Sin isn’t supposed to feel this good.I never wanted to come here. The scholarship to Hawthorne University is my ticket to a better life, but I don’t fit in with these rich, privileged students.I’m the daughter of a drug addict.A girl with a half-remembered past.A foster kid who’s seen too much of the wrong side of humanity. My tattoos are my battle scars, and my heart beats for no one.Until I meet … scars, and my heart beats for no one.
Until I meet them.
Gray, Declan, and Elias.
The Sinners.
They run this school, and one day, they’ll run this whole city.
They snap their fingers, and the world falls at their feet.
They breathe a word, and that word becomes law.
I’ve been numb my whole life, but when they touch me, sparks dance across my skin.
For the first time in years, I feel.
I feel so much.
Confusion.
Desire.
Anger.
Need.
Too bad there’s only one thing the Sinners feel for me.
Hate.
This is the first book in the Sinners of Hawthorne University series, a new adult reverse harem bully romance. It contains violence, dark subject matter, and high steam.more
Bleh. This started off with a FMC I loved and great tension & buildup with the bully romance. And then it went splat. First the way the harem “helped” her after a serious panic attack that also lead to the first group steamy times was just…beyond problematic and didn’t even fit where the characters were in their relationship. And to top it all off it ended on one of my least favorite “oops overheard a phone and it’s all a lie” tropes. I don’t exactly regret reading it, but won’t be continuing the series.
This was another good one from Eva Ashwood. She does a great job setting up the characters and the storyline so perfectly while keeping so much hidden. The ending on this was brutal cliffhanger! I can’t wait to dive in to book 2!
I loved this book, it was full of emotions, and the MC kicked-ass with easy, I got to listen to it on audible, and I made it so much better, you could feel her pain and sassiness, you felt her loss after losing her foster brother, and how she cooped.
She started a new college and you got to see her fight back to bullies and show she wasn’t weak, I enjoyed a girl who could fight back instead of crying in a corner. I loved this book.
“When Sinners Play” by Eva Ashwood is the first book in the Sinners of Hawthorne University series and talk about reverse harem story-line with a bully twist to it. Wow! I was hooked from the very beginning. The story will suck you in, grab a hold of you and not let go. With each turn of a page you will go in an emotional roller-coaster that keeps you at the edge of your seat with great characters. A must read.
I this series from Eva Ashwood . It amazing with so many twists I literally could not put it down . The chemistry such sexual tension between Sophie and the guys it intense and it ends in a huge cliffhanger !!!!
I loved Ms Ashwood’s latest bully romance. Sophie is a foster kid who receives the chance to attend Hawthorne University, an elite private college. The whole book follows her as she goes against the Sinners, led by Gray. Her past is slowing starting to reveal itself to her and I’m loving the hints of what’s to come. I also loved the reference to Clearwater University! Looking forward to the continuation of the series.
Right out of the gate, this story grabbed my attention and held on for the entire read. An intense, emotionally-filled dark romance involving a young underprivileged heroine raised (and abused) through the foster care system. Sophie becomes a freshman at a prestigious university where she encounters and is then bullied by her one-time sexual encounter at a bar, Gray. Gray is wealthy and so-named one of the university’s Sinners along with two others, Declan and Elias. The Sinners are undeniably attracted to Sophie.
I enjoyed this book. I liked the author’s portrayal of heroine’s strength and maturity eliciting an emotional pull that was felt throughout the book. I loved the character development and interaction. Each of the heroes, Gray serving a primary role, displayed their unique personalities that seem to complement the heroine. Gray was so broody, alpha and attractive; Declan and Elias, emphatic, silent understanding; all of them thawing Sophie’s numbness. They seem to give each other what the other needed.
Wild steam in the story. Such chemistry, such sexual tension. This story was hot! I liked the balance in this reverse harem with each hero having a personal relationship with the heroine rather than group sexual encounters with little story or feeling.
With the dark subject matter and the dramatic emotions, this book read more adult, more mature than a typical bully romance. In addition, with their now closer relationship, the ending left me wondering what next and who. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Excellent read. (
Eva has done it again with another amazing book. I have not read one book of hers that didn’t grab me from the start hold on to me until the end. This book has it all, suspense drama hot guys and crazy times. You will love it and i can’t wait to see what happens next in this series.
What can I say about an Eva Ashwood read, except be prepared to read until you have finished the book. So be sure to set aside a time when you will not be interrupted and can read the whole thing in one setting. You will not want to stop once you have finished.
Sophie is a character that i was rooting for from the beginning. I love these female leads that have gone through some stuff and come out stronger, that is Sophie. She has not had a easy life but is strong. So when she gets a scholarship to an elusive university, she expects everything to be low key and chill. What she does not expect, and neither did I, was Three boys Grey, Elias and Declan to hate her. What could possibly be their reasons for hating her on the spot?
So as usual with an Eva book we have the darker reads that are intense and so freaking good. I loved it and cannot wait for more!!
I loved this book from start to finish. Sophie is an awesome FMC and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Eva Ashwood never disappoints me. I have followed her since her first book and she just keeps getting better and better. This book is a fast burn so be prepared to be set on fire immediately. You will meet Sophie who is a tough girl who has been through the foster system. Meaning she is a tough chick and will give it to you right back. Wow, let me say she is quick to retort. As I was reading this book, I realized that I could not sit still. I was constantly moving, then realized I read the book straight through. You will know what I am talking about once you start reading this book. This book is intense and keeps you hanging on every word til the end. That ending though, brutal, has to be one of the most epics that I have read. I cannot wait for book two.
This was a fast paced college bully reverse harem romance and let me tell you, it gets HOT!!! I loved this book! From the beginning it gets you hooked and takes you on a journey full of twists and turns. Sophie is a strong character who doesn’t take any crap! This books has angst, mystery & drama The perfect combination!
I would also like a Gray, Declan and Elias for myself!
Such an amazing story! I was addicted from the beginning and couldn’t stop reading. Sophie has had a really rough life. Things have never been easy for her and when she earns that a scholarship to Hawthorn University that’s not going to change. This book is hot! There is some serious steam. The ending about killed me and I hope things aren’t as they seem. I’m a little heartbroken for Sophie. I’m not sure how to feel about Gray yet. I do love Elias and Declan. I’m excited to see where things go.
*Spoiler Alert*
When Sophie (FMC) gets a full scholarship to Hawthorne University after she leaves foster care she becomes the target of bullying rich kids. Especially The Sinners – Gray, Declan & Elias who seem to be the orchestrators of everything thats happening to her. Only she doesnt play by their game and makes her own rules. Loved how strong-willed and smart Sophie was. Not bowing down to any of them even after everything they do to her. Plenty of steamy scenarios some that steamed up my kindle. So hot! A fantastic start to this series and i loved it. Cant wait for the next book
Sophie had been out of control that night, she’d just identified Jared’s body, gone to a bar and had sex in a toilet with a guy called Gray, had luckily got a scholarship to Hawthorne university and believe it or not there was Gray, only this Gray and his friends Declan and Elias seemed to own this place they were called the sinners, and for some reason they had Sophia in their sights ready to take her down.
OMG, rollercoaster from hell alert, this is a dark bully romance that doesn’t creep up on you, this grabs and shakes you to the core, I cant wait for more as Sophie seems to have a lot in her past she doesn’t know about. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
As she tried to numb the pain there he was. A stranger who reflected her own despair.
A lifeline, a new start, a chance to be something. It should of been fantastic, and it had that promise until the words “Scholarship” left her mouth.
One word changed everything with them, and then it all began..
But know one thing she wont go down without a fight!
Oh my god wowsers! what a phenomenal read!
I was forever waiting with bated breath for the next act of devastation, heartbreak, humiliation.
It’s only now it’s over that my heartbeat is returning to normal.
The boys are intimidating, ferocious and unrelenting. Just the way I like my alphaholes!
Sophie is a survivor. She’s sexy, extremely sassy and doesnt cower in the face of adversity. A true beauty.
I loved watching the lines blur between what they should feel, and what they actually did.
This book is a very seductive and stimulating read. The passion, drama, angst and lust combine to make this the beginning of an unforgettable series!
Eva Ashwood is on fire and I for one cant wait for more more more!!
I loved this book, a five star read, for sure! I love that the FMC is bad ass, yet vulnerable too. The backstory of the FMC, as well as Gray, are heart wrenching and raw. The “bully” aspect of the book last throughout, yet there are plenty of sexy times to be had. It does end in a cliff hanger, which has me anxiously awaiting the release of the next book! I would definitely highly recommend this book!
Dark from the offset and there are parts that will be triggering for some.
Sophie is a strong FMC and isn’t ruled by her emotions which I loved.
The guys don’t push the bullying too far and give a somewhat reasonable explanation for it
It does end on a cliffhanger
