IS IT POSSIBLE THAT GOOD THINGS CAN COME OUT OF OUR BROKEN DREAMS? Worship leader and recording artist Laura Story’s life took an unexpected turn when her husband, Martin, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Their lives would never be the same. Yes, with God all things are possible. But the devastating news was that no cure existed to restore Martin’s short-term memory, eyesight, and other … and other complications. The fairy-tale life Laura had dreamed of was no longer possible. And yet in struggling with God about how to live with broken dreams, Laura has found joy and a deeper intimacy with Jesus.
Laura helps us understand we aren’t the only ones whose lives have taken unexpected turns. She examines the brokenness of some of the heroes of our faith, and shows how despite their flaws and flawed stories, God was able to use them in extraordinary ways. And it was not because of their faith, but because of the faithfulness of their God. God may not fix everything. In fact, although your situation might not ever change or get better, with Jesus you can.
“Our family has been ministered to by her vulnerability and willingness to walk in the valley and still say ‘God, I Trust You.’”

Hard to put it down. Very easy to read. Great spiritual lessons.
Highly recommend this book! I loved authors song ” Blessings ” now that I read her story it truly was a blessing!
I think that anyone who has had prayers not answered could relate to this book. When I was very young I started to pray for my Brother Eric who was born with such severe Cerebral Palsy that he was unable to do anything for himself. I prayed all of the time for him to be healed—but God did not heal him. Instead he went on to have a whole life of sickness & hurting. I questioned that—but also saw God answer prayers in ways I had not thought of. My Brother taught me so much about empathy for others. His life was so important & he was such a great teacher. I must admit that it was a crushing blow when God took him home. But when He did, I felt he would finally be able to run & play. That helped me.
The same questions about praying arose. Maybe I didn’t pray correctly or have the right words. Maybe I didn’t have enough faith etc. I know now that sometimes Faith is about accepting what is & learning to see what God is doing through it all. Especially when He doesn’t answer your prayer in the way you expect.
Changed my life. I was hopeless as I continued to ask why. By changing the question to How God can be glorified in our zitustion, it has truly changed my hopekezz to hopeful. Not hopeful that the circumstances will change, but hopeful in His plans for our story.
Laura’s story was open, honest and inspirational. To God be the Glory for the faith of these two people who seem called to walk where Job had walked.
This book is about most experiences that people live on a daily basis and she shows that those in high profile positions are just as vulnerable as the average person. I highly recommend this book.
