Ben Ross has spent years putting his childhood crush out of his mind. After all, Drew married his older brother, not him, putting her forever out of his reach. He never expected his brother to get cancer, move home to Timber Creek with his wife and young son—or to ask him to watch over them when he was gone. Ben swore he’d never cross a line with Drew, but the months since his brother’s death have been hard on all of them. He’s already stepped in to help raise his brother’s son. He’s having a hard time not falling head over heels again for his brother’s wife…
A heartwarming story of loss, love and new beginnings.
If you love Chance Creek, you’ll love Timber Creek, too. Give When We Fell a try – you won’t be disappointed.
Wow! Elena Aitken can really write. She is a phenomenal writer. She knows what her readers want in a book and always go beyond what they want.
In When We Fell we get Drew and Ben’s story. Both Ben and Drew are on a journey. They are learning to move forward and pick up their shattered lives and rebuild them. They are learning acceptance. Drew is discovering who she is with out Eric and moving forward. Drew is learning how to be a single parent to her son Austin. Ben is learning how to go on without his big brother. Both Ben and Drew’s struggles are very relatable. Their chemistry is perfect. They fit together like two puzzle pieces. I loved the secondary character’s. I also enjoyed catching up with Evan and Cam, Christy and Mark and Amber and Logan.
I really enjoyed When We Fell. This was a very heartwarming story that captivated my heart and soul from page one and kept it captivated til the end. At times I cried and laughed and even had hearswooning moments. Reading When We Fell made my heart swell with emotion. Drew and Ben’s story was relatable to me. When We Fell deserves to be on the New York Times and USA Today’s Bestselling list. When We Fell was a sweet story. Elena Aitken’s words danced off the pages right into my heart.
NO SPOLIERS Wow When we Fell is truly a redemption and second chance romance. Elena’s Timber Creek series is all about emotions and definitely brings them out in me. This is Drew and Ben’s story and wow it packs a huge emotional punch. All I can say is if you like the second chance and emotional reads this series is for you.
A moving and Heartwarming book. Ms. Aitken has done it again. When Drew loses her husband the only thing that’s important to her is Austin. Her son. Her friends and Eric’s brother Ben help her through the pain and loss of her husband.
What is so beautiful about this story is the friendship and something else that develops between Ben and Drew. A secret he’s hidden.
Highly recommend this book which can be read as a stand-alone. But I would recommend reading this series.
Fourth in the Timber Creek Series and my favorite, so far. This story deals with loss and renewal. There is heartbreak, stress, depression and romance. The character interactions are well and truly done, in places, a little over the top, but I felt an emotional link with the characters. Well done and a good read.
This is the last of the Timber Creek books and yes, it is a standalone however there is SO much goodness in this series that you’ll want to read the ones before When We Fell. We’ve met Drew and Ben before however this is their story. And let’s not forget Austin! OMG, this five year old little boy melted my heart.
Drew’s husband just recently passed away, from a long bout of fighting cancer, and she is back in her hometown where there are family and friends to help with her and Austin’s path out of grief. She truly was in love with her husband Eric and had spent most of the last year of his life talking through what life would be like for Drew and their son after he had passed. IMHO, the author really made you feel the grief and love that these two had…
The person who has helped Drew and Austin the most was Ben, Eric’s younger brother. Drew and Ben have been friends since they were little, close through most of school, until Drew fell in love with his big brother, Eric. Drew and Ben grow close but that is such a simple, the author handles the growing relationship between Drew and Ben with such heart and love that I cannot begin to describe it. It’s a hard topic to discuss but Ms. Aitken does it so well; it is truly believable with how everyone handles it. There’s another hard topic with two secondary characters; for some, it, too, is touchy but again, the story is wonderfully warm and believable.
I highly recommend When We Fell and the entire Timber Creek series – it will touch your heart, and your funny bone.
