meg and her twin brother Steve, were abandoned by their mother at a young age so Meg struggles with accepting that someone could truly care for her. Esp after her two exes, one she was engaged to, another who is just a jerk, left her when she needed them.
The characters growth and dialog was effortless. The way the story flows has you never wanting to stop. Claire Ashby has a way with storytelling that creates an image in your mind perfectly. I did not want to put this down (or hit pause on the audiobook) and stayed up late several times!
This explores the thoughts and fears many women have on self worth and love. I love how the writer touches many many deep subjects. Such as parents and blood relatives and how you don’t have to be blood to be loved as one. How it goes through the needs and struggles of a returning veteran. I cannot express into enough words how this book makes you feel. It is a must read! Even if it is not your usual style I HIGHLY recommend it.
Claire Ashby has written a amazing book with such feeling I cannot wait to read/listen to more by her.
The narrator known as both Kerrie Seymour and Piper Brown is amazing! She quickly became one of my favorite narrators to date. I can’t wait to enjoy more audiobooks by her!
I really enjoyed the story and the plot line. The main female caused a lot of issues on her own but I could relate to where she was emotionally. I did feel the explicit sex scenes were not necessary to the story line. You could have expressed their growing love for each other in various ways.
This is a sweet story with well developed characters. Looking forward to the author’s next book
