This book is about a woman who decides to loose weight and get fit after her mother dies from a heart attack.
Enjoyed the changes
I found it boring.
I enjoyed this book
Jennifer is her own worst enemy. She projects her own thoughts and feelings about her self worth onto others. When she finally hits bottom she pulls herself up and makes big changes in her life. But did it really change who she was? Read it to find out what happens.
So well written! I could really feel Jenny’s pain.
I really enjoyed this book. I could really relate to her struggle but she was SO angry at everyone I had a hard time liking her. I think everyone has had to lose a few pounds at one time or another but to lose 100 pounds takes an incredible amount of determination and perseverance. Doubt I could do it since 10 pounds is horrible. I admire the self sacrifice she’s made and how well she did but she wasn’t very nice. Kinda wanted to smack her a few times. That being said I couldn’t put it down!
This chronicles the struggle of a young woman to reinvent herself. Losing weights’ easy, but changing who you are on the inside is even harder. It got a bit tiresome toward the end, but I was rooting for her to succeed in every way.
It was fascinating to see Jenn in the midst of finding her true self. If you’ve ever tried to lose weight, this book will inspire you.
Good read. Makes you think of how we judge by looks and not by the person.
This book dives into the world overweight people live in. It is honest. Sometimes it’s sad, other times it’s happy. Sometimes you want to smack the protagonist upside the head, other times you want to be there for her while she digs out from the messes she has made. The main character has to determine how to behave after a dramatic weight personal change where she has worked through some long-standing mental and physical issues, As someone who has suffered from mildly disordered eating, I recognize her behaviors, and how they affect her ability to be happy. There’s no sugary happy ending, but a believable series of events and results that might lead her forward toward happiness. If you have ever truly struggled with weight and the mental state that produces, or if you know someone who struggles, or if you have ever shamed an overweight person or sniggered behind his or her back, or if you are curious about how bullying can affect the rest of a person’s life, this book is for you.
I would like to recommend this book to those who think they’re unattractive because of their weight. It can inspire one to make herself improve her physical appearance as well as build her self-esteemed, and change her outlook in life.
I feel for the main character. Being overweight is so hard, and people don’t realize how hard it is to get your eating under control and get moving to lose weight. I would have liked this book more if the main character hadn’t gotten so MEAN. It got annoying really quickly.
Skinny Me is an unusual and authentic story of the struggle of a young woman to change her body image, while she painfully changes her view of herself and of others.
The main character is not likeable. She thought being overweight was her main problem – she’s wrong.
The author perfectly catches what it’s like to be trapped in a body you hate, and not recognize the changes to it. Unfortunately, the character’s delusions repeatedly interfere with the improvements in her life, and it started to get tiresome.
Such a good book! Easy read with a great journey of self exploration and change by the main character.

Easy to read but the main character was rather childish. I finished anyway and discovered that it included the second book for free. I’m reading that now. It seems better so far, but I’m not far into it.
I enjoyed this book. Felt the characters were real and gave great inside to how overweight people view themselves and the world.
