Do you remember that moment? That one moment. The one when you changed.People might say it was this or that, but deep down you know. You know exactly what that moment was. Even if you’re not ready to admit it to yourself. You know.I remember mine, it didn’t just change me.It changed everything.Everyone thought Mason Knight would be the whirlwind that swept me away, my unexpected hero in a leather … me away, my unexpected hero in a leather jacket. But no one could’ve seen it coming. That moment woke me up and made me see that when we fall, sometimes we need help to get back up.

When We Fall by Olivia Rose is book one in the Rocky Falls series. This is the story of Erin Michaels and Mason Knight.
Erin is a senior in Rocky Falls High and is having to suffer through bulling brought on by mean girl Teagan who is dating Evan who is suppose to be her friend…but he never stand up for her. Then a new boy comes to the school named Mason. Who isn’t to talkative but does start to help her with those that are bulling her. Slow friendship starts to develop but not everything is clear with what is going on with Mason. This is for sure a emotional read that you may need some tissue for.
First book I have read from this writer. There are no words to explain just how amazing this book is. Erin is a senior in high school. High school is not a happy place for her until Mason the new kid walks into her life. Thank things start to change but they don’t change for other people. A tragic event changes everyone’s life. I loved Erin. Her character was so very well written . You can feel every single emotion that she feels. I love her and Mason together. I will admit I did cry a couple of times reading this one. But this storyline happens every day in schools. I can’t wait to read more from these two. I know there is more to their story. Amazingly written gripping right from the beginning. Highly recommend.
Olivia Rose and high school was a great treat in this book filled with the typical school life we hated. I felt for Erin, her struggles and trying to not gain attention especially when it comes to Mason. I was quite surprised with Olivia Rose and certain scenes in this book that in some cases might seem tough to take but did it gracefully. All ages in readers will love this book and able to see what Erin goes through making you go aah, cry and even laugh at times. This is one author this reader will definitely be going to keep looking out for don’t miss it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
To be honest I didn’t feel a connection with the characters in this book, especially with Erin. I didn’t understand how she could just brush something so sensitive and crucial under the rug and just keep going knowing full well what was going to continue happening and not do anything about it. I get it, it’s not easy and sometimes your self-esteem isn’t strong enough for you to be a strong person.
I know it’s hard to deal with this issue and many kids don’t deal well with it and end up doing something that later on everyone will feel and think how they couldn’t help or why didn’t he/she ask for help.
I felt like I wanted to jump into the book and shake some sense into this girl to stand up for herself or let Monica help her in dealing with the bullies in school. Sometimes these kids need a little shaking in order to do the right thing and I don’t care how bad asses these dumb little shits think they are, they are no one to be bullying others. In this case, I’m glad that Tegan, got what she deserved and it taught her a good life lesson.
I wasn’t particularly drawn to the first half of the book but I continued on because I wanted to know what was going to happen, if Erin finally grew a back bone or if she continued letting these fools run her life. I was happy with how the second half erupted and how Mason just swooped in and became her knight in shining armour because she needed that.
Mason came to this little town to straighten his life since he was involved with some bad people before and needed to get himself together for his grandma and his younger brother. I loved how he would stand up for Erin and how he won her trust and he was what caused her to boost her confidence in herself.
So, I commend the author for doing a well job on the 2nd half of the book. I just wish there was a little more to the story as everything felt like it was just put together too quickly. I felt like stuff was missing in this story, but overall it wasn’t a bad book.
This doesn’t mean that I won’t pick up another book by this author. Just because you didn’t connect with one book doesn’t mean you won’t with the next one. I will most certainly continue reading from Olivia Rose, unless they all turn out to be duds, which I’m sure that won’t be the case 🙂
This book was so good! I will definitely read more from this author. This book tells the tale of high school and all the ups and downs.
Can’t wait for more from this author
Truly a gift to read.
Breathtaking and captivating from start to finish. Rose explores social issues and teenage development with a fresh, poetic perspective that was hauntingly beautiful to read.
I had the pleasure of reading this story when it was first published, and reading it again after some major rewrites and under a new pen name, I expected some of the magic to be lost because I was prepared for the wrenching scenes that destroyed me the first time. Clearly I underestimated Olivia Rose in a big way because this was just as impactful and thought provoking the second time around.
What an eye opening, modern brilliance of a Bildungsroman. One that’ll take you on an emotional rollercoaster and remind you of the complexity and power of teenage emotions. Your thoughts and your heart will remain between the pages long after you’ve finished reading (and I’d recommend lining up some steamy, easy reading to heal your soul afterwards) but my god is it worth it!!
I can’t wait for the next in the series as I have so many questions about so so many characters that need answers!
This book brings to life how tough high school can be. Olivia Rose did a great job in bringing to life just horrible bullying really is. I picked this book up and read it without wanting to put it down. I had to know how it all played out.
Erin was abandoned at a church as baby. She was taken in by the Monica, the Pastor’s sister, and had a wonderful, love filled home life. But trying to survive her last year of high school was anything but wonderful. Being constantly picked on and bullied, she’s just trying to lay low and not be seen. She’s especially trying to hide from Teagan, mean girl extraordinaire, who also happens to be the girlfriend of the boy she’s had a crush for forever.
Then there’s Mason Knight, the new kid in town. Erin’s Knight in shining armor. He saw something in her from day one, and protecting her becomes his life’s mission. We don’t get a lot of back story on Mason, I’m hoping that book two is going to explore that some more.
Bullying is s tough subject, physically and emotionally, it takes its toll on Erin, and Mason. But they can’t protect everyone from the affects of it. The longer it goes on, the worse it gets and tragedy strikes. Who is going to come out on the other side?
I can’t wait for the next book to be released. I want more of Erin and Mason!!!

When We Fall
Olivia Rose
For me, When We Fall by Olivia Rose left some things unfinished. Or rather, without explanation. WWF is the first book on the Rocky Falls Series, so things may be explained on next one.
I don’t feel comfortable writing reviews for books I don’t like. My opinion is mine, doesn’t mean others won’t like. I encourage everyone to read it and reach their own conclusion.

Para mim, When We Fall de Olivia Rose deixou algumas coisas inacabadas.
Eu encorajo todos a lerem e tirarem as próprias conclusões.

When We Fall is revamped and I still love it!!!
I am lost for words for When We Fall. Hats off to Olivia in writing an AMAZING, Powerful, Memboral story. So many emotions throughout the book. I didn’t want Mason and Erin’s story to end. When We Fall is a MUST read. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I need more of Erin and Mason.
Memboral,Powerful, Meaningful, Swoon Worthy, Knight in shinning armor, Romance
The blurb and gorgeous cover for When We Fall caught my attention and I was excited to read it. However that was the best part of this book.
I had a very hard time staying engaged with the story. The writing was a bit choppy and juvenile and I struggled to even finish it after abandoning it multiple times.
I really wanted to like this book, the premise was great, but the writing style just didn’t do it for me.
I did end up finishing it, it just wasn’t for me though. I really wanted to love it but it missed the mark.
This was a great story is struggling with bullies but finding a happy ending. The portral is a real life issue and may not always end the way this story did. Olivia did a great job. This is a story you can understand and learn from. This was told in the first person view and it will grip you. The characters are absolutely great, you can feel everything they feel and maybe have been in their shoes at some point in your life. I know I did. Erin and Mason are strong characters and apparently made for each other. Each one giving to the other in ways that matter. There is more to Erin and Mason’s story because they’re is an underlying part of Erin’s life we have yet to see. A must read. Can’t wait for the rest of Erin and Mason’s story.

When We Fall by Olivia Rose is downright scary and heartbreaking at the same time. It tells you some harsh truths about being bullied and the struggles that kids face in school. It opens your eyes to how oblivious others are to it if your not the one being bullied also. This book also does a wonderful job of showing you that it only takes one person, one act of kindness and one moment to change someone or a situation for the better. Erin is that one kid that wants nothing but to just survive high school. She wants to be happy and to enjoy her life but it’s made impossible by one girl in one school. That is until Mason shows up and changes her life in ways she couldn’t ever dream of.
Love this story, the characters and the writer. Would definitely tell people that this is a must read!!!
5 Stars are not enough!! Getting through High School is hard enough – but when you are bullied by the mean girls every day is that much harder. But Erin is counting down the days until graduation, but she never counted on the new kid, Mason, who spins her last year of High School and finally gives Erin the chance to feel loved and appreciated. But will this lead her into feeling of false hope? Will the other shoe eventually drop? I cannot say enough praise for not only the beautifully written characters but also for the well constructed and well written plot filled with HS angst, young love, strength and devastation that Olivia Rose put into this book. Every chapter built off the one before and had my emotions all over the place. The pinnacle of the story had me on the edge of my seat and I could literally feel the pain. Olivia Rose, stand up and take a bow on a job well done!!
Y’all… I just… This book restored my faith in humanity a little bit. I have 3 girls and my middle daughter will be heading to middle school soon and I worry for her. Mean girls are real and being victimized by Regina George can’t always be laughed off in real life. So When We Fall truly hit home in a real and deep way for me. Now, let me take a second and tell you something else – Mason Knight is EVERYTHING. He alone is worth the price of admission, but this book was so much more than that. I can’t wait to continue the series and exist in the world of Rocky Falls again. This was my first book by Olivia Rose but it won’t be my last. This is the way to write a book with youthful characters in a real way that still appeals to a broader audience. Well done! 4 out of 5 wine glasses.
I love reading books from new-to-me authors. Finding authors that engage you straight away and make you become addicted is always exhilarating and this book gave me all the feels. I cried, I got angry, I swooned, I laughed and I loved, even more I loved every word.
Reading this it reminded me of why I hated high school (what we call Senior school in the UK) its hard, especially when bullying is involved, girls can be just as nasty as boys, maybe even more so.
Erin just wants to survive her last year as a senior and fly under the radar but others in her year are determined to not let that happen. I got so ragey at how badly she was treated and how everyone just ignored it.
Mason is the new hot guy in town, the typical reformed bad-boy that draws you in and makes me swoon. When he is seated next to Erin in class he is instantly drawn to her and wants to be her friend and get to know her. He will have a hard job demolishing all her protective walls but he does and oh how I loved watching Erin bloom under his friendship .
There are some truly heartbreaking events that almost destroyed me and I found it hard to read through the tears but I loved the way it shows how forgiving and resilient we really are. How in tragedy we can band together.
I really loved Mason and Erin, I was unsure at the beginning as he seemed too good to be true but I honestly loved them together. He seemed to give Erin strength to stand up for herself, and they were so damn cute together.
I am looking forward to seeing what happens next with Erin and Mason
With high school bullying being such a talked about issue these days, writing a book with bullying at its heart would be difficult. To do so with warmth, humor and a sense of rightness makes this novel compelling and a book I would recommend to any who love a story filled with hope. Look forward to reading more from this author
When We Fall by Olivia Rose is a Young Adult Romance set in the small town of Rocky Falls. It has everything you can expect in a Young Adult Romance. The school dramas. The first love. The anguish, uncertainty and trouble of young souls.
I sometimes feel I have grown out of this genre because may be I cannot connect with the characters. I decided to give it a try as I loved the cover and few recent amazing reads. Olivia Rose did a commendable job with the story. Erin had a tough upbringing. Abandoned by birth parents. Bullied by girls like Tegan, the head cheerleader and queen bee and the guys alike. She is a brilliant student with lots of love inside but the environment is inhibiting her to go out of her shell. Until Mason Knight with his sexy bad boy persona enters the school and become her friend. And then more.
I can understand Erin’s struggle. I feel so heartbroken for her. Very few people like her foster mom and close friends like Scottie is kind and caring to her. She is used and abused. Honestly I hoped her to fight back a bit more. We see glimpses of her attitude and sass when she is with Mason. I just wish she could be a little bit more assertive. I loved Mason. He is honest, loyal and protective. And he didn’t give up even when Erin treated him badly due to some misunderstandings. The ending dealt with very sensitive and relevant issue is schools. The story had some deeply moving moments.
When We Fall by Olivia Rose is a sweet and emotional love story which also deals with some social issues. A captivating story but I couldn’t shake the feeling that something is missing. Like the perfection is just there yet out of my grasp! Young Adult romance lovers definitely give it a try.
Received ARC for Honest Review
This book was amazing. It had twists and turns like you would not believe (until you decide to read it!). The situations are very hard and happen very often today. People are mean. But, this book gives you hope that you can overcome anything and be stronger because of it. This book gives you hope that no matter what, love wins. I felt so invested in this book and couldn’t stop reading it.
Erin and mason are an unexpected couple that make you swoon. Circumstances beyond their control happen and it makes them closer than ever. One person is out to keep them apart, but they do not win. A horrible thing happens, but the characters come out stronger than ever. I thought this was a real eye opener on this subject that is so hard to talk about. It makes you see how much you can be hurt and what the consequences can be.
This author wrote an amazing book. I hope you buy it!! You won’t regret it!!
I love so many things about this read. Erin and Murphy are wonderful. There story delves into real social issues of our time such as bullying, mental illness, abandonment, violence and death. All these elements produced a variety of emotions. My momma bear came out at times and I wanted to see some justice (eek).
This book is well written, intriguing and interesting. I did question the swift resolution of a traumatic event that I am not sure would not haunt someone the rest of their life. I know it is a novel and maybe I should embrace the romanticism and imaginary aspects (haha).
The end of this story was considerate and didn’t leave me with too many questions. I look forward to future books from this author and anything else she has to tell me about Erin and Murphy’s story (wink). Happy Reading!
Wow! This story is a heartbreaking depiction of teenage life and how they process and deal with some difficult situations. Parts of this story were really hard for me to read. It’s so raw and real seeing these teens and all that they have to endure. There was a myriad of emotions that were prevalent in the story – anger, loss, guilt and remorse. As heartbreaking as it was, it was also a heartwarming romance between two beautiful souls.
“You are my world. My one. My forever and always. You are everything.”
The story begins with Erin Michaels as she starts her senior year of high school at Rocky Falls. Day in and day out she is subjected to harsh bullying by the popular girl and her crew. It broke my heart time and time again seeing all that she had to endure, but she is strong and doesn’t let it break her. It also helped that she had one close friend to turn to whenever she needed a pick me up.
“I want to show the world, the moon and the stars that you are mine and I am yours.”
Then things begin to look up when the new guy, Mason Knight, is seated beside her in class. He talks to her and is nice to her; something that she is not used to. So when he asks her to tutor him she has no qualms about helping him out. The two of them quickly become friends and over time the relationship develops into so much more. He is her sanctuary from the storm that is her life, and I absolutely adored him. He is kind, thoughtful, protective and swoon-worthy. A knight in shining armor who showed her that she was beautiful, special and worthy of love. I could not get enough of the two of them.
“I want you to stretch your wings and fulfill your dreams, but I want you to make me your home.”
The gorgeous cover and intriguing blurb are what drew me to this novel, but the story-line is what truly hooked me. It will tear out your heart and rip it in two, but in the end it’s stitched back together again. All in all, this was a well written, emotional tale with some real gut-wrenching moments. It will definitely open your eyes to the harsh reality of the world today and what our teens are subjected to.
