When You Close Your Eyes
by Roxanne D. Howard
When You Close Your Eyes is a bittersweet story that will touch each readers heart, in a different way. A story filled with betrayal, deception, compassion, love and the destiny of two souls connecting. A plot that moves smoothly, with a slow burn all the way through story line; emotional spice and turbulence, thrills, suspense and twists that will leave the readers surprised and turning the pages completing the book in a hurry.
The reader cannot help but to fall in love with characters with the two strong and convincing characters of the storyline, that are very well developed and work well together; easily draw the readers into their story. Characters the readers can easily understand and can easily connect with. Our heroine and hero have a chemistry that is sizzle and some major obstacles.
Ms. Roxanne D. Howard writing style has a way of delivering just the right spice and suspense; to keep her readers engaged in her stories. A great story, I loved it so much that I did not want this story to end and I will be reading more books of Ms. Roxanne D. Howard work. When You Close Your Eyes is novel that combines all the elements of romance, paranormal, and personal breakthroughs. When You Close Your Eyes is classified as erotica; the overall sensuality of the story is extremely well written; so, it is not a suggested read for everyone. Well worth reading and is receiving 5-starts. Well done, thank you for sharing this book and your writing talent.
Not what I normally read but no reason to give bad review. This is right up your alley if you like sexy books with little left to your imgination.
American girl Lark goes to London, England and becomes a successful sophisticated woman. Add a handsome powerful fiance, Charles. Life is perfect. It’s just her erotic dreams of a sexy Irishman that has her questioning everything. Why do her dreams, and the man in them, feel so real? The things he can do with her body leaves her fiance greatly lacking. That’s when Destiny steps in! I thoroughly enjoyed this book, my first by this author. The erotic scenes aren’t just thrown in for fun. They tie everything together. They are beautiful and satisfying! Roxanne D. Howard is another author that is going on my must be read list.
this was actually a great book to listen to. she has had dreams of a hot guy. so when her father dies and she goes back home. she see him. the guy she has been engaged to has other ideas. read to find out what happens.
Oh my! when You Close Your Eyes captivated. With every page and with every chapter, I fell through the rabbit hole. This book was like a puzzle for me. I needed to break the code. But with every word, I was not getting closer to the truth.
About the book:
Lark is a woman on a mission. She has left her life…then she is warped back into time. Back to her roots. I will admit, Charles aka the fiance, never strike me as the hero of the story. And this because when Niall steps in, the world stops spinning.
When You Close Your Eyes will keep you on your toes!!! I loved the characters, well all of them except Charlie that is. I recommend this book! The only reason I gave this review a 4 is because of the ending. I won’t spoil it, but I feel like there is unfinished business with Charlie. Other than that, I loved this book!
Lark Braithwaught has been having sexy erotic dreams of the same man . It’s getting to the point where its affecting the romance between herself and fiance , Charles. Lark receives an emergency message from her brother to come home for her father’s funeral. There, she encounters the man that has been erotically tormenting her in her dreams. Her fathers lawyer, Niall. Their attraction to each other is electric and undeniable. But will she act on her feelings? what about Charles? Is he what she really wanted? This wonderfully written story by Roxanne D. Howard is loaded with lies, suspense, romance, drama, betrayal.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this narration by Geoffrey Boyes. I was gifted this audiobook and offered my honest review.
I really enjoyed this story. I liked the characters, the slow burn romance, the sweet gentleman turn lover, then hero compared to her controlling fiance. It was a sweet romance story. I would read from this author again.
This is my first book by this author, and let me just say that I am pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the storyline, the characters and the author’s writing style. It is a unique romance betweenLark and Niall. Their strong connection is undeniable as they navigate the bumpy road to their forever after. It is an emotional journey of self-discovery as these two flawed souls work through their ‘relationship’ and overcome the challenges that face their feelings for each other. Quite well written and sexy, it is a slow burn love story with drama, heartbreak, uncertainty, suspense, and love, plus engaging secondary characters to keep the reader interested. It is a solid read with heart, heat and a happy ending.

Ms. Howard, where have you been? I’m so glad I have found you! What a wonderful book! I enjoyed every single page! Loved the plot. “Sleeping” with a “dreamy” man! What could be better? Travelling to Oregon and meeting him? Just loved it! And, yes, loved Niall!
This book kept me speechless. There is so much being swept up into an unexpected turn going on at at each turn of the page. It has an amazing intense storyline and strong plot roaring to life
A well written story that has suspense, drama, a nasty fiancé Charles who is really something, blackmail, assault, and romance. A story that held my interest throughout. This is Lark Braithwaite and the dreams she has of a man she has not met until she goes home for her father’s funeral and meets Irishman Niall O’Hagan. Lark and Niall are instantly attracted to each other. They can’t explain it but there is a sense of familiarity. There are a few twists and turns but eventually, they take us to our destination. Which is a happily ever after for this pair.

5 Stars for When You Close Your Eyes
ARC received from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own!
Roxanne D Howard is a new author for me & I’ve now added her to my TBR authors !
I was drawn to this book by the hot cover as well as the brief synopsis!!
Lark has a lover that comes to her in her dreams & it’s not her fiancé Charles. Circumstances surrounding the death of her father who she has been estranged from for many years brings her back to Portland , OR for the services.
This book has a great plot & great characters! When Niall appears – the family lawyer he is immediately drawn to Lark. What plays out is a having a dream become reality as these two work towards an eventually HEA!!
Great book
Read in almost one sitting !!
The story of Niall and Lark is erotic, intense and not without an obstacle or two. The characters are engaging and well developed. The story line and plot flow nicely for a smoking hot slow burn with flash points here and there. This author takes erotica to much more than hot sex. You will not regret picking up this book and diving in!
Who hasn’t dreamed of the perfect lover? Lark’s lover from her dreams appears in the flesh and throws a wrench in her seemingly perfect corporate life. Her fiancee Charles doesn’t take kindly to Niall O’Hagan and will do anything to control Lark’s life. This leads to a story full of drama, secrets and erotic sex scenes. Although I loved the premise of this romance, it was drawn out and the eroticism detracted from an otherwise interesting plot.
This Steamy and exhilarating romance captured my imagination right from the start. Lark is a strong, successful woman who seems to have it all. She lives in London and has a great job and sexy fiance. So why is she having hot and sexy dreams about a man she’s never met? She is struggling between what is real and what isn’t. When she gets a tragic call from her estranged family back in the states, she must race home. There she not only reconnects with the family she left behind, but she also meets the sexy man of her dreams. When her controlling fiance joins her in the states, she must decide if her dreams are real or not. This steamy and suspenseful story was a roller-coaster of emotions. It had me wondering what was really happening. Geoffrey Boyes did a nice job narrating this story. His accents and inflections were good, but I would have liked more distinct voices for each character. I also felt like I was being told this story instead of making me feel it. Other than that, I really enjoyed this unique, thrilling, and sexy romance.
3.5 stars
Lark’s been having seriously steamy dreams of a man ravishing her. Unfortunately, that dream lover is not her fiancé. Not in looks and certainly not in his prowess in the bedroom. But when she’s called home by her brother, she meets the man she’s literally been dreaming of. Will she fall headlong into him? Especially considering what a sleazebag her fiancé turned out to be.
One thing I will say about this story is that it’s seriously, seriously steamy and sensual. The bedroom scenes are so sexy I almost couldn’t believe them. And they were plentiful, too, too plentiful. But they’re the best part of the story, aside from the dreamy Niall. He’s so sweet and patient with Lark, who I must say I didn’t like or connect with at all. I felt badly for her for the way her ex treated her, but I didn’t like her or connect with her. Hence the 3.5 stars. Aside from her, though, the story was fast-paced and engaging.
DNF
I am a sucker for good romance and a hot sex scene but when the author can’t go a chapter with out throwing a sex scene and using so much profanity it gets a bit overwhelming. In three chapters I read three to four sex scenes. And the profanity didn’t allowed me to move forward with the book.
This was my first time reading from this author and I don’t believe I will read anything else from her.
