At twenty-seven, detective Clarissa Tempest is one of the best at sniffing out goons, but these particular goons seem to be the bloodsucking kind. Vamps aren’t real, right? Of course not. But Clarissa knows what she’s seen. Unfortunately, she’s a little distracted, and her actions earn her a suspension. Great. Life is really looking up. Maybe her therapist is right. Maybe she’s under too much … too much stress and is seeing things.
But then a vamp seeks her out, telling her to knock it off and leave them alone or else he’ll knock her off.
Clarissa isn’t the kind to back down, though, and she’ll do whatever it takes to keep Bethlehem safe. She’s just hoping that won’t require her to lose a lot of blood… or her head.

One female cop with an uncanny ability to uncover crimes even the unbelievable.
When Vamps Bite introduces Clarissa Tempest, an overzealous vice detective married to her work you quickly learn that what she lacks in social skills she excels at in crime-solving. Her career takes a hit when she witnesses the impossible, a vampire draining a woman in an alley. Although she’s reluctant to believe eventually, she’s going to have to admit vampires are real. Clarissa proves she’s no quitter when she goes after her perps.
The book concentrates on a cop who witnessed a vampire feeding/Killing.
Ofcourse nobody on the force believes her and she is forced to take a ‘vacation’. She is determined to investigate it by herself. By snooping around she finds previous victims and also keeps running in trouble.
It’s a story full of plot twists and keep you wanting more and more. Can’t wait to read the second book in the series.
When Vamps Bite by Nicole Zoltack is a wonderful story to read. This is book number one out of eight in this wonderful start to a brand new series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about vampires.
I received a free copy of this book via Story Origin and am voluntarily leaving a review
I loved this book and I got it for free with an ARC, A Reviewer Copy,
I thought this was thoughtfully written and the storytelling was so good it kept you reading and the character’s interwoven stories was well done and got this reader wanting more.
Nicole Zoltack has done it again. I loved Clarissa’s story. Seeing a terrible murder by vampires and nobody believing her. I couldn’t put it down until I finished it…Awesome read…
This is a great start to this book. The characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline flows smoothly throughout the pages.
I received a copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Looks like a good start to a series. This one is kind of a cliffhanger since very little is really resolved and you will have to read on to see what happens.
Clarissa is a vice cop who wants to make it to homicide. As she is walking home one night from a bar, she hears a noise and finds a man biting a woman’s neck. He kills her and just disappears. When Clarissa calls it in she, of course, has to give a statement as to what happened. No one seems to believe that she saw what she saw. They basically laugh at her vampire wannabe theory. When she gets asked to take some vacation due to an incident that occurs involving her gun getting grabbed, she decides to investigate the vampire angle on her own. I am not going to spoil the story for you. Enjoy. I’m off to find the next book….
A very different take on Vamps. Clarissa has a running dialog with her self. It makes a lot of sense and her questions need answers. There does not seem to be any place she can get answers thought. It makes Clarissa a little nuts that they will not kill her. Fight with her and hurt her but not kill. It drivers her crazy and makes her fear for friends and co workers even people she talks to on the street. It’s a very good story I will be looking for more of these books to see were the author will go with them. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I received this book as an Arc copy. World building was incredibly well done, and character building was exceptional as well. The storyline and plot line were well-thought-out and developed. The story follows Clarissa who works in the vice squad of her local police department. She stumbles upon a murder in process and begins investigating it which leads to more murders, and so begins the adventure, mayhem, horror, and terror. This book grabs ahold of you and will not let go even after you finish it, and it is not your average vampire story so expect to be surprised. It takes you on a roller coaster ride filled with twists and turns, unexpected surprises, and heart pounding terror and thrills. Honestly I did not want this book to come to an end I absolutely loved it. I highly recommend this book if you like fast paced action, mystery and crime solving involving the paranormal you will love this book. It is very well put together and well written. Thankfully there are more books in the series to keep me occupied with more thrills to discover.[book:when-vamps-bite-by-nicole-zoltack.
I enjoyed this book. There is a strong female lead character. She is a cop who discovers the supernatural is real. With all of the violence and death happening around her, she must find someone to believe her and help her find the one who has been causing all the violence in both her professional and personal life.
Vamps aren’t real or are They?
Vamps aren’t real in Bethlehem or are they? A police story with an unexpected twist leads Clarissa Tempest Into the most unusual adventure. People are dying and Clarissa is the only officer realising the perpetrators are vampires.
Can she convince the other officers who they are dealing with or will the vampires take over the city?
A murder mystery with an unexpected bite!
WHEN VAMPS BITE is my second story from author Nicole Zoltack and the first book of the Bedlam in Bethlehem series. This story is fairly fast paced and easy to read, and hard to put down even when the pace slows down. At times the writing feels a little awkward and the lead character seems to either have a God complex or a death wish. It’s hard to imagine a law enforcement officer defying their superior’s orders or their own safety as much as this one does.
Detective Clarissa Tempest witnessed a murder and believes the perp was a vampire wanna be. No one believes her, even after she is attacked in her home and more bodies show up. She’s told she’s off the case, then put on forced vacation, but nothing stops her from looking for these wanna be vamps on her own.
I am looking for the next installment, When Wolves Howl and hoping the writing is a little more realistic.
When Vamps Bite is a fantasy detective novel, with a main character who is just as persistent without her badge as she is with it. It is an interesting concept on the traditional detective novel with an element of the paranormal thrown in. It’s engaging, and is well-written, as we follow Clarissa Tempest as she is trying to prove to her boss that vampires are real, and she ends up with more than she can chew.
If you love paranormal novels, and detective novels, but have not read the genres combined, you might enjoy When Vamps Bite!
4.5/5
An entertraining story of mystery around strang deaths…
Are Vampire real or not?
What is happening and why?
I’m looking forward to read other story in this series
I received a free book and the views and opinions are my own. This is Clarissa’s story. The first part where she finds out vampires are real and no one believes her. A riveting story that kept me reading all night. One of those books that you cannot put down. I would recommend this book.
This was quick, easily paced urban fantasy adventure that has a female cop as the headliner. Right there I’m sold. This a good beginning to what I know promises to be an awesome series. Cops and vampires. What’s not to love!!
When Clarissa, a police officer stumble upon a man drinking blood from a woman’s neck then disappears she thinks maybe she is seeing things. But everything points to vampires. Her coworkers don’t believe her and the vampires taunt her but don’t kill her. Bethlehem is in bedlam and Clarissa is caught in the middle of it. She will be surprised at who actually comes through for her when she tries to take on the vampires by herself. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
A spicy female cop, Clarissa, was after vampires? Not sure. People were coming up sick and dead. What is going on? This exciting story is about the police force working with Clarissa trying to figure out how the murders are going down. What happens remains to be seen. Good book.
Good world set-up. Good character development. Fun and twisty romp through this crazy world. Looking forward to more in the series!
When Vamps Bite (Bedlam in Bethlehem #1), my third read from author Nicole Zoltack and the first book of the Bedlam in Bethlehem series, caught my attention in the opening pages & I never put it down until completed. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. “I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.” (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018)
