“Eloisa James’s writing is absolutely exquisite.”—New York Times bestselling author Teresa Medeiros “Nothing gets me to a bookstore faster than a new novel by Eloisa James.”—New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn A wonderful spin on a much-beloved fairy tale, Eloisa James’s When Beauty Tamed the Beast is … James.”
—New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn
A wonderful spin on a much-beloved fairy tale, Eloisa James’s When Beauty Tamed the Beast is heart-soaring and fun historical romance at its finest. No wonder People magazine raves about her books, saying, “Romance writing does not get much better than this.” Eloisa’s delightful take on Beauty and the Beast unfolds in Regency England, where a beastly, bad-tempered Earl matches wits with a brazen beauty who has vowed to make the handsome grump fall in love with her in two short weeks.more
Three words: 19th century House. This is a fun book. Piers, the titular beast, is a disgruntled doctor who doesn’t have time for most people. Linnet, the titular beauty, has given herself 2 weeks to get past her defenses. Que fireworks. This is part of the fairy tale inspired novels so the story does take from them.
Eloisa James is always a good read, and this is one of her classics. This 2011 copy of a lately reissued book has a fabulous cover too.
Spectacular read!
Anybody who enjoyed the series “House” HAS to read this romance! One of my Favorites by Eloisa James!
One of my favorites of the Fairy Tale series Eloisa did.
I liked the book. I have read it twice.
The humor, the romance, the humanity of the characters all make this Beauty and the Beast story a book I could not put down once started and one to read over and over again.
This is one of Eloisa James’ best ‘Fairy-tale’ novels. It’s wonderful and memorable. The characters are interesting and believable.
I didn’t know when I started the book that the hero is based on Gregory House, so I had to make the connection on my own. I don’t always like books that recast a popular character or plot, but this was well done. I loved the way the heroine challenged him. She was confident in herself and that’s a nice change. I’m also not a fan of virgin heroines …
I have read this book over and over I love it so much
Eloisa James writes such entertaining books and this certainly gets high marks!
Eloisa James writing is witty. Her heroines are smart and the banter between the two main characters in this novel is very entertaining. I highly recommend reading book and other Eloisa James novels.
Only read if you are a House super fan
Have you ever watched the TV show House? Imagine Dr. House as a historical romance hero. This is likely my very favorite Beauty and the Beast “retelling” ever. Grouchy, tactless, sarcastic hero who meets his match!
Eloisa James does fairy tales with panache. This take on Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorites and does not disappoint even when re-read. Lots of fun, strong heroine.
James is just good fun. She takes a clear premise and twists it just enough to make it new and interesting, while still recognizable. This particular twist on Beauty and the Beast starts out seemingly obvious, but by the middle you’re starting to wonder which character is truly the monstrous one. A lighthearted romance that has a deeper message. A …
This wasn’t my first Eloisa James novel, but it was the first one I reread as soon as I finished the book. I loved it. I’m a sucker for a great beauty and the beast storyline and this delivered. Sexy and sweet, poignant and charming, it had all the feels.
Just another great read from Ms James. Every one of her books that I have read were so well written–just keeping your interest from beginning to end.
When Beauty Tamed the Beast was an okay read for me. I enjoyed the audio version but I didn’t really care much for the hero or heroine. There was just something about both of them that was off putting to me. I didn’t connect to them and in turn didn’t connect to their love story. It wasn’t a bad read it just didn’t do it for me!
If you know me/my reviews, you’ll find it as amazing as I do that this was my first romance for 2018. I had a large pile of mostly non-romance library books left over from last year that I wanted to read (this was one of them) and it’s taken me till now to get to this one thanks to other more pressing due dates.
I had problems with the only other …
