Knox Bauer’s life has unraveled to the point of no return. Fighting to fill the emptiness inside himself, he seeks solace in unfamiliar beds with unfamiliar women. She doesn’t have time for a bad boy who only wants to take her to bed, even if her body disagrees. Review of the audiobook
I absolutely loved this book and was surprised it was rated so low! If you’re on the fence about whether to read the audiobook or listen to the e-book, you may want to go with the audiobook, though. The narrator, Josh Goodman, is absolutely phenomenal, but HE reads 100% of the book, speaking for males and females. Because he has a very masculine voice and he doesn’t even slightly attempt to alter his voice when speaking for female characters, at times it was confusing, trying to figure out which character I was listening to. Other than that, I have no complaints! It’s sexy, believable and I can’t wait to find out what happens next!!!!
There is a cliffhanger in this book. Even though I finished the book going “NOOOO I need more!” That does not mean I didn’t enjoy this book. I feel as though there are good cliffhangers and bad cliffhangers. Good ones end the story at a point leaves you wanting more of the story but isn’t devastating. And the bad ones leave you with a bottle of Jack and big ol Fuck you as they walk out the door. You know the ones I’m talking about. This one was a good one.
Knox Bauer is described as “Tall, Dark and Devastatingly Handsome”. For me he was the good guy who is having trouble coping with all the crap his life has thrown at him. Sometimes you just can’t blame him for how he is. I loved that he didn’t consider himself a sex addict just an opportunist. To me that was hilarious. He was just trying to do right by his brothers and to be there for him. But in return he had no one there for him in lonely dark hours after everyone was his bed. He worked his ass off to provide for them and in return had no one there for him. I kinda understood why he did what he did even if I didn’t agree with it. When he meet McKenna I think he realizes that he wants more than what he has had lately. He sees the good in her and is drawn to it. When McKenna realizes that Knox will open up and accept help from her and not in their group she uses that opportunity to help him. What she finds out about him makes her see that she also needs to change how she has coped with her past.
This book is fantastic. I can not wait for the follow up book from Kendall. She always writes books that make me care about the characters and leaves me wanting more. When you’re through with this one check out her other books. Especially “Hard to Love” that is one of my personal favorites.
“My name is Knox Bauer. I’m a virgo and I like long walks on the beach.” ~Knox
“Your sad blue eyes wouldn’t leave my brain. I couldn’t stop comparing your subtle feminine sent to her harsh perfume. Your touchable soft waves to her too-stiff curls. I don’t know what you have done to me. You have gotten inside my head, fucked with who I am.” ~Knox
“You have no idea how badly I want you. You’re beautiful, smart, talented, kind, and good to your very core. Touching me will only taint you, as bad as I might want it.” ~Knox
Kendall NEVER disappoints. I have read al of her books. She is very talented and i love the story lines that she puts in her books.
