#1 New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery masterfully explores the definition of a modern family–blended by surprise, not by choice–and how those complicated relationships can add unexpected richness to life. “Heartwarming…this book is sweet and will appeal to readers who enjoy the intricacies of family drama.”–Publishers Weekly Life is meant to be savored, but that’s not easy … savored, but that’s not easy with no family, limited prospects and a past you’d rather not talk about.
Callie Smith doesn’t know how to feel when she discovers she has a brother and a sister–Malcolm, who grew up with affection, wealth and privilege, and Keira, a streetwise twelve-year-old. Despite her trepidation, she moves into the grand family home with her siblings and grandfather on the shores of Lake Washington, hoping just maybe this will be the start of a whole new life.
But starting over can be messy. Callie and Keira fit in with each other, but not with their posh new lifestyle, leaving Malcolm feeling like the odd man out in his own home. Becoming a family will take patience, humor, a little bit of wine and a whole lot of love. But love isn’t Malcolm’s strong suit…until he learns that an open heart, like the family table, can always make room for more.more
Susan Mallery never disappoints. Super writer, great characters, fun read.
Susan Mallery is a very good author. I have enjoyed all of her books.
I like this book as I did her book A Million Little Things. The family dinamics were interesting. My only issue with Ms Mallory’s books is that suddenly there is a sex scene and it is clinically descriptive. The words sort of jump out at you making it sex and not romance. It’s is like she found these terms at her gynecologist office and felt the need to use them. It doesn’t match her writing style at all in the rest of the books. I am listening to Tulip Sisters now and will just skip those pages when they come up. But seriously it is like she had someone else write in the sex or had an anatomically correct word list she was required to use.
I just finished. I loved the characters. They each had a touching story with a tragic background. The Seattle setting was very real. And the best part is that it begs for a couple of lovely sequels.
Susan Mallery never disappoints.
Am looking for more of her books.
Such nice characters and interesting twists and turns as a new family develops. Look forward to seeing more of this family I’m Mallory’s writting
Good beach read!
I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.
excellent, great characters – loved them all.
Well written
I thought it was great
A good read about second chances.
Not only love between couples, but family love and acceptance. Susan Mallery can always be counted on for a good read.
A great story about how how three separate individuals previously unknown to each other their entire lives, discovery they are half siblings – Malcolm who grew up in wealth and privelege, Kiera who grew up in foster care, and Callie who made a mistake at age 18 resulting in her spending 6 years in prison. The story is how they came together and learned through little day to day things as well as big things, to trust each other and become a family. Malcom and Callie both find love and their love interests are excellent supporting characters who are also trying to find what their own joy. No one helps the other find it. The characters work together to find love and joy and peace and family. When I sigh at the end of a book with a happy smile and teary eyes, I know it was a good one. This was a good one.
I enjoyed seeing these three siblings come together for the first time in their lives. It was great to see how clueless the brother was but determined to learn how to relate to his sisters. I can’t imagine having my entire life as I know it completely change. Great story.
BEAUTIFUL !!! A HAVE TO READ!
This book had different types of characters who came together as a family. The book was interesting and not just a “regular” romance novel although there was romance in the book. The central idea is family. Families have all kinds of issues and this one is no exception. The characters are interesting and the story line is one that I enjoyed.
Let me just say that Susan Mallery’s books never disappoint. From the start I was drawn to Malcolm, Keira and Callie’s stories. Keira, at 12, is spunky and more worldly than I am. I hope there is a book for when she gets older so we can see her fall in love. Callie, I love her and she’s someone you could be friends with. She’s honest, loving and a great big sister to Keira. Malcolm took some getting used to but his heart down deep loves his sisters and wants to do right by them. This amazing story contains different kinds of love stories. Romantic and familial and I want more!
If you enjoy a fast paced unique story that keeps you enthralled in the lives and loves of Malcolm, Keira and Callie, I highly recommend When We Found Home!
An awesome book!!
