I love the duo known as Erin Watt. I’ve decided they can do no wrong (although Fallen Heir came close to ruining me…dat cliffhanger). I was hesitant to start When It’s Real. Here’s why:
-YA
-pop star/musician
-pretend relationship
-weird names
-full price book
These all tend to be bad signs for me. But I ignored them and moved forward.
I am so happy I did.
Vaughn and Oakley’s relationship felt so normal…so real (you see what I did there?). I enjoyed seeing them grow both individually and toward each other. You watch them develop a slow friendship that evolves into more. It felt like a natural progression. I guess I’m having a hard time explaining what drew me in. Just give it a chance and try it yourself.
I really enjoyed Erin’s Twisted Palace series, so I was curious to see what another book from her would be like. “When It’s Real” was much more your standard type romance novel. Not all the twists and turns of Twisted Palace. I enjoyed it, but I liked Twisted Palace better.
I would definitely recommend this book though.
What a cute listen! Loved it!
WOAH! I was BLOWN away with this book.NOT what I was expecting.I always love when the main character go from enemies to lovers!!
Loved it!!! A must read!!!!
It is the best book. If you like books with funny vibes and strong young women that fight for themselves and not fall for the bad boys and the bad boys end up falling for them instead, this is the book that ur looking for then, and even though ur not interested in this type of book genres u should still try it out, it’s really good and gets u fired up, trust me.
When It’s Real is my very first story from this author. I listened to the audiobook version of the story which was fantastic. I absolutely enjoyed Oakley the Rockstar, Vaughn his fake girlfriend, her sister Paisley and their twin brothers Spencer and Shane. This was a story is great for all Rockstar romance lovers. It’s a story full of angst, that also has it’s sweet, hurtful, deceitful, revenge and drama filled moments but the slow building romance between Oakley and Vaughn is one that I loved. I look forward to more books from this author in the future.
Well well well Erin Watt have done it again what a bloody fantastic book, I did not want to put it down and it just took me back to why I do love a good YA novel, I haven’t read one in a while and this for me was perfection.
I know we look back at the Royal series and that was beyond awesome one of my fav series, but what I loved about this book was it was soooo soooo different but the same amazing writing and I do love that in an author/s that they can still captivate me in different genre
I loved the whole story line, I love the stardom of Oakley and the normal girl in Vaughn and I don’t think there is ever a time that no girl ever fantasied about being with a singer or famous person geesus I think I had about 15 boyfriends by the time I was 16 with all my celeb crushes and I think this book pulls out the perfect fantasy.
I also loved the setup of this book with the tweets and how it made the book fun to read, that was one of my favorite parts of the book. I am a big music fan so just having songs and lyrics incorporated always makes it a winner for me.
Vaughn was just a normal girl trying to help her sister and 2 brothers out making ends meet. I loved her innocence and her sassy mouth. She was a fantastic character and I really liked her.
Oakley was written perfectly for me, he was cocky but never apologized for it and was just living life to fullest until his career was going down the tube, but throughout the novel I loved the changes and really thought he was a great character.
I loved how innocent and not too sexual this book was, it was a breath of fresh air, where I could laugh, had a cry and one stage and I just felt the whole time I was cheering for the couple who had a fantastic chemistry throughout the book.
Thank you so much Jen Frederick and Elle Kennedy for an amazing book.
5 Big big big Stars
Friggin adorable. I loved every second of this book. I have no doubt stuff like this happens in showbiz. Oakley is a bit of a hot mess, and can’t behave, and what do people eat up? Famous people acting out. Well he gives them plenty to follow. Vaughn is a little uptight about changing anything in her life, and she is not all together on board with this hot mess express. There is definitely tension between the two. I loved this book, the pacing and story line where amazing, the secondary characters really helped make this book what it is. Amazing. Told in dual pov.
I really enjoyed this story. I thought it was a cute romance and it isn’t meant to be a deep read. Other reviewers who didn’t understand certain reasons why characters made certain decisions must not have read the whole book or didn’t read it carefully enough.
I felt the characters had substance and the family dynamics were realistic both on Vaughn’s and Oak’s sides. All families can face hardships, misunderstandings, disagreements just as commonly as they can have moments of closeness. These types of interactions were written very well and gave a whole new dimension to the MC’s.
Although I’m well past my young adult years, I am not ashamed to admit that this story touched my heart and would recommend it to anyone who likes a light-easy read, no matter their age.
This book was just okay. It was too cheesy and way too predictable. I think I went it expecting the same feel as Paper Princess. I really didn’t care for any of the characters. It took a bit for me to stay focused. It was a plot that I’ve read before but nothing about it to make it memorable or different. I love Erin Watt but nothing about this book stood out to me.
Predictable, but a fun read.
I really enjoyed When It’s Real. It was a light-hearted quick read that I didn’t want to put down. I loved both main characters and their sarcasm.
