To get amnesty on a remote farm planet, ex-con Tassar has to marry an alien – specifically, a strange looking creature called a ‘human’. When he sees gorgeous, delicate Leilani, though, all of his plans change. He wants more than just a marriage of convenience. He wants her forever, but only when she’s ready.
Cute and cuddly for a PRN novella.
As much as I don’t care for novellas, there are a few authors who know how to write them. If I’m going to spend good money for something that is less than two hundred pages, it should be very satisfying. And, boy, does Dixon deliver!
When She’s Ready links Pretty Human and Prison Planet Barbarian to create the Risda Universe (Risdaverse for short)… which is side kick of Ice Planet Barbarians and Icehome Planet! And somewheres in that mess is the Corsairs series and… Gah! I’m sure a reader could become easily confused on which to read, so I’ll make it easy. If you need a little brain candy from a universe you’re already familiar with, stick with the Risdaverse, and you won’t be disappointed.
Leilani needs a huge, strappin’ alien as an official husband to keep the bad guys from trying to steal her farm and sell her to the nearest slaver for even more cash. Enter Tasser, an acquaintance of Jutari (Prison Planet Barbarian), who is a successful escapee from Haven (same planet prison Jutari and Chloe had been incarcerated) in terrible need of a place to hide… like forever. By marrying Leilani, he can have his prisoner of war status pardoned by Lord va’Rin (Pretty Human). Sounds like a good deal, huh? Weeelll… Leilani’s neighbors aren’t pleased with the alleged arrangement, arguing that it’s a fake marriage. Which is really is to a certain extent as Leilani refuses to participate in sex… until when she’s ready. (Hence the title.)
I found this story to be just what the doctor ordered right in the middle of a lot of stress and several highly and intensely suspenseful titles I had just finished reading. Oh! And this is probably the third time I’ve read this book because it is a wonderfully well-written bit of brain candy to stabilize the ol’ brain before I attack any more complicated titles. And great news! Dixon’s written more in this series that are jewels, too, some of great novel-lengths. So this is a great investment! Purchase the entire set because they will make you happy when you need it the most!

Love When She’s Ready, it’s quick short but characters are famously funny a little bit , love how Tassar finds Leilani’s quirky habits of talking to herself sweet and adorable, nicely done.
*WARNING* contains adult situations
This was a short one. It was a sweet little story. Us poor humans get taken and need a big strong alien for protection. It helps when the ruler of the planet has a soft spot for humans.
This is a delightful little fairly insta-love sci-fi romance tale. Tassar is great, although I was a bit disappointed in how he under perceived the threats to them and their homestead. Leilani does a great job of saving him when the times comes, even though he was supposed to be saving her. And I loved how the whole When She’s Ready bit came about!
