GOD MADE IT ALL COME TOGETHER IN HIS TIME
I will admit this was the first time reading a book by Ms. Pamela S. Meyers, but it won’t be the last. The story had it all, great characters, a little bit of mystery and suspense, just a touch of angst, and a sweet romance. This story is a clean inspirational contemporary western romance. The two main characters are Clint and Lacy, who both live and work at the McGowen ranch. The story is a beautiful blend of grace, forgiveness, acceptance, and new beginnings. I was crying happy tears at the end.
Clint Palmer is a man who was raised by a single mother who was a drunk. He never knew his father, and his mother refused to give him information. He has worked on the McGowen ranch for years. While the McGowen’s are Christians, Clint doesn’t want any part of that lifestyle. Where was God in his life? Allowing him to grow up with a drunk mother and no father?
“Maybe it’s time you stop turning your back on God. Not so you can get the girl, but so you can get your life headed in a better direction.” –Jace
“God doesn’t want the likes of me.” –Clint
Lacy Roberts is more at home with the McGowen family than with her parents, who shunned her years ago. She has a secret that eventually she will share with Clint, but will that have him thinking less of her? When someone from her past comes back in the picture, trouble begins—has he found Lacy’s Achille’s heel? Could her desire to go to school in the East a dream or running away from the present?
The story has a great cast of characters, interaction, along with emotions. While this story is Christian-based, it is never preachy but instead shows God’s love and forgiveness to anyone who asks. It has a bit of mystery, both in Lacy’s life and in Clint’s. Will a secret cause Clint to think less of Lacy? Will an item lead to Clint learning the truth about his parentage?
“You two need to stop dancing around the obvious and admit your feelings.” –Jace
The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly. Lacy is caught between the past and the present. She loves working with food and is considering going to Culinary school, yet she doesn’t want to leave her Aunt Carolyn during a health crisis. Clint is a man who struggles with family, his mother’s drunkenness, not knowing who his father is, and learning that people don’t live up to his expectations. He avoids God and church, and it is basically a closed subject—but God is working in his life. Then there is Lacy’s past back and dangling the carrot to get what he wants—but things aren’t as they seem.
“You Christians think you have all the answers.” –Clint
“No, but God does. Think about it. You’ll know when the time is right to take a look.” –Tim
I love that this story portrays Christians as imperfect people who a loving God forgives. No one pushes their beliefs on anyone else, and eventually, God works in the lives of several people—especially Clint’s. Every step of the journey is worth the pain when it is all in God’s perfect timing.
