I was twelve years old when I fell in love with Piper Kelley. Even at the age of eight, she was everything I wasn’t: brave, bold, and beautiful. The night of my college graduation party, I finally made my move, but Piper only had eyes for one man—my younger brother. With a battered heart, I left for Vegas, determined to put her behind me. But eight years later, fate proved once again that it had … that it had never cared about my plans.
Now, I’m back home, and determined not to fall into the same trap I spent the majority of my adolescence trying to escape.
But when Piper finds herself at the risk of losing her medical license, I realize just how far I’m willing to go to protect her.
I was twelve when Piper Kelley became mine.
It’s time I let her know.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book! I enjoyed both main characters so much.
This is one of those reads that I have had for a while, and it loaded on my ancient Kindle, that wasn’t loading the book I was planning to read. I was very pleasantly surprised that I could not put this book down. I don’t really read unless my kids are asleep so mostly at night, but this one I read throughout the entire day to finish, I just had to know what happened. It starts with getting to know how close Piper and her twin brother Jack, with another family they are like brother and sisters with the family her Mom babysat for. Lawson, Hampton, and Georgia are all just so entwined with Piper’s life. Piper has been in love with Hampton since the day he saved her life when she finally tells him, She is devasted to learn he is gay. She refuses to give up on Hampton and they become the best of friends and both decide to become Drs. When Hampton gets into a relationship Pip is forced to move in with Lawson the older geeky brother who was always an overbearing jerk to Piper.
Lawson has just moved back to town after leaving years early, He is now roomies with the one woman that he has ever loved Piper.
Piper is made to be kinda dense in a way, even though she a doctor, shes really trusting, and a pushover. She has a good heart and would do anything for anyone. I liked her but some moments I was like girl open your eyes. Lawson, that boy had it so bad, it was obsession He had the sweetest mouth and treated Piper like a goddess. I loved it, it was a fun little adventure with some intrigue and kept me turning the pages all day.
I read this in a day, I could not put it down and I didn’t want it to end.
Piper and Lawson (beyond having freaking awesome names) were just wonderful characters.
I loved the back story for all of the characters. This story made me laugh (out loud), smile, cry and it kept me thinking.
There were many great lines in this book, Lawson especially when he talks to Piper. So sexy and smooth, he is very swoon worthy.
I loved everything about this book, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a love story years in the making.
It is my first read from A.S. Teague and I think I’ll read more and very soon.
Interesting read especially since the main characters grew up together and then later fell in love with one another plenty of action with the death of a sibling and a prescription drug investigation
This was such an amazing book, love, heartache, betrayal and more love! I can’t wait to read more from Teague. I hope she writes a book for Hampton!!!
It was a cute story but it was hard to really get drawn in. I felt the Characters were so crappy to Lawson I don’t know how he considered them really friends. It would have been nice to see more bonding moments where they weren’t constantly hating him for being a nerd.
Has mystery, intrigue, drama, heartache in just the right amount.
I really enjoyed this book, it was a super fast easy read and just what I needed.
I really loved the characters in this book, their family bond was beautiful, two families that loved each other like one huge family. They had each others backs and really looked out for each other.
The friendship between Piper and Hampton growing up was so special, everyone needs a friendship like theirs. Even though she was secretly in love with him, she kept that hidden and took the brotherly love he gave her instead.
Jack!! Poor Jack, I was devastated when he had the accident and cried real tears for him. Though of course that brought forward the first of many twists in this book.
If you are looking for a book full of love then this is definitely for you.
Awesome book
This was one book that I’ve had on my kindle for a while, that was recommended by a friend. I’ve never read any thing by this author before, and I was pleasantly surprised! This was a friends to lovers romance that was only a little angsty. But I just loved Lawson and Piper! I’ve never really wanted to strangle two characters from a book before as I do them!! Like seriously, they are 2 of the most hard headed make believe characters ever! I really enjoyed this story! I will definitely be reading more from this author!!
This book was so emotional from beginning to end. Loved it!!! A must read.
Loved this book! Don’t pass it up. Steamy, romantic, and great angst but fun too.
I really loved this story!! How have I missed out on reading this book sooner? I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t put it down!! A.S Teague’s writing is incredible and captivating. This book had such fun twists and turns in it. I am pretty sure I went through every single emotion reading this book. I absolutely fell in love with Lawson and Piper, they were sweet, fun and aggravating but their chemistry was off the charts!!! If you are looking for an amazing childhood friends to lovers book that will make you swoon and wish you had a Lawson in your life, I highly recommend this one!
4 Cranky Stars
Sweet and Romance all bundled into one. That is how this book is best described. It is a tale of friends becoming lovers. The slow burning romance that blossoms through the years. I found the story to be simple and sweet with a dash of humor in the mix. A good read for a lazy rainy weekend.
Piper is a bit clueless in my opinion. She doesn’t really see the things that are right in front of her face. A brother love triangle isn’t really my thing, I don’t like when females pin brothers against one another for their affection, but surprisingly this story of love isn’t as cliché as you would think. Its endearing and tender with the right amount of humor and mystery to balance out. I wish Piper would have noticed things sooner about Lawson. She was too hung up to realize.
Lawson is every girl’s dream. The guy to treat you right in all the right ways and to love you unconditionally. I love the love that he had through the whole book. It’s that kind of love you dream for and hope you have with your partner. He is that nerdy gorgeous with the perfect amount of romance to keep the fire burning.
I enjoyed this book and new for me author. It was a wonderful tender tale that will pull at the heartstrings and make you fall in love from the first page to the last. I give this book 4 fabulous Cranky Stars.
A great escape
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was my first by this author. Watching Piper and Lawson’s love story was pure pleasure. Hampton is an ass of epic proportions. The story is multi-layered and sucks you in. I highly recommend reading this book.
When you became mine…
Such a romantic statement, even if you have no idea the actions and measures taken to back it up. This sweet story is going to make you experience a bunch of emotions. But fear not, it will right itself.
When You Became Mine…
It makes the reader think back to their moment. The moment their person became “mine”. I think I appreciate it far more Fter having read this book.
Reviewed for Sweet Spot Sisterhood
Couldn’t put it down it’s that good! Wonderfully written!
Anyone who knows me knows I love a good enemies/friends to lovers book, and this one has to be one of my favorites!!!
Piper and her twin brother, Jack, grew up with Lawson, Hampton, and Georgia. As a little girl, Piper gave her heart to Hampton. He was her hero, always taking care of her and protecting her, at least that is what she thought! Lawson was Hampton’s older brother. In reality, he was the protector, only wanting happiness for Piper. However, she always saw him as judgmental, never realizing how deep his feelings were for her. After college,, he leaves, hoping never to return and have to face his feelings for Piper. Fast forward years later, and fate brings him back home and right back into Piper’s orbit and closer to her than he ever imagined. Oh wow, what a story these two have to share with us. It’s a tale full of love, emotion, drama, and a subplot involving some suspense. What you get is a great book, one that is hard to put down.
Lawson and Piper are very well-developed and complex characters. There was a whole other level to Lawson I didn’t know about. I discovered some of those at the same time Piper did. It’s funny how you think you know someone, but you have no clue. Once Piper’s eyes are opened to Lawson, she begins realizing what a treasure she had in front of her the whole time. I really enjoyed seeing these two discover each other in a completely different light.
The book does have some lighter moments, especially the banter between Piper and Lawson. The addition of Hampton and Georgia just made it funnier. While there were parts I really laughed at, there were also some really sad moments dealing with loss and how to move forward, especially when you harbor guilt.
I have to commend Teague for the addition of the subplot involving some suspense. In some books, that may be seen as an afterthought and not connected to the book as a whole. That was not the case in this book. It factored into the plot as a whole and added another level to the book.
When You Became Mine was a book that had it all….love, romance, spice, laughter, and most importantly, second chances. It made me stop, think, and really appreciate those I love! If you are looking for a book to capture both your heart and your mind, you can’t go wrong with this one!
I laughed, I swooned, I cried…well almost. I’m not a cryer but if you are there is a heartbreaking event at the beginning of this story about five youngsters that will pull a few tears out of you. Lawson, Hampton and Georgia are the Reeds sibs and twins, Piper and Jack, live with them. The twins’ mother is the Reeds nanny and the kids all grow up as siblings. This is an emotional story about great family dynamics, lasting friendship, tragedy and a sexy romance with characters that pulled me in and kept me engaged until the end. I loved the nerd turned sexy hunk Lawson and the golden boy Hampton. Georgia is sweet with a little quirk to her personality in a good way and Jack is a bad boy with a secret. Piper’s a feisty girl crushing on Hampton while Lawson harbors feelings for Piper but you wouldn’t know it by the way he acts, for the most part. When Piper realizes that Hampton will never return her feelings they move on to BFFs. After college and years away from home, and Piper, Lawson’s job brings him back and because of changes in Hampton’s life Piper needs a home and moves in with him. Well, his feelings are still there but he’s determined not to go there with Piper but Piper’s not immune to his new sexiness. Piper is a little harsh with Lawson but she’s dealing with a lot. There’s a lot of push and pull between these two but things soon get spicy as the two live under the same roof and a sweet, sexy romance blooms. I was glad to see some laughter for the stoic Lawson and happiness for this couple. This is a wonderfully written story about the trajectory of the lives of these five amazing characters that is entertaining and worth the read. I hope we get more stories about these terrific siblings. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC. 4.5 stars
Lawson, Hampton, Georgia, Piper and Jack were raised together, practically as brothers. The first three, the employer’s kids. Piper and Jack, twins, are the nanny’s children. Lawson, the eldest, has always been the most distant and reserved. A real nerd, he was not an athletic kid or teenager, he always had a book in his arms and was a joke on the part of the younger ones. Hampton has always been Mr. Popular, full of friends and good at sports. Piper loved Hampton. Lawson loved Piper. A girl. Two brothers. And many things not said among the three.
When a tragedy happens, Piper finally confronts Hampton. Except she did not expect the confession she heard. And so, the two narrow the bonds of friendship that have always existed. They become inseparable. And Lawson decides to leave because once again she chose his brother.
Years later, Piper and Hampton are doctors and still live together. Hampton is in a relationship, and Piper even after all this time still compares all men with him. She changed her plans, gave up the college of choice to stay with him, and year after year still puts him first.
Lawson is a computer genius. After so many years, he hoped he had already forgotten Piper. Back in his hometown, he knows it’s only a matter of time before he meets her again.
Piper, Hampton and Lawson. Adults now. And yet the triangle remains. Lawson loves Piper. Piper still puts Hampton first. With a shocking revelation from Hampton, Piper and Lawson end up dividing the same roof, and between fights and disagreements, these two will learn to know each other better.
Lawson was the star of the book. The discreet and quiet young man grew up and became a righteous man full of virtues. He has always been responsible, always kept others from doing something wrong. The episode of the pool and the accident already showed his character. Even hurt because of Piper’s actions, he welcomed her, opened his house for her, cared for her. He was passionate, loyal and protective.
Piper and Hampton have always been inconsequential. The scenes from childhood show that Piper always did what she wanted without caring about the consequences. She irritated me at the scene of the accident, running away from Lawson. Her bad idea of comforting Hampton was not at her best either.
Hampton was a mystery to me. I had not expected the turnaround and the secret he confessed, that part of the plot was brilliant. His friendship and dependence on Piper was sometimes selfish on his part, he knew how she felt, and used it to get things his way. With everything she’d given up to be with him, he might have been more sensitive about putting her out of home
The book presents a mystery, a twist in the final part. The villain is predictable, but nothing to compromise, the motives are different and the story interesting. I hoped that Lawson would finally get the girl of his dreams, that Piper could see it and find out the truth.
The text messages exchanged between the two brought lightness to the plot, it was nice to accompany Lawson in love and can demonstrate this feeling. Piper redeems herself by recognizing that she likes him, her fears are valid, but she’s willing to give that relationship a chance. I loved her finally seeing everything she gave up for Hampton, and the fact that he was not that close.
This is a second-chance novel, with a good guy to make you sigh, a woman who the reader may want to speak some truths in her face but that redeems herself, funny scenes, romantic, a little tension and a happy ending.
I got the impression that Hampton still has a story to tell. I wanted to know what his happy ending will be like.

A.S. Teague had me all over the plaxe emotionally! This book has you crying for what the group of friends went through. I loved the backstory of how things played out as they were younger and how they got to place there are now when Lawson comes back into town.
Lawson has been pining for Piper for years but she has always been oblivious to his feelings. When his brother forces Piper to move out and in with Lawson, will he be able to handle his feelings for her?
Piper goes through so many emotions when she I’d forced to move out of her home so thw newlyweds can get a fresh start. Will she be able to stand living with Lawson?
These two were great. The snarky back and forth I loved lol.
This book was so much more than just a romance book. The case Lawson has to break keeps you reading to see if they can figure it out. Enjoyed this book and look forward to more!!
