All that glitters isn’t gold. USA Today bestselling author Autumn Jones Lake’s Wheels of Fire concludes the ultra-romantic, emotional adventure that began in Kickstart My Heart.
The most important lesson I’ve learned in Hollywood, is that besides Chaser’s love, most things that glitter aren’t gold. It’s time for us to decide if the struggles are worth the heartache.
A Perfect 80s Nostalgia Filled, Addicting Story I Simply Could Not Get Enough of…
Autumn Jones Lake’s Hollywood Demons Series is an absolute powerhouse! A trilogy that does not disappoint from start to finish; and this final installment, “Wheels of Fire”, will have you glued to each and every paragraph and leave you begging for more! It is a stunningly beautiful and emotionally powerful addition to Lake’s literary lexicon, a story so unique and perfect in its execution I fell in love with this author all over again.
For those who follow my reviews you know, I don’t say the above lightly. I have read and reviewed all but two of Lake’s books. I have devoted tens of thousands of review words to her Lost Kings MC universe. I have been critical where I felt it was needed, have lamented on several occasions how I found her penchant for writing super long story arcs for her MC couples sometimes too much, too long winded, and at times, tedious. However, here with Chaser and Mallory I could have read a hundred more chapters. I was truly and completely gutted when this final book in their story ended as their coupling will set your soul alight.
Here Lake explodes right out of the gate, plunging us right back into the chaos Andrew has heaped all over the existing insanity of Kickstart’s first full tour. We are thrust through this chaos and then beyond, past the struggles of their burgeoning careers, past the drug and party excesses of their newly minted Hollywood lifestyle, past the initial uncertainties of their slowly cementing relationship, and deep into a level of life altering craziness that will leave you breathless. This final leg in Chaser and Mallory’s story will smother you in emotions so strong, so overwhelming, you will beg for relief. And while after book two I had an inkling of the direction Lake was taking Kickstart in general, in this final leg of their introductory journey, I was still stunned to read it in all its full literary fruition and am now sitting with so many questions where Chaser and Kickstart’s ultimate evolution are concerned. Questions that are quite frankly keeping me awake at night and haunting my dreams…
I said it in my earlier reviews of this arc, Chaser and Mallory are completely mesmerizing! Their story is a mind blowing foray into the dark dangers often accompanied when chasing one’s dreams of stardom. It is yet another powerful and sophisticated glimpse at life and true love as only Lake can write it! A boundary pushing, neon tinged epitome of 80s indulgence that is both delicious and sinfully addicting. I am genuinely sad this one is over as there are so many areas with these two left unanswered and unexplored. Here’s hoping this hasn’t been the last of my now favorite rocker and his soul’s other half!
A definite must read!!
Autumn has done it again. Love these two and can’t wait to see where the story goes!
Loved it, great ending
I’ve loved the crazy ride that Autumn took us on with this trilogy!
It was true to her writing and everything that I love but with a different twist. I had plenty of giggles at various 80’s references. It was a welcome change to read.
This third book was a great way to wrap up this era of Chaser and Mallory. They were just perfect for each other. It was also fun and heartwarming to see tiny versions of some of my favorite Lost Kings characters throughout as well.
Awesome job on another amazing book!
Autumn Jones Lake has the natural gift of immediately drawing the reader into the story. She has done it again with Wheels of Fire. The characters are well written . There’s hot chemistry between the two main characters. There’s balance in the story where you’ll be anxious, sad and laughing. My favorite part was the peek we got of a 14 year old Rocky. It cracked me up . The most frustrating was not getting an answer to a cliff hanger from book two. I actually shouted noooo and then laughed. There’s good flow between books 1-3 in the series and a good segue into Lost Kings MC series. So good!
What a great way to end (for now) the story of Chaser and Mallory! Autumn has done it once again. Wheels of Fire begins right were that lovely cliffhanger left us at the end of Blow my Fuse. Chaser and Mallory hit so many life bumps in this book I think I got a bit of whiplash. This book had it all, at points I found myself crying and laughing and others I wanted to deal out a few throat punches (Andrew). Love a book that evokes so much emotion in a reader. Autumn left a few unanswered questions when the final pages were turned. But maybe that means it not really the end *Wink Wink*
Chaser and his father’s interactions were some of favorite parts of this book. The true definition of “Tough Love” in my opinion. I also love the other characters that make an appearance in this book. Nice to know it is a small world after all.
FIVE STARS & Two Big Thumbs up once again. I highly recommend you read Kickstart My Heart and Blow My Fuse (book one & two) in the trilogy first to get the full story. It will help with context and understanding of characters. Can’t wait for what Autumn creates next. Whatever it is I know it will be RAD!
This was the conclusion for Mallory and Chaser and boy did the author send us off with a bangout book!
I love the interaction between the characters, the storyline as always was amazing.
There was at times where I was anxious to see where it was going and some people had me on the edge wanting to dive into the book and shake them!
I can’t wait to read more books!!!!!
I just have to say Chase and Mallory’s story was awesome!!!! What a blend of Rockstar and MC. Their story brought me laughter, tears, anger, passion and love for Chase and Mallory! Makes me want to start all over with the Lost Kings reread!
Well dang it Autumn did it again and gave Chaser And Mallory’s Story one hell of a ending or is it just the beginning? This is 3rd book in the trilogy and boy she didn’t disappoint me either. She had me wanting to knock heads with certain people and possibly strangle them lol but as you get so close to the end I found myself not ready for it to end but it also starts with the beginning of the men we know and love .thank you Autumn for such a fantastic epic trilogy book and I still can’t wait for more time with Chaser and Mallory in your books.
The conclusion of Hollywood Demons, Mallory and Chaser’s story and it was sonic awesomeness. There are so many ups and downs and twists and turns on their journey but they do it all together. Both of them 100% support each other in their dreams and goals. I absolutely adored that about this trilogy. Yes he is a touring musician and she is a struggling actress in Hollywood but these two put in the work and effort to always be there for each other regardless if they are in a different country or standing right next to each other. All of the drama that these two faced was from outside sources but nothing broke them apart. Their devotion to each other is beyond compare. This trilogy had it all – suspense, laughter, love, tears, heartbreak, joy, throat punchy (yeah that’s you Andrew) but it was perfect. My only complaint is that it is done. Now what do I do? I need more Mallory and Chaser in my life.
This last book in the Trilogy of Hollywood Demons was the perfect ending for Chaser and Mallory! I had so many feels reading this book. I’ll always take more, Mrs. Lake! You keep writing them and I’ll keep supporting your brilliant work.
Oh my goodness! Autumn did it again! The romance, the suspense, the drama, and one particular drummer that won’t go away. She pulls out all of the stops and all of your emotions. This book is the perfect ending to the Hollywood Demons trilogy. Do yourself a favor and read the trilogy, then read The Lost King’s MC series. You won’t regret it.
The third book in Autumn Jones Lake newest LOKI spin-off, Wheels of Fire, continues it’s knarly 80’s rock experience with a side order of mafia/mc drama, and it’s radical! If I didn’t already think Chaser and Mallory were perfect AF, Wheels of Fire solidifies it for me! By the end of the book, I was squealing like a 13-year-old fangirl. Their relationship, their struggles, their victories, just them. GAH, just them!!!!
Yes, all the important stuff that happens around them is great, and Autumn’s writing is superb as ever, but I’m telling you this story with two different characters doesn’t make sense. As always, I’m in awe of Autumn’s ability to write characters who are wholly different yet never dull and still make sense.
If you loved the first two books, then Wheels of Fire will give the HEA you need. If you haven’t read the first two books, well, what the hell are you waiting for?
A swooning hot finale to the Hollywood Demons Trilogy! I hate to say good-bye to Mallory and Chaser!! They are two incredible characters you absolutely love. They are both so young, I expected them to become victims of stupid youthful mistakes. However, they showed a rare strength and maturity that allowed them to develop a respectful and heart-warming romance that was thoroughly enjoyable to read. They stood strong as they faced obstacles together. AND believe me, there were enough outside plot twists to make the story a captivating page turner!
In the final edition of the series, the careers of both characters soar! Both are reaching their dreams. Unfortunately, both are finding that there’s a price to pay for those dreams. Their trip to fame is riddled with highs and lows, joys and pain. These two will have many decisions to make, including the survival of their relationship.
Along the journey we get to see Rock (from Lost Kings) as an early teen. I loved it!! And of course he would hit on Mallory!! It showed Rock as we’ve always envisioned him, a cocky, smart aleck with a profound unwavering quiet strength. I loved seeing Trinity again. Out of all of the Loki Series, to me, Trinity’s story was the most painful. Wheels of Fire allowed me to see how Bishop (her father) was with her and offered me some comfort.
Having grown up in the 80’s I enjoyed revisiting the era. I vividly remember the multiple belt wraps around my waist, the fishnet and wild hair! I easily juxtapose the characters into remembered relevant 80’s characters who dominated the t.v. and music scenes of the time. It made the story more real and come to life in my mind.
All in all the series is a must read. AJL knows how to write a story that hooks you in and captivates your heart! She’ll create characters you’ll love and those that will raise your blood pressure. You’ll ride the roller coaster of emotions as you follow the characters’ journey. Brilliant! And… hint, hint AJL, I think we need Alvin’s story! Definitely Talley’s!!
Wheels of Fire was on fire! I loved this trilogy so damn much I really didn’t want it to end. Chaser is tied for my favorite of Autumn’s men. I need more Chaser and Mallory and I love the fact Autumn tied the epilogue into more current Lost Kings events but still kept it open ended. My fingers and toes will be crossed in hopes that there will be more books centered around Mallory and Chaser. I legit didn’t want to put this book down but at the same time didnt want it to end. So much happens in this book and I dont want to spoil anything so all I’ll say is that it’s a wild roller coaster ride. And I absolutely love that Chaser has Mallory’s back and even when they fight and have disagreements they work through it together. I absolutely love everything Autumn writes and her HFN(happy for now) endings are perfect because because I love when she goes back to revisit a couple for a wedding or baby book I always want to read more about every couple no matter what. This was a fantastic series and I’m still holding out hope Alvin will get a book.
Towards the end of any book that Autumn writes, I start to get sad that it is ending because I don’t want it too. I want the story to continue and stay in the worlds that she creates. This is the conclusion of the Hollywood Demons trilogy, and it is truly the perfect ending for the series. This trilogy has hit every motion available, but it has just been that epic of a trilogy.
Chaser is the alpha protective biker that Autumn nails so well. He is willing to go head to head with anyone, from his father to his band to mega rock stars to protect Mallory.
Mallory really continues to grow a back bone in this book as well. She is not the same naive girl that we met in Kickstart My Heart. She has learned that she has a voice, and she certainly uses it to let her opinions and thoughts known.
This entire series has been through so many emotions, from happy to sad to anger. But this book has them all. Chaser and Mallory experience the highest of highs, and the lowest of lows. You see them when they are so incredibly happy, to a point when their hearts are absolutely breaking. This entire series is a must read!
Wow!!!
This has been an epic trilogy from an amazing author and this book.
I’m speechless. Was a perfect way to end it and also tie into current books.
So much happens in this massive book that you won’t know where to look or what to think.
Starting straight where book left off… don’t be fooled into a false sense of security that once that “issue” is resolved that it’s smooth sailing from there. Couldn’t be father from the truth.
This book is proof of why this author will always be a top author of mine and many others.
Leaving this as a short and sweet review as if I continue gushing I might ruin things and it needs to be experienced first hand.
An absolutely amazing ending to Hollywood Demons trilogy. Autumn Jones Lake takes us on a beautiful journey of unconditional love. Ms. Lake has an unique writing style that is charming, appealing, and definitely alluring. Chaser and Mallory go through so many things but nothing can break them apart. Their devotion and loyalty to one another is undeniable. I loved it.
This trilogy was captivating, it drew me in from the beginning and kept me enchanted till the end. This is a definite must read.
4.5 Stars
Wheels of Fire is the third and final title in the Hollywood Demons trilogy.
It’s full of surprising twists and turns, and we get cameos from some of our favorite characters from the Lost Kings, when they were considerably younger.
Wheels of Fire picks up from where Blow My Fuse left off. Chaser and Mallory’s love and loyalty is undeniable, but they sure face their fair share of hurdles in this epic conclusion.
Overall a thoroughly enjoyable trilogy that made me feel like I was reliving my early childhood, with flashbacks to the eighties.
I was so happy to catch up with Mallory & Chaser once again. I just love how much they love and respect each other, although sometimes doubts may creep in. Their journey took me through so many emotions, I even felt tears on my cheeks in some places. The people in their lives are there to support them and some try to tear them apart. The three books in the Hollywood Demons series are so freakin’ AWESOME you REALLY need to check them out!! I highly recommend this series and the equally epic Lost King series!! I dare you not to fall in love with Mallory & Chaser, and the bonus is the guys from LOKI make appearances, even a young Rock. If you’re on the fence, please take the chance. I promise you won’t be sorry. In fact I’m willing to bet you will become a lifelong fan, just like me!
Enjoy!!
