Charming, poignant, and sexy, When You Got a Good Thing pulled me in with its sweet charm and deft storytelling, and didn’t let go until the very last page. It has everything I love in a small-town romance! ~USA Today Best-Selling Author Tawna FenskeA moment. A mistake. That’s all it took for Kennedy Reynolds to lose her first love and her family. There’s so much heart and sweetness in this series, and I’m dying for the next sister’s book to arrive. In the meantime, I’ve loved meeting Kennedy and Pru and getting their tales in the first two Misfit Inn books.
A sweet second chance romance in a small town where nosiness is the favorite activity. After 10 years of running Kennedy finally goes home. She is still filled with fear, but wants her secrets kept that way. The first and last person she wants to see is Xander and yet there he is. Can they finally find their way back to each other? Will she be able to work it all out with her sisters? It’s a wonderful listen. Somewhat predictable, but that’s why we listen to these stories. For the HEA. And a wonderful start to a new series.
This was the first book I’ve read by author Kait Nolan and I really enjoyed this second chance romance between Xander and Kennedy. The circumstance that bring Kennedy back home is a tearjerker and there’s family angst along the way that needed to be resolved. I devoured this book and was totally invested in not only Xander and Kennedy’s love story but the relationship among all the Reynold’s sisters. I especially adored Ari in this book. I’m looking forward to reading the other books in the Misfit Inn series.
This book has all the feels! There is nothing quite like a second chance at love. It’s crazy how our lives can change when we make a choice to protect the ones we loves. Kennedy & Xander never stop loving each other and it takes a tragedy to bring them back into each other lives. They love for each could never disappear and that is swoon-worthy. I also loved the relationships between the sisters, even the hard messy times. Definitely a must read for romance enthusiasts.
Whether it’s the audiobook version or the ebook one, you will fall in love with this first book in the author’s series, The Misfit Inn.
The much loved adoptive mother of Kennedy Reynolds unexpectedly dies.
Kennedy, now in Ireland, left home ten years ago, leaving behind her adoptive sisters, her mother and the boy she deeply loved. She was forced to leave and she knew her return would be painful. But she never expected that when she came face to face with Deputy Xander Kincaid, the boy, now a man, that meant so much to her , it would hurt so much. Add to that the fact that not all the sisters greeted her with open arms, and that Kennedy is still keeping secrets, and you know that this will be a heartbreaking story.
Will Kennedy finally confess the reason for her sudden departure? If she does, will she be forgiven? Will Xander turn his back to Kennedy, or will that cement their love?
Classic to the author’s style, you will be taken on an emotional rollercoaster ride filled with characters that are perfect in their imperfections, leaving you wanting to spend more time at The Misfit Inn.
I really enjoyed this first book in a ‘new to me’ series, I’m definitely going to have to read the rest of the stories for this small southern town. Again, I do love Kait Nolan’s books!
Check several of the above on my phone but they won’t stay. This was a great love story. Your heart goes out to Kennedy and then you finally find out the true secret. A great standalone with a HEA!!
An excellently woven story!
Second chance small town romance romance between Xander and Kennedy that pulls you in and wraps itself around you, as does all of Kennedy’s family. Misunderstandings, deceptions and hurt are a lot of baggage for everyone to be carrying around and when all is revealed, and the heartache is lifted, your left with a sense of joy and relief for all of the characters.
The premise of 5 girls brought together as foster children to become sisters is heartwarming and leaves you with a longing for each of their stories – all of them with the hope of a happy ever ending!
I liked this book but I felt like it was too short with everything being resolved a little too easily. Not enough conflict. I’m undecided as to whether I will read the rest of the series.
Quite possibly my favorite author. Keep up the great writing.
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Kennedy went home after her foster mother passed away trying to get everything and everyone on the same page. Then there was Xander her past love what will happen with him? Read and see. Really enjoy Kate’s books
Author’s Direct (I think this must have been a freebie at some point, because I can’t find any other books by Nolan on there.) ebook is available for free on Amazon.
This is my first book by Kait Nolan, but I *love* Amy McFadden as a narrator and haven’t come across any of her work I didn’t like. Both were amazing here.
This is a dual POV, small town, second chance romance, series opener. Kennedy & Xander are reunited due to a family tragedy and we get the rekindling of their relationship. What I especially loved is that while there was “a big secret” that caused Kennedy to leave Eden’s Ridge in the first place ~ it’s uncovered at about the 60% point and we aren’t overly tortured with that as the only plot point. Nolan’s worldbuilding is impeccable here. We get to know enough about Kennedy’s sisters to anticipate the rest of the series, but in a way that doesn’t overpower the main plot. Heads up: You’ll probably need a box of Kleenex with this one.
Amy McFadden is fantastic as always. Her ability to give all the characters their own unique voices and keep the southern accents in tact without being overdone is phenomenal. It was never a guess as to who was speaking and chapters from Xander’s POV were distinct.
5 stars all around.
First loves are very difficult to get past if things don’t end well. While these characters have had wonderful and terrible life experiences, they remember each other and need to move on. Romantic but realistic.
Love this author and how she creates her characters!!
This is a heartwarming story …. I look forward to learning more about the people of Misfit Inn
I really enjoy each K. Nolan book. They are page turners and each captivating
Love a small town romance. Kait makes me want to go to these towns and be friends with the characters.
Loved this story. Reading the rest of the series
Wonderful!
