When Gargoyles Soar : (Book # 4, Shades and Shadows Series) : Author Ashley C. Harris.
Read : 21/01/20.
Great Story, Great Characters & Each Book’s Story Improves, But Way Too Many Errors Still!
Definitely the best book out of the four so far, but still with so many prolific errors of all kinds in regards to the editing, or non editing, it’s such a shame as it drags what should be a 4-5 book/ series down to a 3-4book/ series.
If only Ms Harris would update these chronic mistakes as this series was first released back in September 2017.
Amazing story with amazing characters, great word building and detailed described scenes dragging you deeper and deeper into the storylines.
Also these covers ABSOLUTELEY ROCK!
Kudos to both author & artist.
This story has actually changed my mind on who I want Rose (the currently Gargoyle Queen) to end up falling in love with, but will my thoughts & hope’s change again with book 5 when Sean returns as they did with book 4 and his absence?
This book has made me root for Rose and a certain other character Adamus, more than ever before.
We are continuing to learn more of the past history of each character & their species as a whole.
Both the Vampires and Gargoyles. Especially the males in the species, who see to be testosterone filled meat heads who are violent, vile & evil & have created some absolutely disgusting acts including genocide!
I’m not quite sure what’s going on with me, but between When Gargoyles Drown’s and When Gargoyles Soar’s
I have somehow lost my love and trust in Rose’s betrothed Sean Noble, and no longer wait In anticipation for Rose & Sean to be United.
I’m actually preferring the Rose / Adamus relationship.
Whether that is because Sean has been absent pretty much completely in book 3 and part of book 4, I’m not sure or whether its I’m starting to like a Adamus character who is more caring & sweet more so than Sean? And he seems to want to protect Rose at all costs.
Plus the past 2 books have really been pushing a Rose & Adamus alliance /crush with feelings that have been there from such an early age in the 1500’s, not just a year or so.
This has me thinking there is much more feelings, excitement and passion between Rose & Adamus, than we originally thought. Will it pale in comparison to Rose & Sean or Soar to the heady heights of love & hierarchy of Royalty of both species & a change of the laws when concerning the offspring of a dual species called Spawn?
Although there didn’t seem to be as many errors in this book as the past 3, it only took me one day to read and record down all spelling, grammar, punctuation mistakes & wrong storyline arc’s : i.e.
Say where in chapter 1 Harry has gold eyes, whereas now in chapter 2 they are green. (This did not occur, just an example, nor a character).
Although the last book only has 13 chapters it took me 2 days to read & record all the errors as they were so many obscenely present.
It’s almost is if the series and book have gone without the going through an editor before being released.
One of the other major problems throughout Ashley’s stories are there are lots of paragraph or sentences the just sound grammatically incorrect or just don’t make sense, it’s almost as if they’re written back to front.
If Ashley would only go through her books and re-read & edit them as her ARC Team did send in all of the errors we found whilst reading the books when they were originally release to her ARC Team before the release to the general public, in order to write honest reviews on their thoughts of each book, which usually helps the public decide if they will spend their hard earned money on a book or series.
I am always 100% honest in my reviews, and as much as I love this series,
in the shape it’s currently in I refused to buy it . I did get to read books 1 & 2 as an ARC Reader and reviewed them, I also receive the prequel for free as an ARC too, but did not review it as per my agreement with the Author to read & review the prequel last.
But in their current condition with so many unedited errors, I refuse to pay for the rest of the books in the series and only decided to pick them up again 3 years later, during my free 30 day Kindle Unlimited trial.
I enjoyed this book, they’re improving
I RATE WHEN GARGOYLES SOAR
3.5 OUT OF 5
I borrowed a copy of this book from Kindle Unlimited and this is my fair, honest and impartial review as always.
