Great author. The entire series is great. Lots of sexy men with steamy situations. Yum. I highly recommend.
Entertaining enough that it passed the time. A new take on the “rules” of shifters. So that made it fun to read. It does have a happy ish ending.
This was my first shifter lion book. Funny, witty, steamy, entertaining short read.
Great idea of a story/plot line but found myself skimming after only the 5th chapter. I got bored and DNF…
Fun easy read. The entire series is pure entertainment
A ‘hair raising’ story with so much wit and fun, you can’t help but laugh out loud. I found myself giggling and snickering in my silent empty living room late in the night just so I could read this book. Just to imagine the alpha of his pride, a billionaire who is used to getting whatever he demands is brought low by a hair stylist. It was so funny that she found his one weak point (his beautiful hair) to provoke such a funny ‘cat’ and mouse chase. I’ve gone back and read it for the 3rd time and am considering a 4th. Such a fun, romantic read. I absolutely loved the supporting characters. Enough that I’ve read the whole series. Too romantically funny to miss.
This book about shifters is an easy read. I finished it in one evening. It had a couple of interesting twists.
I loved it!!!!! Just hate that it ended so soon.
Loved this series.Great author
There wasn’t enough detail to the characters or relationship build up and strength for me to enjoy it much.
Really enjoyed the book.
Very juvenile written! Didn’t care for it at all
I really enjoyed this story. As a cat lover I could relate to the Alpha’s “kitty” side. The story had humor and romance. It was my first book by this author and I will be reading more.
As always, Eve Langlais has delivered a snarky romp of a shifter romance. I enjoyed the over-the-top give-and-take banter between Arik and Kira. Neither of them really have filters on their mouths; it is a good thing that they both prefer having partners who say what they think. All of that fun only shallowly covered the awful reality of stalking and domestic abuse, which gave what would have been mere froth some depth and reality. This is a book I plan to re-read in the future.
This was a fun shifter romantic suspense. Gotta say that Kira seems like a trouble magnet, but at least she had the good sense to get a lion to fall for her before her warewolf ex tracked her down! Happy Reading!
A good sense of being hunted
I enjoyed this series. I look forward to each one that comes out.
A Humorous & Fanciful Verbal Sparring Match… “When an Alpha Purrs” by Eve Langlais is a light hearted, sharp-tongued wit filled adventure in the land of city dwelling lion shifters. Complete with an over-the-top “king”, pride alpha Arik, a vain, prideful, and beyond arrogant, alpha male. And his, equal in every way, human mate Kira, a human who gives verbal body slams as well as she receives them.
This tale, while fairly serious in its underlying tone, is hysterical and filled with intelligently written, razor sharp dialogue. It realistically portrays the fears and actions one might go through when dealing with a stalking, dangerous ex. And contains substantial characters offering up truthful reactions and heartfelt sentiments to the elements at hand.
Overall I found Langlais’s take on the growly, shifter alpha archetype interesting and more playful than others I’ve read. It was a lovely, ebullient departure from the darker paranormal stories I typically seek.
However, for as joyous as I found the sarcastic banter. The feline play on words, humorous, at first. However, after a few chapters the constant inclusion of the extra “purrs”, “meows”, and excessive references to nap taking, including the inclusion of a human sized nap pillow, cheesy and unnecessary. For me the constant use of these silly quips actually diminished the caliber of the story being told, as well as, the writing itself. Writing, that for the most part I found intelligent and multifaceted.
I get it, it’s a lighthearted story filled with humor, and some wonderfully delicious sarcasm. A story I found to be a refreshingly playful take on the typical brooding shifter stories. But, this one tipped a bit too far in the cheese direction for my liking, making me groan as much as it made me laugh.
Is it worth the read despite the cheese factor, yes, yes it is. You just have to enjoy it for what it is, an over the top, fanciful story of lions, and tigers, and wolves (oh my).
I loved this book and am anticipating the next book in the series.
I read this book twice in a week! It was so interesting and different. I really liked the two main characters. It shows off how one large city can have different worlds built into its structure that you don’t know about unless you are involved in them. Great book!
