I appreciated the way Ms. Krentz handled the topic of sexual assault. There was sufficient grit without hitting any of my triggers. It’s also okay to know who the bad guy is while reading an author’s unconventional plot maze.
Another great book by JAK. Lots of twists and turns, quirky characters and witty dialogue.
Once I got started, I didn’t want to put this one down until the very end!
Jayne Ann Krentz “writes” too many books too quickly these days. (I still keep reading though, I must admit.) This is one of the more original and less formulaic of the bunch.
I flipped back and forth between the audiobook and the eBook. The narrator was great! The story, not so much.
The only reason I held out was to see who the killer was. I was right. It was a long boring ride to figure out that I was right, though.
Sorry. I just couldn’t find anything entertaining about this story.
Loved it, romance and mystery!
Read the series, great!
I picked up this book when I heard about book 2 being out, so I thought I’d better read book 1 first. This is a thoroughly enjoyable page-turner with non-flashy, very likeable, almost ordinary-type leads. I especially enjoyed Charlotte’s job in the assisted living center and how it fit into the plot. The romance builds in a believable way, and the suspense plot is filled with twists and turns. Now I have to pick up book 2.
I kind of stumbled onto this book and JAK when I discovered that she is also Jayne Castle. Having read the GJ series quite some time ago and really liking it, I decided to give this series a try. I like it. I like the characters as well as the story; they were both interesting. The thing I like about a lot of romantic suspense is that they kind of read like a Lifetime movie. Here’s the thing about that though; I like Lifetime movies. Not all the time but definitely once in awhile.
Have read Jayne Ann Krentz for years and enjoy as Krentz and Castle. Not fond of her Amanda Quick books.
Favorite author does it again!

My Thoughts
If there is one thing you are guarantee when picking up this Jayne Ann Krentz book, it is that you are going to be faced with a compelling and attention grabbing story which is full of action . The story takes place in Seattle, WA. and opens in dramatic fashion with a killer set up outside of a cabin waiting on the target to walk out the door. When they do open the door and step out the killer shoots them in the chest. From there it grabs you and don’t let go.I liked both of the main characters because they weren’t both incredibly beautiful people with everything handed to them. They was normal people like you and me. I loved the way the characters have been developed in this series. It’s a page turner that is full of mystery, secrets, and even some romantic moments. The romance is not over the top and does not take over the story.
The plot moves very quickly with unexpected turns and twist but is not so complex that it’s hard to follow.I am looking forward to the stories of the other 2 brothers. Max and his 2 foster brothers are looking for closure to their shared past involving a cult where each of their mothers was killed leaving them all orphans. They were each adopted by the cop who saved them from the burning barn they were locked in at the compound. Is the cult leader dead or out there somewhere ? Guess we will find out in the next two books Promise Not To Tell and Untouchable.
liked it
Very different from most of Krentz’s book. I have loved all of her books. This one was darker and lacked the witty conversations I love. It was written well but not what I was expecting. I’m not sure I was thrilled my favorite author moved in this direction.
I have read Jane’s books from the beginning and this one hit all the buttons I expect from her work. Good book.
Jayne Krentz really knows how to draw you in and keep you guessing. This book is so full of twists and turns that just when you think you know what happened something else happens that makes you change your mind. Kept me guessing until the very end. Can’t believe that I have never ready any of the books she has written. Will definitely read more!
Jayne Krentz is the best! Good story, well paced, with interesting and unexpected twists and turns.
