Fate doesn’t always happen overnight.Hudson Bradley is the cockiest, most stubborn, hard-headed man I’ve ever known. And for fifteen years, he’s been my brother’s best friend. But lately, what I’m feeling for him isn’t friendship at all.Why is my heart racing every time his blue eyes lock on mine? Why does every word he rumbles in my ear make my body come alive? And worst of all, why did I bet him … alive?
And worst of all, why did I bet him that I could find a woman he and his son would both love?
If I hadn’t given up on love altogether, Hudson would have been perfect for me. After all, he was there the day my world fell apart. He’s spent the last six years piecing me back together.
There are a million reasons why we could never work, but after a single kiss, I can’t remember any of them.
Now that the time is right, I have to make him mine—before I lose him forever.

I wasn’t prepared for the prologue. They sure know how to start a book with a punch to the heart.
It took Lex time to heal and become who she wanted to be. Hudson is the best friend and so loyal. They’re witty, fun, competitive, and loving. Jack had me laughing with his kid humor. Lex was a total bad@ss when she stood up for the one whose always been by her side. Such a great story.
This book was like my kryptonite, everything I love in a great book. I mean single Dad, friends to lovers, and brothers’ best friend!! From beginning to the end this story had it all from the drama to the humor and it held me captive. The prologue just about gutted me when something tragic happened in Alexis life and set up the storyline perfectly.
Hudson didn’t have a good childhood, his best friend Cal’s family pretty much adopted him. So, when on a drunken night one of his friends Lauren and him fell into bed and the outcome was Jack. So, Jack and Lauren co-parent with assistant from all the parents.
Cal’s sister Lex was a sassy little thing and attitude a mile long and she loved Jack so much, Hudson was the absolute best Dad to Jack, he had a heart of gold, would do anything for the ones he loved. Hudson and Lex do a lot of activities together as friends along with Jack when Hudson has him. They argue and go at each other with the best banter and once they realized their attraction the chemistry was over the top. All the secondary characters just add to this story especially Jack, loved him! I think you need to pick this amazing book up and find out what happens
I certainly hope this writing duo plans on continuing to write more!
WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT is a contemporary standalone.
Brother’s Best Friend
Single Dad
Strong, witty heroine
A romance 15 years in the making.
An alpha and the woman who he never realized owned his heart.
Angst and tons of emotion
And, of course, hilarious banter.
I have found that I love this writing duo! I haven’t read much by M Mabie before, but Aly Martinez has been one of my favorites for a while. When the Time is Right is the second book that these two have co-written, and I really loved it!
Hudson and Alexis have been friends for many many years since Hudson has been Lex’s brother’s best friend. They have been there for each other through good times, and more importantly, hard times, and they’ve pushed through. It just hasn’t been their time.
I loved these characters! I loved Hudson’s sweetness and his sense of humor (it’s so written well!), as well as his interactions with his son. And Lex’s snarky, sassy, and sarcastic personality were right up my alley!
While I really enjoyed the first collaboration of these two authors, they truly outdid themselves with this one! I can’t wait to see if they continue to co-write!

This book was a beautiful, heartfelt, and emotional brother’s best friend/friends-to-lovers romance with a touch of angst. It has all of the feels and steamy goodness you love in romance books. There are endearing and wonderful characters that have so much depth and charm. I loved the family and friendship aspect of this romance. Hudson was the ultimate swoony book boyfriend and Lex was sassy, funny, and so lovable! Jack was adorable. It was such a joy reading this book. I loved it! The epilogue was beautiful! It made my heart feel so full. I highly recommend reading this book. I can’t wait to see what this dynamic duo writes next!

When the Time Is Right has all the things I look for in my stories. It was well written, entertaining, brother’s best friend, witty banter that had me laughing, smoking chemistry, single dad, cute kid, and some angsty. Hunter and Lex were likeable, fun and caring. They were eachother’s peson. I liked the secondary characters too. I’m really enjoying this writing duos stories, and I’m looking forward to next one from them.
When the Time is Right by M. Mabie and Aly Martinez was such a sweet and charming friends to lovers romance and I loved it. Hudson is the best friend of Alexis’ brother. He has always been there for her when she needed him, but lately her feelings have been changing. But what happens when they agree to set the other up? I loved their witty banter and seeing the changes in their relationship. They were both great characters and I just loved their journey so much. This was such a delightful read and one I highly recommend.

Happy reading!
I absolutely love this writing duo! I fell in love with all the characters! 5 amazing stars for each author on this one!
Alexis and Hudson have been best friends for years, he was their for her through her difficult time, he’s always there for her. She’s also been there for him through his tough life, so isn’t it natural they’d have feelings for each other? Yea you’d think that wouldn’t you!
Follow along as these two best friends try to understand these new feelings they are having toward each other. You will fall in love with them for sure!
These two authors never disappoint when they put a story together, I would love more from them anytime! Grab this one and enjoy!
Pure. Magic. Every time these gals get together.
This book holds the key to exactly what you are looking for in a friends-to-lovers/single-dad/give-me-all-the-angst romance. The best way I can describe it is that it’s full of heart (even if you do feel it crack in your chest a couple times). I laughed, I cried, and fell completely in love with all that is Hudson and Lex. The slow build and all the unrealized tension explode on the pages leaving you with nothing short of a blissful feeling of light and love at the close. I still don’t know how I can go from giggling to snotface so quickly. It hit me right in the sweet spot.
Both of these authors are one clicks for me and a story such as this only reminds me exactly why. Especially when I can’t decide if my tear-stained cheeks are from laughter or heartbreak or just the full feeling I have now.
In this day in time, we all need a little pick me up. When the Time is Right was exactly that. With the perfect title to match.
Friendship that turns into the perfect love. Sometimes love can come in the form of your friend which knocks you for a loop. This couple has such great chemistry and banter. I loved the plot and these two incredible ladies certainly know how to write the perfect love story. I enjoyed that there wasn’t a lot of fluff to this story just the true story itself. Romances can get very drawn out but this one was paced perfectly. I can’t wait to read more from this series.
When the Time is Right is not technically a rom-com but in my opinion, it’s the closest thing to it! The characters themselves combined with the banter between them had me laughing or smiling more times than not. It’s a friends-to-lovers story that tops any other book I’ve read with the same plot. These authors have a trademark way of writing that sucks me in every time. It’s easy to love all of the characters, not just Hudson and Lex. It makes a big impact on me when I can love all of the characters in a story, even if they aren’t “good”. I definitely recommend this book to anyone that’s look for a light-hearted story with lots of feels!
*sigh* ooh what a story!! The humor is above the rest, laugh out loud, hilarious. The sweet tenderness is heart-warming and happy tear inducing. Plus don’t think for a moment that the sexy moments aren’t enough to get your blood pumping! This is a great best friends to lovers story with a little bit of drama thrown in for kicks.
Friends to lovers with playful characters who know each other like I know the back of my hand…very well. So well, that neither realize they’ve had more than friendly feelings for the other for a while now.
Lexi survived the tragic loss of her fiance and Hudson was right there to help her get through it along with their gang of friends. Fast forward 6 years and she’s a pro at using her well thought out snark and snappy comebacks as an armor around her heart, never letting anyone in, afraid to be left behind again. Hudson has always been the protector, the one you can count on, and he takes his job seriously when it comes to Lexi. When he realizes there’s more to his feelings than friendship he’s all in, ready to start his life with his forever girl by his side. Lexi, however, needs a “time out,” not because she isn’t feeling it, but she has a lot of unresolved issues and a few secrets she’s been hiding.
I enjoyed this read. I liked the characters as individuals but it took me a bit to get on board with them as a couple. I think that’s because Lexi’s personality changed a bit once their relationship changed and I think that’s because she was really inside her head with her fears and insecurities. The first third was a little slow for me as it took the characters too long to figure out what everyone else knew, but the last 30% was fantastic, definitely my favorite part of the story, I only wished the pacing would have been a bit better to keep my interest more in the beginning. Nice to catch up a bit with Maggie and Shane as well!
While this book was relatively low on the drama, it did manage to break my heart. I loved the banter between Hudson and Lex. I liked seeing the evolution of their relationship and how the pieces fell into place. I liked the ending and the epilogue, though not necessary, was a nice little bonus.
……. I absolutely fell in love with this story, and feel it’s one of the best collaborations between Ms Mabie and Ms Martinez. First off the setting is one of my favorites, the friends to lovers aspect. The story sets off with a prologue that pulls at your strings.
Hudson and Cal have been best friends forever, and there’s a third member of the group Alexis who’s Cals’s younger sister, and who’s also been bff’s with Hudson herself. Hudson and Lex build a bond between the two of them that’s unbreakable. Over the years they’ve stood by each other’s sides, during the highs and lows of life. But as much as they’ve been each other’s rocks, Lex hasn’t been as honest about things in her past that have devastated her emotionally, and have stopped her from moving on. When her relationship with Hudson takes a dramatic turn, its a catalyst that has her putting on the brakes, fearing the loss of her friend. Hudson is the rock of the group. He’s always there to lift and comfort everyone else, never asking for anything in return. He loves his easy going relationship with Lex, but when unexpected feelings rise to the surface he’s unable to keep them at bay. He’s got a good life with a son he loves dearly, and who loves Lex and her entire family. Grappling on how to handle his new found feelings for his best friend, a dramatic twist in his own life makes every decision going forward life altering. Can these two people who care deeply for each other, navigate the stormy waters ahead. Will someone put Hudson first for a change??The story is an emotional one, but has a lot of humorous banter between the characters, and I found that to be one of my most favorite features of the book. The secondary characters play an integral part in the story, and are layered perfectly through out. This is one of my top reads of 2020!!
Let me just take a step up on my soap box and say M. Mabie and Aly Martinez writing together is FIRE!
I just can’t. get. over. it!
I devoured this story in less than 24 hours. I was not putting it down, I was not passing go, and I definitely wasn’t collecting $200… I was just flipping one page after another, gobbling it all up! The storyline and characters were so captivating. Their chemistry was undeniable and their banter was on par! I felt like I was put through every emotion. Honestly, I laughed, I cried, I yelled, and I smile in triumph! And that’s exactly what I NEED in a story! To top it off, I did not see the plot twist coming but I was there for it all, one page at a time! These last two stories by these two authors have solidified my one-click finger- I will take anything they throw in my face and I just know I will like it.
Ooh I have to say that this is one of the best friends to lovers books I have read in a long time. The banter between the main characters was spot on and continually brought a smile to my face. It was a sweet and sexy story with a tiny bit of angst. I devoured this book and would heartily recommend it!
I LOVED Alexis and Hudson’s story!! So many layers to learn, so much love everywhere! This book-I truly felt as though I was living the story with all of the characters. And Jack…I am such a sucker for kids in books! He stole my heart! His sense of humor…just perfect! LOVED this and can’t wait to see what this amazing writing duo has planned for us next!
OMG! This book is AMAZING! Like seriously SO freaking good. I smiled the whole way through it. It felt so very realistic and I enjoyed every single page. Alexis and Hudson have been the best of friends for years. After her brother and his other best friend, Cal, gets married the two of them make a bet and set each other up on three dates with three different people each. None of the dates work out but they start to realize that there may be something between them. I loved both characters so much. Alexis was a funny and tough independent woman. Hudson was a hard working man, great friend, and an even better father to his son Jack. The two of them together was explosive. They were great as friends and even better as lovers. I honestly can’t put into words how much I enjoyed this couple, their families, and their love story. These authors did a phenomenal job writing this story and I can’t wait to see what they write together next.
