I love the Sullivan series by author Bella Andre and I devoured Lola and Duncan’s story in When You Kiss Me, the latest Maine Sullivan book. Lola and Duncan fell in love at first sight and you could not help but be swept away with them. Their love story was romantic and I loved that Duncan put Lola’s well-being first and tried to protect her from his past. Lola and Duncan had to overcome some trust issues but I liked that the Sullivan family supported him in his time of need. This book was so worth the wait and I highly recommend it.
I love the Sullivans and this book is a wonderful addition to one of my favorite families. I read it in one sitting.
I loved There Goes My Heart so this one was a bit of a let down for me. I liked Lola and then I didn’t. Loved Duncan and thought he went way above expected with Lola and those his brother took advantage of. There was definite chemistry and instalove and I could feel it and believe it between these two. When Duncan’s secret came out I thought Lola’s reaction as well as Moira’s was over the top especially since they would not let him explain himself. However, I did love how he family came to together in the end to help. Sweet ending. Looking forward to Ashley’s book.
I am always wanting more of the Sullivans. West Coast. East Coast. England. I don’t care, just want Sullivans. When You Kiss Me gave me all three!!!!!! Trifecta!!!!!!
Lola is one of the Maine Sullivans of Bar Harbor. She is a talented artist but is not talented in love. She is better off avoiding all men. A simple goal in her little town, but she teaches classes.
Duncan is finally taking time for himself. He doesn’t share what happened five years ago. He has worked hard to fix what happened and only has one more wrong to right. His assistant gave him a gift certificate for a class. He will use it just so he doesn’t hurt her feelings.
A look. A smile. They are both doomed. Love at first sight. Talk about a whirlwind romance!!!! It is beautiful until it isn’t. Duncan really should have talked about his past. It might have saved his future. It might have saved their love.
It will take calling in the big guns to save him and their relationship. Lola calls in the cousins to dig deep. Together with Duncan, they are able to save him and their love.
This is a slow burn read .
In this book we meet Lola who has had some bad experiences
with males so she has decided to stay single but thing’s chance
when she meets Duncan.
Definitely a lot of depth to this book and the characters really bring
the book alive.
There’s drama and some surprises I didn’t see coming like all the Sullivans
books I have read it took me on an amazing journey.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
I love the Sullivan’s. This newest book by Bella Andre is part of the sub-series, The Maine Sullivan’s, and is the 21st book in this series!!
Lola and Duncan…kind of insta-love…then insta-hate…then back to the love!
Lola, with a history of always attracting the wrong kind of man. She is beautiful and smart, but the men she attracts only seem to see the beauty, and don’t take into account her brains.
Duncan, has made his own way as a venture capitalist after a parting of the ways under, suspicious circumstances, with his only relative, his brother.
A serendipitous gift to Duncan, of a drawing class given by Lola, makes Duncan realize there is more than wealth, and his instructor has stolen his heart. This is the insta-love part. Then, when Lola finds out a secret Duncan has kept to himself, she is incensed. This is the insta-hate.
Wanting to get help for her friend, Lola goes to Boston to seek Duncan out to have him make restitution. Her plot backfires when she sees many people in Duncan’s corner and she sees him in a new light.
Such a wonderful story. I wasn’t sure about the insta-love/insta-hate thing at first, but it totally works in this book. I also love that many of the Sullivan’s from past books make a cameo in this book. More Sullivan’s please!!
Falling in love is risky. It takes toughness, strength & tenderness. At heart, it’s a leap of faith that the other person is deserving of your time, attention & feelings. Now imagine yourself in Lola’s shoes. She’s been stared at by men for years due to her looks & curves. They don’t look any deeper than those superficial attributes. Now she’s met someone that acts like what she says is important & has value. Is it any wonder she fell so quickly?
Duncan has to admit that Lola’s looks are what attracted him at the first. As he spent time & got to know her, he realized her brain, emotion & talent were even more attractive. He finds himself sharing more with her than he ever has with anyone else. He can’t stand the idea that if he tells her his secret, he’ll lose her. Did he wait too late or will she understand?
I really loved this story. Duncan & Lola are a good fit once she realizes he’s telling the truth. Their families & backgrounds couldn’t be more different but at heart, they hold the same values. I love that the Sullivan family is portrayed as such a tight knit group even though there are miles between them. In every book, those we’ve met in earlier stories pop in with updates about their lives & to help relatives in need. Each story is a stand alone with the familiar family thread running throughout.

When You Kiss Me is book 3 in the Maine Sullivans (Book 21 in the Sullivan Series) by Bella Andre. Up next is Lola and Duncan.
Lola Sullivan has never had a man see her for who she really is…smart, gorgeous and a talented textile designer until she meets Duncan Lyman a man with secrets. The instant attraction, insta-love greets these two on a deep level that neither has ever felt.
What happens next…fears, instant attraction, secrets, trust issues, family lending a helping hand and second chances…can they find their HEA or will the secrets destroy it all?
Bella Andre can do no wrong when it comes to the Sullivan family! From the beautiful Maine setting to the wonderful characters, When You Kiss Me will completely engross you. Lola and Duncan fall hard and fast for one another and their love story is one that is not without difficulties. When secrets surface, Lola and Duncan’s relationship is threatened. Andre does a superb job of making us feel every emotion throughout and in the end, you’ll be cheering as these two beautiful souls find their much deserved happily ever after. As always, Andre makes sure dedicated readers are treated to visits by past favorites which is always something that I look forward to. Don’t miss this fabulous addition to a beloved series. 4.5 stars
This is the story of Lola and Duncan. Lola is one of the “Maine” Sullivans and though it can be read as a standalone, the overall story is so much more enriched if you’ve read previous Sullivan stories from this series. Duncan meets Lola when he travels from Boston to Bar Harbor to take her class and is instantly attracted to her. He has always had a side-interest in map drawing and hopes to sharpen his drawing skills. Lola is also attracted to Duncan but has a hard time trusting men because of her past experiences in relationships that didn’t end well. Too often she has been solely judged by her appearance and not taken seriously for her business skills. Duncan sees her as a beautiful woman but also really “sees” her for who she is and the brains behind her successful business. Duncan also carries issues from his past and feels he would not be worthy of Lola but the attraction is too strong and they both let down their walls and it’s truly a love-at-first-sight adventure. Duncan moves to Bar Harbor to be with Lola and to pursue his artistic side of map drawing and all looks right with the world. He still is harboring his secret of his past and what his brother did and the guilt he carries because of his past and knows he must share this very painful part of his past with her very soon. When everything is looking wonderful – a twist and the truth threatens to end their relationship almost as soon as it started. Can the two of them overcome these obstacles and find their own happily-ever-after? No spoilers but you will be drawn into their story and be hoping and cheering for their own HEA. Another great visit with the Sullivans.
Between COVID-19, distance learning and all that stress, I must admit my reading habits have changed somewhat. I’ve been reading darker romances with definitely-not traditional heroes, paranormal adventures, etc. So it was a wonderful change to pace to enter back into to the sweet and lovable world of the Sullivans with When You Kiss Me by Bella Andre.
In When You Kiss Me, Duncan and Lola meet when he signs up for her class. She designs fabrics and he is an aspiring cartographer (really different, I know, but I found it interesting) . It’s pretty much an instant attraction that quickly leads to love. However, as with many of Bella Andre’s books, you get much more. Our heroine has been hurt too many times before; our hero has a secret and then when you add family drama…well it all comes together in a quick and delightful read!
When You Kiss Me is a standalone in the Sullivan universe – a really large and wonderful, dream family. You don’t have to read the other books to enjoy this story, but if you love charming and light romances with great family dynamics, you’ll enjoy this series.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this novel. I am voluntarily and freely providing an honest review.
I’ve always wanted to visit Maine, now I have seen it through the eyes of Duncan and Lola. What a wonderful trip it was. I love the sweet, immediate, acceptance of attraction that both Duncan and Lola experience upon meeting one another. They don’t fight it. They embrace it and that made for a lot of the appeal for me. So many times the characters fight it or make decisions for the other thinking they know best. This was an awesome change of pace.
Will Duncan share his secrets with Lola? Will she forgive Duncan and accept his love?
Totally love the writing of Bella Andre. A very large family saga such as The Sullivan’s is one of my favorite troupes. Totally recommend a trip to Bar Harbor to meet the Maine Sullivans. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. 4 stars*****
When You Kiss Me is the latest release in the Maine Sullivans series from Bella Andre. The Sullivan family absolutely is one of my favorite series of characters ever, and I love there are so many branches of this family tree. When You Kiss Me is Lola Sullivan’s story, and I absolutely couldn’t put this book down!
Lola Sullivan is a beautiful voluptuous woman. Most men have only looked at her and seen what she looked like without ever caring to learn more. As this has happened to her most of her life, she is very careful around men and very slow to trust anything at face value. Duncan Lyman has his own trust issues thanks to his older brother, and is still working on righting the wrongs his brother did 5 years ago. When he meets Lola, he is absolutely drawn to her, and that Duncan saw Lola’s inner beauty shining through. I loved neither could really take their eyes off the other and they didn’t want to be apart from one another long.
I knew Duncan delaying telling Lola about his past with his brother could come back to bite him in the ass, just not quite in the way that it did. I also understood how hurt, upset, and angry Lola was, especially as she shared things from her past she hadn’t even shared with her sisters. Lola had been burned in the past, and I hated she felt doubts about her instincts. Lola is such a passionate woman, and I loved even in her anger, she started seeing things didn’t add up as they should for Duncan to be the bad guy.
Something that runs pretty true for many of the Sullivan offspring is knowing almost from the moment they meet “the one” they have meet their other half. Lola and Duncan connected from the moment they first saw each other, and I absolutely felt a happy sigh when they both struggled to stop staring. Add in their smoking hot chemistry, while trying to wait a bit to make love, and I was hooked on them as a couple, even when things looked bleak. I have mad love for Lola and Duncan as a couple.
Bella Andre has once again given me a beautiful, sexy, and emotional romance right when I needed it. Between all the various branches of the Sullivan family, this is the 21st book in the series, and they continue to entertain and keep me coming back for more with each new installment.

Bella has done it again. I absolutely loved all the Sullivan’s stories. Duncan and Lola fall for each other on sight but Duncan has a past that he need to tell Lola about, however she finds out before he can tell her. Great story of righting the wrongs that you make in life and learning to trust someone after you been hurt before. Both of them need to deal with their pasts to get to their future. This is definitely a one click ladies.
Wow! I’ve been waiting to read Lola’s story and although it was a long wait, it was completely worth it! Lola and Duncan face an incredible test after not communicating initially and it is an amazing journey to watch as Lola realizes she can trust her instincts and that sometimes there is a much bigger picture.
Duncan has been trying to make amends for years, and through Lola, he finally finds the last piece of the missing puzzle.
It was great to see so many of Lola’s cousins come together to help out.
I cannot wait for the next book.
I love reading about the Sullivans (I know that I’m not alone). No matter the location, they are always entertaining. I was looking forward to Lola’s story and who would capture her heart. Duncan was perfect for her. Even though a lot of couples meet and fall for each other pretty quickly, Lola and Duncan’s relationship developed very quickly, especially since they both had trust issues. But, if you can get past that, they were perfect for each other. And, as always, it was great to learn more about her family. This was an easy read and perfect for a beach or anytime read.
Wonderful heartfelt story of Duncan and Lola. Love at first sight was their beginning, but sometimes circumstances get in the way. Their trust has been shattered but will they find that trust in each other. The Sullivans once again come to the rescue. Can’t get enough of these awesome characters. I received this arc for an honest review.
When You Kiss Me by Bella Andre is another entry into the saga of the Maine Sullivans. Lola Sullivan is a fabric designer. She also teaches drawing classes in her small studio in Bar Harbor, Maine. It is at one such class that she meets Duncan Lyman and feels an instant connection. She has not had great luck with men and has pretty much sworn of them. Duncan is different. When he spends the night, talking and kissing, she is convinced, but it is not to be. He leaves her to return to Boston for the week promising to return to have Friday night dinner with her family. All is going well until family friend, Moira, arrives and recognizes Duncan as the man that defrauded her and nearly destroyed her company five years before. He is not the man that Lola thought he was and now both of their hearts are broken.
When You Kiss Me is vintage Bella Andre: full of passion, sex, and family. Despite what she has learned, Lola is still drawn to him and both her father and her sister, Angela, the biggest skeptics ever; think she should give him a chance to explain. His staff and one of his major clients back in Boston are the same as he had left them: full of faith in his mission and faith in him. Can the two reconcile? To make things worse, his brother Alistair appears on his doorstep and appears to threaten Lola. Lola is unique and beautiful, a Sullivan in all ways. As usual, the family rallies as no other family could, and within a day have all the evidence they need to prove Duncan’s innocence. The family is all with the Sullivans and this romance is no exception. I loved it. I recommend it.
Family is at the heart of all of Bella Andre’s Sullivan series — families of blood and families of the heart; supportive families and fractured families. WHEN YOU KISS ME is no exception.
Lola Sullivan and Duncan Lyman are delightful together. My favorite part of this newest Sullivan title (and #3 in the Maine Sullivans) is that this title broke Andre’s mold of couples starting at a slow simmer as we watch their personalities, fears and outside influences create a perfect dish at the end.
In WHEN YOU KISS ME, our couple’s relationship starts off with the flash and heat of lighting the rum on fire in a classic Bananas Foster dessert. That beautiful beginning and the trials and tribulations that came after made this a one-sitting read for me. There was no way I saw stopping once I started.
Each of Bella Andre’s Sullivan titles can be read as standalones. WHEN YOU KISS ME, however, brings in a few more of the extended cousins, so you’ll be curious to go back and catch their stories.
I love reading about the Sullivans. It would be wonderful to have a large, supportive, and caring family like they do. It was nice watching Lola and Duncan fall in love so quickly. It broke my heart when someone unknowingly tore them apart. We all see other people and think how nice it would be to be them. Lola knew what it was like to have people only look at her and see her beauty and either be jealous of her or want her for sex. I couldn’t imagine how she felt especially with how smart she is too. The way Duncan was brought up and what his older brother did to him broke my heart. I could see what a good man Duncan was and wanted good things for him. I was glad to see that Lola had to finally hear Duncan out so she could decide how she really felt about him. Once you start reading this book, you won’t want to put it down. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.
