Nate:
It’s nearly impossible to be surrounded by love but not understand it. My parents, my sister, and just about everyone around us has no trouble accepting that love. To give your trust to someone else and believe they would die before hurting you. I’ve witnessed it—I’ve seen the power of it—but I’ve also seen the pain. Because for me, I’ve only loved someone I could never have, and my biggest … biggest fear is that by giving her my love, all I would do is ruin her. I should have tried harder, but I’m not sure I can because I only feel complete when I’m with her.
Emberlyn:
The only time I feel like I belong is when he’s near. His infectious smile warms me straight to my bones. Any insecurities I have vanish with just a wink from him. A sliver of his attention makes me feel invincible. But all it took was one drunken night of truths for me to lose everything I had begun to crave. Now, I’m not sure how to move on because I only feel complete when I’m with him.
He said I was too young. I said he was perfect. He said our families wouldn’t understand. I said we could weather any storm. He said he would ruin me. And he was right.
When I’m with You can be read as a standalone. Each book is interconnected, so if you would like to get to know the previous couples that show up in this book, I recommending reading book 1 (Unexpected Fate) and book 2 (Bleeding Love) first.

Ember has always been in love with Nate, she took the chance and told him, and it didn’t work, then she thought finally he had decided that they could work only to end up shattered, so she decides she has to try to move on.
Nate can’t deny how he feels about Ember, but she’s young and no would be happy about it, they are both at different places in their lives. He’s also seen the pain that love can bring but he truly believes that he will ruin Ember and he’s not good enough for her.
A few years later everyone still thinks that Nate is just Nate, until he clearly explains his plans for his club, and they realise that Nate has grown up. The one thing he knows that’s different is how Ember has been avoiding him and how he realises he feels about her.
Ember doesn’t know whether what Nate is saying now can be trusted he’s broken her heart before, a few years and what’s made him change his mind but talking to her mum, her mum says to let him show her that it was the same with her and her father, will Ember give Nate that chance.
Loved it and don’t care that I’m stayed up way too late to finish it. It was as awesome as the previous books. Nate and Ember are just as amazing as their parents. I loved how much Axel and Maddox are in this book, and they help Nate. Loved that Nate had a little Dom in him. There’s a nasty ex to take care of. Plus there are four epilogues. Can’t wait to see who will fall next.
I just love this series, just like I loved the CS series. I think it’s great to get to read about the Corps Security crew’s offspring and I really like catching up with all the old characters.
This time its Nate (Izzy and Axels son) and Ember’s (Maddox and Emmy’s daughter) turn.
I loved Nate in the previous book and couldn’t wait for his story….it didn’t disappoint 😉
Ember has been in love with Nate for some time. It began when he started tutoring her when she was 17 and when she turned 18, she decided to profess her love to him, because she was sure he felt the same way about her. She was shocked when he told her she was too young and he just didn’t feel the same way about her and her heart broke. About a year later, however, he takes things a step further and crushes the broken pieces of her heart…
Nate has loved Ember for a long time. When she told him she loved him, it broke his heart to tell her, that he didn’t return her feelings. But being 6 years older than her 18, he figured she still had some growing up to do. He also wasn’t so sure their families would accept the two of them together.
Now three years have passed and he just doesn’t understand the hostility Ember has towards him. He wants their relationship back the way it was…he misses Ember.
This is were Maddox came in and I just have to say that I had so much respect for him in this book. He was an awesome father !!
Nate gets with the program and tries to figure out how to make up for past mistakes. When Ember steps into his nightclub on her 21 st birthday, he takes it a step further and decides that she is gonna be his…..forever.
The problem with that, however, is Ember. He really hurt her and she just can’t accept his change of heart all of a sudden. How does she know this is for real, how can she stop her heart from being broken again. She’s never stopped loving Nate, but she just can’t seem to get her heart and her head on the same page. Nate will have to up his game!
I really enjoyed this one and I love the ott Alphas in this series and in the CS series. They just work for me. Nate was an awesome alpha man dirty talker, giving his daddy a run for his money. Ember was a sweet heroine and even though Nate has hurt her, it didn’t turn her bitter or mean.
There is also a little suspenseful side story going on, that I liked.
4,5 stars from me and I can’t wait for the next book. I hope there will be many to follow and I will read them all !!
This is Nate (Axel and Izzy’s son) and Ember’s (Maddox and Emmy’s daughter) story. They have known each other their entire lives. When Ember first professes her love Nate pushes her away because she is so young and they have a 6 year age difference. A while later Nate makes one big mistake and hurts Ember without knowing it. When he finally figures out why she has pulled so far away he realizes he can’t let her go and sets out to win her love back. Ember doesn’t want to be hurt again and she pushes to keep Nate away. She has a boyfriend in the beginning who she had already been planning to break up with, because she really feels nothing for him. They had only been together a couple of months. Some drama ensues on their way to happily ever after. This book had four great epilogues and I think you should read Corps Security: The Series to have some background, but it isn’t necessary.
I really loved Nate, “right, so you’re making dinner?” he questions, moving his hand to adjust himself. I watch his long fingers work the raised denim with a groan deep in his throat. “Let’s go inside, Em, and please let me go first. I’m not sure I can handle seeing those shorts going up the stairs.” Nate’s compliments are unique, “no, definitely not dinner,” he rumbles and presses his erection against my back. “I love food, but food doesn’t make me hard.” I loved this book, Nate was a great guy he and Ember were perfect for each other.
Really, five stars are just not enough!!!!
You know, one of the worst book hangovers I ever had was from a Harper Sloan book!!! Beck, to be exact. But I have loved each and every book this woman writes and she just continues to blow me away with each new story. Greg Cage has been my ultimate book boyfriend since I read his book 2 1/2 years ago and Uncaged has been my favorite book (of Harper’s) since I read it, but I really think When I’m With You might just come within striking distance!!!
Since I really don’t want to give anything away I’ll leave you with this: It is entirely possible that Nate Reid may take the place of Greg Cage in my heart!!!! I freaking loved the relationship between he and Ember. The love, oh my, would that we all could be loved like that!!!!!
With Drunk On You about to release, I decided to reread When I’m With You. I can’t believe I didn’t write a review of this before now. Nate and Ember’s story is positively magical. Of course you throw Axel’s son and Maddox’s daughter together, you know sparks will fly. Even little Molly makes an appearance or two. Love the relationship she has with Nate. And out of the Hope Town books, I have to say Nate and Ember have got to be my favorite couple. These two together are swoon worthy. And I got a huge kick out of all the epilogues. My favorite book from this series so far. I can not wait to see what is next in this series.
