Fate doesn’t always happen overnight.Hudson Bradley is the cockiest, most stubborn, hard-headed man I’ve ever known. And for fifteen years, he’s been my brother’s best friend. But lately, what I’m feeling for him isn’t friendship at all.Why is my heart racing every time his blue eyes lock on mine? Why does every word he rumbles in my ear make my body come alive? And worst of all, why did I bet him … alive?
And worst of all, why did I bet him that I could find a woman he and his son would both love?
If I hadn’t given up on love altogether, Hudson would have been perfect for me. After all, he was there the day my world fell apart. He’s spent the last six years piecing me back together.
There are a million reasons why we could never work, but after a single kiss, I can’t remember any of them.
Now that the time is right, I have to make him mine—before I lose him forever.

This wonderous and seamlessly written collaboration is absolutely irresistible with its laugh out loud fun and sexy sweet storytelling. Hudson and Lexi are a treat you won’t want miss! Five stars for M. Mabie and Aly Martinez whose duo effort just keeps getting better!
Hudson is cocky and the type of guy who is there for everyone to rely on, and he is also Alexis’ brother’s best friend. For the past few years, he has been the glue which had held Alexis together. This is a beautifully written tale which is emotional, fun, humorous, and with witty banter, which all leads to a fantastic friends / lover’s magical masterpiece. This collaboration of authors has done a brilliant job in penning this tale, and I cannot wait to read from them. I recommend this for all readers.
Well, no surprise here, but Aly Martinez & Mo Mabie teaming up again is pure gold!! This was perfection. A perfect cast of characters, all of them, but most especially Hudson and Lexi. These 2 have been best friends for years, and their banter had me laughing a majority of the time. Add in Jack, Hudson’s 7 yr old son, and again, perfect. When one night, a few drinks & a few words changes the dynamics, they start to go down a different path. And then the chemistry is off the charts!! I loved them as best friends who constantly slung digs at each other, but always had each other’s back. And I loved them when they became so much more to each other, became pretty much everything to each other. But it isn’t all roses, and you are going to have your heart torn up a bit (there might be someone you no longer like either lol). But in the end, they put you back together with all the love . I just can’t express how much I LOVED this!!!
Aly Martinez and M Mabie are fairly new authors to me but after reading When the Time is Right I will certainly be checking out other works by them. This is an entertaining, emotional, friends to lovers story that touched me on so many levels.
Alex and Hudson have known each other for many years, when Alex was growing up Hudson was always around because he was her brothers best friend and when life got tough he stepped up and supported her when she needed him the most.
Best friends who decide its time to start dating and because they would never cross that line they set each up with some blind dates but these dates were always destined to fail because deep down they only had eyes for each other. Hudson was easy to love, a swoon worthy caring single dad had me hook, line and sinker but it was his friendship and loyalty to Alex that really took this book to another level for me. A sign of a great writing duo is when you have no idea who wrote what, when one author finishes and the other author starts and that’s exactly what you get with very talented duo. I guess all that’s left for me to say is I highly recommend this gem of a read.
When the Time Is Right by Aly Martinez and M. Mabie was a great Friends to lovers story. I really liked it. Hudson and Lex have been friends for years and finally see the sparks between the two of them. I loved their banter, friendship and sizzling chemistry. I thought they were perfect for each other.
Hudson was pretty swoony. Lex was sarcastic and funny.
I also really loved Lex’s relationship with Jack. It was really cute and sweet
I adored this book so much!! I finished it late last night, it was an incredible story about best friends falling in love! I couldn’t put it down!
M. Mabie and Aly Martinez have teamed up and given readers a friends to lovers story that is the perfect combination of funny, sexy, and touching. Their leads, Lex and Hudson, are so in sync with each other, so right together that it is hard to understand how they don’t see it for themselves right away.
This is the type of book that you pick up and start, then a couple of hours later finish and realize that you have been drawn into the story and haven’t looked up once. The banter between Lex and Hudson, Lex and Jack (Hudson’s son) is hilarious as are the dates that Hudson and Lex set up for each other. There is a real feeling to the way these two friends come to the light bulb moment that they are (and always were meant for each other is touching and sweet and completely organic. All the characters, from the leads to the siblings to the parents, are rich and vividly painted. These are the people you want in your life, the friends you wish you were surrounded by.
This is a MUST read, one-click now book that you should not miss.
I swear I may cry if this duo ever quit writing books together. They are perfection and bring the most fun and endearing romances. The characters are lovable, the banter is perfection and nothing is ever rushed. You find yourself rooting for these characters from the very first page. I don’t think there is a better friends to lovers romance out there and you can fight me on that.
I have read a couple of Aly Martinez books and loved them but I had never read M Mabie so I was excited to get into this book and this book exceeded my expectations loved it.
The book was so funny and I loved Lex’s attitude and the way she spoke to people was so funny and I just wanted to be like her with her Witt.
Of course it wasn’t always so easy for Lex and she had been though her fair share of heartbreak but when you have a best friend and a supportive brother who are there for you what more do you need.
Then there’s Hudson who is sweet and a best friend that was always there for everyone, he made a couple of mistakes but one that brought him his son Jack who I loved in this story he was so fun and cute.
The thing I loved about this story was that it wasn’t about one best friend having the feelings for the other one thins was a case of only just realising it and it was so funny to read them trying to work out there feelings, and each other.
This was emotional, but funny and a fantastic well rounded story absolutely loved everything about it
This dynamic duo keeps giving us amazing reads with couples that will steal your heart and this book was definitely one that is holding my heart hostage! I love a great friends-to-lovers romance but this book takes it to a whole other level because damn….Alexis and Hudson, their chemistry left me utterly breathless! This read was emotional, fun, witty, sexy and full of so much love….. love between a man and a family that took him in as their own, love between a father and son, love between bestfriends that becomes so much more. If you love a good book to get lost in, this is that book because it’s not just good it’s INCREDIBLE and one that is without a doubt a top read for me!
When the Time is Right by Aly Martinez and M. Mabie is such a fantastic read. It had me laughing and crying but more than anything it just really made me happy. This best friends to lovers romance is a must read. I loved Hudson and Alexis’ story so much! I can’t give it enough stars. It deserves so much more than 5.
***5 Stars***
This was such a fun read! I loved all the characters and ended up with my cheeks hurting so much from all the grinning I was doing while reading this baby!
I ADORED Lex and Hudson.. Lex is feisty. She’s sweet, sassy, snarky and is extremely comfortable in her own skin. Hudson is a total sweetheart. He’s a hard worker, generous and just an all around good person. Their journey to their HEA was a lot of fun and not filled with all kinds of angsty-ness. This was truly a friends to lovers romance and I was all in with them getting together from the beginning. Their connection ran deep and I thoroughly enjoyed as they both stumbled about as they both realized that they meant more to each other than they realized. There are a couple of bumps they have to deal with along the way, but I loved how they worked through everything and how it all worked out for them.
I know I’ve said this already, but this really was a great read. All of the characters were well written and I truly loved them all, but Jack totally stole the show. This kid was simply awesome! And for those who want to know, this book is loosely tied to When the Walls Come Down. You will see Maggie and Shane and get caught up with them, but you don’t NEED to read it, in order to enjoy Lex and Hud’s story ~ though I do recommend that you because it’s a great read!

I loved Hudson and Lex! This is the second book these two have written together, but get ready, because this one will hit hard! It has a little of everything–single dad, brother’s best friend, and best friends to lovers. Lex is a strong heroine even if she is on the road to becoming a cat lady! Hudson is so sweet and is the ultimate at taking care of those he loves! He will make you swoon! This book grabbed me by the heart strings from the opening scene! 5 stars
4.5+ stars
Hudson and Alexis might as well be related. He is her brother’s long time best friend and both Hud and his young son have been practically adopted by her family. They push and challenge each other and hang out with a shared group of friends. They have been there for each other during terrible times. And they thrive on taunting and torturing the other. They’ve got jokes, banter, and a strong bond.
Hud is a bossy, stubborn man who made good by building a successful construction company and focuses his attention on his son. But he is also loyal, dependable, and very protective of those he cares about and wants to fix things for them when he can. Lex can be sweet and caring, but she is also feisty, independent, and sarcastic. She hates being vulnerable and has buried a lot of pain from her past.
Neither have really been actively searching for love although others like to set them up. But now they are making a bet to fix each other up on three dates and the stakes are something the other really wants. Let the games begin!
But what happens when it becomes apparent that others cannot stack up to the person that has been by your side for years? First, get over the shock and then try to figure what the hell to do about it.
This is a brother’s best friend and friends-to-lovers romance with so much snark, heart, and heat. It brings surprising feelings, excitement, passion, wonder, and challenges. There are more layers to the story and their bond that have to be excavated. Their past relationship histories still have an impact on their lives today. And even when things might start looking up, sometimes roadblocks still get in the way. Timing is everything and they both have a lot to lose. They will have to decide if something more is worth fighting for.
I adored these two together. Hudson is such a swoony and protective hero. Lex is smart-alecky and tough on the outside, but also has a good caring and vulnerable heart. Their banter is sharp and witty, their chemistry(once unleashed) is amazing, and the love they have for their friends and family is unmatched. Their relationship with his son Jack just made my heart melt. Their families and friends are quirky, but take care of each other. Everything about this couple and the people surrounding them had me invested in their story.
It can be read as a total stand-alone although there are some mentions/cameos of characters from their first co-write When The Walls Come Down. This writing pair brought the fun, feels, and angst with this one. and I would definitely read more if they do it again.
When the Time is Right is an amazing tale about real love, sacrifice, and long-lasting bonds. Friendship to lovers, a second chance at love.
Hudson Bradley is my brother’s best friend, he’s a father to a little boy, an owner to a growing construction firm, and he’s been in Alexis’ life forever but lately, their feelings for each other are a little more than just friends. They come up with a great idea, a bet, (cat condo, for grandpa’s Chevelle) to find each other the perfect match. They set each other up with three different dates, all failures, but maybe not! It’s a light-hearted read that brings a smile to your face and a couple of chuckles.
Loving the writing duo of M. Mabie and Aly Martinez!
This dynamic duo of authors, M. Mabie and Aly Martinez, knocked this novel out of the park! Their partnership writing is seamless and outstanding.
The humor, the plot, the characters, the drama, the romance, the steam, the angst… in no particular order but all there working in perfect harmony, making When the Time Is Right a novel you won’t want to miss.
Alexis Lawson lost the love of her life in a tragic accident at a young age and has been working hard to hide her pain from friends and family for years.
Hudson Bradley practically grew up in the Lawson household making him an honorary family member along with his son Jackson.
When friends and family members pair up finding their significant others, Alexis and Hudson are the two buddies that remain. When Alexis drives Hudson home on an unusual night of intoxication, Hudson unknowingly spills the beans on his attraction.
This is when the proverbial lightbulbs turn on and awkwardness sets in. When these best buddies finally figure out what they mean to each other the pages sizzle but there’s some unfinished business that stands between them that must be resolved.
WAfter a highly emotional start, this book becomes lighthearted and very funny…from heartbreaking to hilarious and back again, this story will pull at every heartstring while making you snort laugh!
Hudson and Lex have been friends for years. He’s her brother’s best friend and very much like part of the family. They’ve always been there for each other, and that’s very evident right from the start.
When they make a bet and start setting each other up on blind dates, the hilarity begins! They eventually discover that their perfect match is each other, and I think they’re more surprised than those around them. Cue hot sexy times…”I will always be your friend, but after the last few days, there is nothing even remotely friendly about the things I want to do to you.”
When a ghost from the past threatens their new found relationship and their hopeful future, my heart sank…things had been going so well, I guess too well. Then, with another wrench thrown in their path to happiness, it started to feel like their happily ever was never going to happen. After what seemed like insurmountable odds against them, that HEA was all kinds of perfect. I guess I just had to have faith that they’d find happiness when the time was right.
This book hits so many of the romance tropes I love…not just brother’s best friend, but friends to lovers and single dad. So amazingly witty, so entertaining, just so good!
When the time is right
M. Mabie. Aly Martinez
I could not put this book down!! I stayed up way to late on a work night . I had to know what was going to happen !
These two y’all!! They brought all the feels!! They each write wonderful stories separately and together they are Epic!! I hope they do this again !!
The characters *sigh* Lex and and Hudson. I love them. And Jack. *heart eyes*. I love that epilogue!!
5 star Review When The time Is Right by M Mabie & Aly Martinez
Both M Mabie and Aly Martinez are relatively new authors to me and why that is I have no idea. This is a friends to lovers story that was witty, emotional and a real romance .
I fell hard and fast for Hudson he ticked the boxes for me, add in the fact that he is a single dad to a 7 year old son and I was all in. Hudson and Alexis have know one another since they were teenagers, after all he is her brother Cal’s best friend and he was there for her when she needed him the most.
Hudson and Alexis have always been friends, never crossing the line until all that changes when they decide to set each other up on a blind date and that’s when everything starts to change. The characters were easy to relate to,real and I quickly became invested in their story. I loved how honest they both were with the changes that were occurring in their relationship, it was refreshing to read.
I have no idea where one author finished and the author took over as their writing was seamless. This is a little gem of a book and I cannot wait to read more from these authors.

~ 3.5 When It’s the Right Time Stars ~
When the Time Is Right is an enjoyable and entertaining read, but I have to be honest….it didn’t WOW me.
This is the second book by this writing duo and I thought it was an easy read, but I guess it was missing something for me. It didn’t have that bit your lip, turn the page to see what happens next feeling.
I will say that the characters are what kept me interested in this story. The sass and banter between Hudson and Alexis was hysterical and had me laughing out loud many times. It just was lacking the drama that usually helps a storyline keep moving.
This is the second book that was co-written by Aly Martinez and M. Mabie. I still believe these two have an amazing future writing books together, this one just isn’t my favorite. This book is a standalone novel and is told in Dual POV. I thought the flow of the story worked well, but the pacing was a little slower than I usually prefer.
If you are looking for that fun and entertaining Sunday read or are a fan of friends to lovers romances, then this is a book you should check out. Just because it wasn’t a 5 star for me, doesn’t mean it won’t be for you.
