Best book I have read in a long time. I liked it so much I bought the print version to share with friends.
Caren Werlinger is a new author to me. I don’t often read lesbian romances, but I liked the description, title, and cover, and took a chance on the story. I’m glad I did! I loved this book so much, and I think I’ve found a new favorite author.
A unique setting–a small island with a long history. A supportive community. A heroine in need of healing. A beautiful romance. An uplifting story.
I want more books set on this island!!!
One of my favorite authors, and I was not disappointed.
In a world that holds too many secrets and too much judgement, this story was a pleasant relief. And a hopeful reminder that prejudices, false “truths” and misjudgments have a ripple effect on every life it touches. It can be a ‘nice little story’ or can encourage readers to look a little deeper into their own ‘family tales’- false or not.
Good book
Wonderful Storytelling! I wasn’t sure I’d really like this book. It sounded a little dark. But once I arrived vicariously on that magical little island, I was completely transported! And life just has a way of working out when your mind is pointed in the right direction. And it worked out for the characters in this book as well! Not only did I love the island life, but I loved the mystical atmosphere and the quirky characters with their customs and ceremonies, unique to this special place. The irresistible storytelling made this enchanting little escape as sweet and comforting as a cup of hot cocoa.
Beautiful! Touching and heartwarming. I loved it.
I loved the love story, but I thought the ending was a little droopy and left me wanting more info.
First off, I want to move to Little Sister Island. The imagery that Werlinger created was amazing. The main characters were strong and their relationship development was steady. What truely made this book stand out were the secondary characters. They were so important to the story and were almost part of the setting. I really recommend you read this book. It is a warm fuzzy feeling book.
I very lovely lesbian romance novel set in a close-knit community on a small island. All of the (major) characters are engaging and relatable. Part fish-out-of-water story part coming of age story — it’s a very enjoyable read. The only thing that drove me crazy is the author apparently doesn’t know what a scull is (it’s an oar, not a boat.)
Felt great about this book. Recommended highly
Moved me!! To tears and laughter and grief and hope this book seriously moved me!! Highest praise I can give!!!
Caren Werlinger’s latest book is a lot like her previous ones…very good. The characters are unique, intriguing, and multidimensional. The settings are attractive yet dangerous. The plots, main and secondary, always engage the reader from the first to last page. The positive messages that the author conveys throughout the story will be with you long after the book is read. Overall, this is an exceptional story written by a master storyteller.
