Buttoned-up Corporal Kaitlyn Amador is dangerous on every level. As a human, she poses a threat to Marine Captain Jax Raymond’s special Force Recon unit. Though the team has a reputation among the other recon units, only their commanding officer knows their secret. As a woman, the danger posed is entirely different. Jax can survive the temptation for only so long before his wolf takes over and … pursues what it wants.
Military intelligence specialist Corporal Kaitlyn Amador is the first woman in the Marines to be assigned to a recon team. And everyone’s watching her. Her mission? Not only prove herself worthy of her place in the group, but uncover the mystery of why Bravo Team is so successful. A mission that gets more difficult every time she’s near Jax…

If the title doesn’t grab you, the cover pic will! When Danger Bites is the start of a new series – I hope! – and this one is about Bravo Team Wolf. Oorah, these “boys” are hawt! This first story is about Corporal Kaitlyn Amador, a Marine to the “corps” and Captain Jax Raymond, a wolf shifter and leader for Bravo Team. Kat, as she is called, is a human who does not know that shifters exist. All of Bravo Team member are shifters. Yup, chaos ensues!
Simplified overview: The Team is an elite special Force Recon unit; they do the dirtiest and hardest jobs the military has. Their shifting abilities are known to very few. Enter Kat. She is sent from her Intelligence boss to infiltrate the unit and to find out why they are so successful. Jax, meanwhile, is tasked by HIS boss to make sure Kaitlyn “flunks” out of joining the Team. There are only a couple of teeny problems: 1. Kat is more than capable (and amazing) in her abilities to make the team, short of having super-shifter strength, agility, etc. 2. And major, no pun intended, sparks fly when Jax and Kat are together.
There is a ton of “stuff” going on in this story, where paths twist and turn and have much action. Great read, intense in the story and the (hawt and smexy) relationship between Kat and Jax…AND it gives us the background for what I hope will be more stories about everyone on the Team. I’m hooked! Loved the story and can’t wait for the next one. {That’s a hint, Ms. Long!] I received an advance copy from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.
This is an interesting take on how werewolves interact with the modern world. I imagine that it must amazingly difficult to keep the existence of werewolves secret from everyone, particularly agencies that thrive on ferreting out secrets. I wonder what Captain Jax Raymond would do with Corporal Aiden Kaas and his small pack (from Jonathan Brazee’s books).
As many of you know I am a big fan of Shifter and Military romance. So when the two were combined I started drooling even before I read the book. It takes talent to merge these two with a purpose none can argue. Heather does this brilliantly.
Now the Military has rules, but so do the Wolves. In this tale we have wolves representing different packs to satisfy the pact made with the government. The only problem is wolves don’t fail, they succeed where others fail and injuries are quickly healed. Bravo Team is a recon unit and they excel at what they do, thus leading to suspicion as to why they have an impeccable track record.
Corporal Kaitlin Amador has worked hard for her chance at recon, unfortunately her boss in military intelligence has made this a mission to find out their secret.
Jax isn’t happy about having a human join his team, worse it’s a woman. A woman he finds himself attracted to on many levels.
Lots of quick wit, snark and sexual tension all with the intense training for Bravo Team.
Kat is one of my favorite Heather heroines, she is snarky, brave and above all loyal.
I almost felt sorry for Jax, he is in soooo much trouble with her.
A page turner with plenty of laughter, heat and action. I can’t wait to read the next in the series.
Definitely liked the writer style
Kick ass heroine!!
OMG! When Danger Bites has so many of my favorite story elements. It is well written with a well developed story arcs and characters, and it’s not riddled with typos. (though there were a couple) Sexy AF alpha, military with action and a touch of suspense thrown in. Kat, is strong, sexy, feisty and doesn’t take any sh¡t. The shifter aspect is well written and not overly clichéd. The chemistry between Jax and Kat is off the charts from minute one. I love the other members of Bravo Team WOLF and hope there are books for all of them. I could not get enough of this book and as long as it was, I didn’t want to stop reading. This is absolutely, without a doubt, a winner in my book.
I really enjoyed this book. He let her be who she is. She gave him lip. The perfect “team”.
When Danger Bites is a thrilling read that bites back! The story starts off with some intrigue that catches readers’ interest and holds them hostage until the very end. The story is fast paced and while there isn’t a whole bunch of shoot ‘em ups or knock down drag out action, the story seems to be full of adrenaline pumping excitement and there is not a dull moment to be found. The story also has a bit of realistic feel because it takes an all too human issue that our women face today – the one about women in combat – and of course the way the wolves ended up in the Bravo Team WOLF unit sounds like something that would definitely happen in real life. And just so you know the intrigue keeps the suspense building throughout the story not only to do with unit but it affects the romantic side of things as well.
Speaking of which, Jax and Kaitlyn are two strong characters that have a chemistry full of electricity and has sparks flying from the pages from the very first meeting. They easily draw readers in and build a connection which has readers dying to know if this couple’s happily ever after will work out. There is quite a bit of emotional turmoil as well as some smokin’ hot passion throughout the story to add depth and a spice to the story.
Heather Long did a great job of creating her military world and made it very lifelike which made it easy for me to picture each and every scene as it played out and her fascinating characters are full of a vibrancy that ensures I get to know the whole Bravo Team WOLF unit, so I can’t wait to read the next book which is due to be released soon.
Totally immersing myself in this great world! Shifters are known to only a select few and they bargained for their autonomy and right to secrecy by setting up a specialist unit within the American military.
Bianca is a tirelessly optimistic aid worker. She goes from one disaster to another, never really taking a break. But when her boss puts her on a mandatory vacation she gets abducted along with a diplomats young son…well she couldn’t let the boy face the horror on his own, could she?
She keeps them alive long enough for them to be rescued but during the escape she is essentially saved by a wolf but gets a bits on the process. Cage can’t believe he but Bianca. It was accidental but he should have better control than that! The team then engineers an elaborate plan to keep tabs on Bianca, after all she could turn and they can’t let her face that alone.
Cage may be telling himself he is detached and just looking after a former charge, but these two have sparks like you wouldn’t believe. I loves the sneakiness of Cage but also his sweet side. Bianca could have come across as twee and precious and a know-it-all do gooder but she is a very fun, engaging character with a heart of gold. She just would not let Cage run roughshod all over her!
