What an amazing way to meet a new author!
4,5 stars
I’ve been planning to read TIa Louise for quite a while, and I finally did it. And am I happy I did!
This is a stand alone, second chance, small town, contemporary romance and it was so adorably sweet.
Jackson and Emberly were teenage sweethearts and their love was so deep and pure. But their story together started way before that.
The problem is that they were facing so many obstacles they didn’t know of, and that was the end for them. That is until Jackson came back to town after ten years.
So many things have happened, so many things have changed, but the important things have remained the same, because when they meet again, When they touch, all their feelings and love sparkle!
They still have a lot to solve and fix, they have a lot to overcome and find out, but Ember, Jack and Coco (of course) have all it takes to start over as family.
And the secondary characters, both good and bad, were fundamental to the story. I loved reading them.
It was such a sweet, loving, sexy story. The plot had a lot of potential, even if some feelings were rushed sometimes, but I really loved this book and I’m certainly reading this author again.
A great second chance novel. I loved everything about it even though at times I wanted to punch her mom it was still an amazing story.
Love never waivers
This is the story of Jack (Jackson) & Ember. They spent the summer together before Jackson left for college. He never came back. Jack went to law school and is now one of the top litigators in a top five firm handling corporate corruption. It’s ten years and eleven months later. Ember has a four-year-old daughter. Jack thinks Ember no longer lives in the small town he’s now returned to. They meet again when Jack takes a job painting store fronts, which one is where Ember is making it a baking shop. Love is all consuming, always, in this story. It is special to savor it, so it may return. There are such deep feelings that Jack and Ember have always had for each other. There are some bumps in the road for them after his return, but they are solved with some help. Such great characters, too. You really feel all the emotion as you read. I always love Tia Louise’s books, and am looking forward to more.
Cinnamon kisses and sandy beach rendezvous
When We Touch the world cease to exist, or at least that’s the way it feels. He left long ago and never returned. She has mourned the loss for years.
An unplanned return has both their worlds tilted on its axis. Love lost. Love ignore. Love abandoned. However you want to label it, things are about to change!
Sexy and sweet with a side of sassy BFF, When We Touch is another Happily Ever After to make you smile, sigh, and hope for you own cinnamon kisses.
This is probably the best 2nd chance romance I have read in a long time. It’s a smooth read from start to finish and was the perfect book to introduce me to this author. I am now adding the rest of her books to my TBR list. Tia Louise writes characters that will feel like your friends by the time the story is finished. Emberly and Jackson are so relatable and their love journey and struggles are very realistic.
The reasons Jackson and Emberly have been apart for 10 years turn out to be not what they thought. Each of them had been lied told different lies. The surprising part is just exactly where those lies generated from. Uncovering those lies is both painful and healing.
Thankfully there is another book called When We Kiss, so I didn’t have to say goodbye to these characters quite yet. That book revolves around Emberly’s best friend.
An incredible love story that had me captivated. This is a second-chance romance that is powerfully inspiring, emotionally raw, and breathtakingly romantic. Jackson and Emberly are electric together; their chemistry and passion explosive. Add to the mix an adorable four-year old that steals the show in every scene. The storyline is incredibly well-written and flowed seamlessly. The twists and turns are a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I could feel everything the characters experienced; the emotions radiate from the pages. The heartfelt moments stole my breath and the heartbreaking ones hit me hard. Their relationship is tested time and again and how they fight for one another is breathtaking. A powerful story of love, faith and forgiveness that I didn’t want to end! I highly recommend reading this beautiful love story!
The angst, the small town lies, the loyalty. It was so good to be back in Oceanside and I’m so sad it’s over! An expertly written story that will have you laughing, crying and wanting to chuck your book all at the same time. Dreams do come true and second chances are real.
When We Touch is a heartbreaking and beautiful second chance love story about Emberly Warren and Jackson Cane. Young love where initially the separation was supposed to be brief, Jackson was only going off to college, but his intention was to always to come back for Ember. Unfortunately, due to outside interferences they were separated causing heartbreak.
Now it is a decade later and they both had tried to move on; Jackson is a successful lawyer and Ember is starting her cake business and had little Coco. After a situation at Jackson’s firm, Jackson decided he needed a break and decided to go back to where he last felt some peace, back to Oceanside. After a few uncomfortable run-ins, they both realize that they had been misled on what caused their separation. What ensues is these two finding their way back to each other.
I really enjoyed this book, I felt so many emotions reading their story. My heart broke for both Ember and Jackson, especially with what led to their separation, and how they had been living half a life. I also became so upset and angry for the reasons from the meddling individuals. And those swoony and steamy moments between these two was hot. And I loved the sweet scenes with Coco and Ember and Jackson all together. There were a few twists and turns that got pretty intense.
Another great book by Tia Louise.
Another unbelievably wonderful book from the world of Oceanside, created by the incredible Tia Louise. I got this book instantly after finishing “When We Kiss,” and just loved returning to this unforgettable small town with its colorful characters. I especially loved that the book was about Emberly and Jackson, because I’d gotten curious about them in “When We Kiss.” This book was every bit as passionate, emotional, and moving as the first one. I’m always a little more invested when there’s a kid involved in the story–yeah, call me old-fashioned, but whatever–and I really loved the fact that Ms. Louise involved this child in a really unconventional way. It made the story that much more gripping and real for me. Life isn’t always neat, clean, and defined. Despite this unique twist, the details of the plot were handled efficiently and passionately, with no surrender of the central love story. Overall, such a beautifully told story. Absolutely loved it. Every freaking word!
Incredibly beautiful friends-to-lovers second chance romance! Filled with love, humor, swoon-worthy moments and extra little surprises, this book is highly recommended!
Amazing, Heartbreaking and Passionate story of young love and second chances.
I loved Jackson and Emberly together. This story was written so good that you felt every smile, tear and laugh that they scared together. It’s really bad when family gets involved and damages relationships.
I loved seeing Coco and Jackson together.
Must Read!!!!!!
So, I was reading the bonus parts in The Last Guy by Ilsa Madden-Mills, and thought the 13 chapters of When We Touch was a novella. Wrong. I got to the end of Chapter 13, and was like, What? Where is the rest of the story? So, I checked this out on KU to find out. Because, having read the first half of the book, it was good enough that I had to find out how it ended.
Well edited.
Jackson and Emberly fell in love in high school. They were together right up until Jackson went away to school. They tried to keep in touch, but it didn’t take long for them to give up. Emberly moved on with another guy. Right? Jackson never looked back. Right? Nearly 11 years later, and most everything has changed. Jackson is high-powered attorney. Emberly is trying to start a bakery while raising her little girl. Jackson’s last case left a very bad taste, and he seeks solace in the town he left behind. Part of that solace is finding out why Emberly moved on so quickly, and bringing closure to his battered heart. Emberly is so surprised to find the man painting her building is her first love. Why does her heart reach out for him when he broke it so many years ago? As Jackson tries to reconnect with Emberly, others will do anything to stop it. Including using Emberly’s child as a pawn. Who would do such a thing and why? As truths come to light, Emberly finally learns that the connection she shares with Jackson goes deeper than she ever imagined. Will adulthood and technology allow them to stand up for their love this time?
This was an enjoyable read. First love, true love, forever love. Neither Jackson nor Emberly truly let go, and in doing so, held on to the promise of forever. Enjoy!
I do not know which book I like better When We Touch or When We Kiss. When we Touch is just amazing. I have a feeling a lot of readers can relate to Emberly she is an amazing character whose life has not gone as planned and has been pretty much planned out for her. Jackson on the other hand is a head strong man who once he sets his mind to something he is going to get it. PLUS he is an amazingly sexy man. I read these books out of order, but they are so well written it does not matter. Tia Louise is an amazing author and I would recommend her books to anyone.
This book is about young love that lost its way and was rekindled years later. Jack and Em had a been in love before he left for college but people kept them apart. Come to find out their connection is even deeper than just love and one event when they were young kids would shape their lives more than they could imagine. This book was sweet. You could feel the heartbreak. The bitterness of the mom and the deep love between Jack and Em. My first book by Tia and it won’t be my last!!
“When we touch, the hurts are healed. The dream changes from darkness and fear to a story of fantasy and rescue, of pirates finding magical mermaids, of two hearts uniting in an unbreakable bond no ancient bitterness or hurt can break. When we touch the dream comes true.”
Sweet and sexy second-chance romance. Filled with heart and humor, and dashes of angst, suspense and drama. Strong and resilient Emberly, adorable and sassy Coco, and charming and determined protector Jack will capture your heart in When We Touch.
I’m a sucker for second chance stories and this was right up my alley. My first book by Tia Louise and she delivered a beautiful and heartfelt one. Why on earth haven’t I read any books by this author sooner? That’s my mistake and I’m definitely going to make amends for that.
Emberly and Jackson share a long history going way back to them being kids. I felt an immediate connection with them and as they got older my connection only strengthened. Their love was pure and innocent yet also very sensual.
Jackson and Emberly are victims of their surroundings meddling and judgements. Finding their way back to each other was a ride filled with emotions and so many interesting people who had an opinion of them as a couple. I enjoyed myself so much in Emberly and Jackson’s company.
There’s no doubt that they’re soulmates cause their love and history are heartbreaking and beyond beautiful. Their chemistry and connection is out of this world! Whenever they’re around one another sparks and need were all over place. I loved it.
I loved that they’d learned from past mistakes and when it finally mattered they stood by one another.
Emberly’s bestie Tabby was incredible and the perfect and loyal support for her. Other characters like Coco and André made an impact on me as they also did on Jackson.
There’s some surprises along the way and I liked the twist and turns only adding unpredictability to the story which I appreciate.
When We Touch is an incredible second chance romance that delivers with strong and layered characters and bucketful of emotions. Just what I needed and can’t recommend it enough.
4 Saltwater Kisses Stars
I enjoyed reading this book!!!!! I love how the story starts with two young lovers then goes to being sad but you want to keep reading in hopes that Jackson & Ember get back together because you want that to happen. and I love how it ends! I recommend this book and author !!!!!
“It’s our place. The place where we’re the only two people on Earth.”
This is a fantastic second chance romance. When I started reading it I definitely had the pieces figured out wrong…then when details were revealed I was surprised that ones I thought would play a major part just faded into the story. I do love how everything feel together and was revealed.
“When she looked at me, I believed I could do anything.”
I myself lived through a second chance romance so I’m kinda drawn to these storylines. Some workout and some are necessary for closure and the ability to move forward.
“Go home.” “You are my home.”
This book carries you through many emotions. You will feel the love, hope, betrayal, anger, relief, hurt, deceit, doubt and steaminess.
Looking forward to the next release in the series WHEN WE KISS. I’m hoping it also includes some of the characters I was introduced to and fell in love with in When We Touch.
I absolutely love a second chance romance and I am also a bit sweet on Ms. Tia Louise’s fabulous characters and amazing storylines. How could I go astray with When We Touch !!
This is young love that was so hopeful and strong for a future together. Little did Jackson and Emerbly know that their past would dictate their future.
Emberly is young, sweet and so in love with Jackson. Jackson has never known a love so strong as the one he feels for Ember.
When Jackson leaves for college it is agreed that they will wait for each other, but life happens and people can change…so they think! Tia did an amazing job at writing a believable and indebt cast of supporting characters. You may love some but love to hate the others. They all have their role to play!
I loved the beautifully written heart touching story of their second chance!!!
I was provided with an arc in return for my honest review.

When We Touch is another 5 star read from Tia Louise. It’s a slightly angsty, beautifully emotional, touching story of a connection that began when they were children and has only gotten stronger even though they’ve been apart for a decade. Ember and Jackson were just teens when they fell in love, but he had to leave for college. They were both expecting him to come back for her, but when it became apparent to Ember that he wasn’t coming back, she went out and found someone else for a hot minute to comfort her. Fast forward nearly 11 years later and Jackson’s suddenly back in their small hometown, not knowing she’s still there, not knowing the love of his life is still there.
When they meet again, it’s not a reunion of the heart, no, because Ember was brutally devastated by his abandonment, and she’s angry, still so angry. Jackson knows something is wrong, he’s not expecting to see her, but when he does, he immediately knows he has to get his love back. When the whole story comes out, secrets are revealed and both are reeling. Betrayal, some serious meddling by people who really should have known better, who should have done better, and it’s looking like the two may never get their second chance. But, their love is even stronger now that they’re adults, mature adults, and it will win out, if they let it.
Tia Louise is the queen of beautiful, passionate romance that’s never overdone. When We Touch is the perfect example of this. Jackson and Ember have such a strong connection and it’s apparent that time has only made it stronger. He’s such a great hero, strong, sweet, compassionate and with a tender heart. Ember is strong, too, so strong, she’s been through so much and yet she’s never let it get her down, she only let it make her stronger and given her an open heart ready for love. That she loves Jackson with her whole being is so obvious. Their second chance story is really the stuff that dreams are made of. Kudos, Tia for this amazing, beautiful story!
