What You Did is the second book in the Eva Rae mystery series by Willow Rose. When three teenage girls go missing after the high school prom, detective and former boyfriend Matt Miller asks Eva for help. Former FBO profiler, Eva, had been trying to find her sister who has been missing for years and is reluctant to join the investigation. But, when a body is found in her backyard, Eva realizes the murderer is targeting her and she joins the investigation. Warning, this book has a cliff hanger ending which I liked but some readers may not.
FBI horror detective story a good read
Willow Rose always delivers. Great characters and story as well easy to read prose. A real page turner!
This review is for the audio book.
I enjoyed this book. Like the other books written by Willow Rose the story jumps around in time and is told by different characters, so you are left wondering what everything has to do with each other. Most of the time I get really confused with stories written like that because you have to really concentrate to follow along but this is not the case with this book and it does all come together. ‘Then’ is the part explaining why the killer is doing what he is doing and ‘now’ you get the perspective of one of the kidnapped girls or Eva Rae the main character. The actual mystery was interesting (if a little bit scary) but be warned you will want to get the next book because it has left it on a cliff hanger.
Eva Rae is called in when three teenage girls go missing after attending there prom night. With not clues or a ransom note things don’t look good and even Eva is struggling to come up with a reason. Did they just run away? The another young girl is found tangle up in a playmate in Eva’s own backyard. Warning bells go off in Eva’s head and not just because the girl found is a friend’s daughter and she had been brutally attacked. Both cases make her think of past cases she had worked on as an FBI agent but the perpetrators had been killed or caught. Can she work out who is terrorising the residents of Coco beach? And find the missing girls before it is to late? And which other cases will be copied before then?
I liked the narrator she has a pleasant voice that is easy to listen to.
Everything Willow Rose write is absolutely fantastic. I can’t put it down!
New favorite character
Willow Rose earns her title of “Queen of Scream” with this one for me for sure!! If this doesn’t rattle you to the bones I would be very surprised. It involves every mothers and fathers nightmare.
Some of the scenes will have you quivering in fear for the teenagers who were abducted. I found myself crying when a 4 month old was taken from his carriage. You will feel the emotions of the characters throughout.
This is the second book of this series I read and I will definitely be reading all the rest to follow Eva Rae and her boyfriend and family to see what other mishaps she will have to overcome! This can be read as a stand alone but I suggest you read the first in the series as well!
This is a most excellent book! It has everything needed for a pulse-pounding story. I can’t wait to start the third book in this series. Great job, Willow Rose. Please keep Eva Rae coming.
That freaking ending!!! Okay that’s all I will say about that for now. This author has a lot of action and mayhem, intrigue, oh crap moments and too much more to mention. You have flashes to the past which are supposed to help you understand what’s going on in the present, giving you the back story. It’s supposed to help reinforce the present and the action going on with the three girls which have disappeared.
Is it personal? That’s the whole twist and turn, the dark and gritty style this author has which is what brings you back for more. This style is what makes her books great reads which ends up being a mindfu$k type of read. Her blows in her books are hard and dirty and they will knock you for a loop. She doesn’t hold back or sugar coat it, the worst of the worse happens to her characters. As long as you know that in advance you can kinda sorta prepare yourself.
The thing that can cause a stirring is the number of things going on and the fact that they tend to be a bit over the top and cause you to stretch to stay in the groove of the story. IF you are the type of reader who doesn’t care just wants a great story you are in the correct place because she will definitely make it worth your while. In this case this ends in a cliff hanger. Yeah I know and it’s a doozie and in my personal opinion just wrong. While she does state on the other books that they are standalone she doesn’t state it on this one so I really can’t complain. Personally I wish I could give this 3.5 stars but since that’s not possible I will have to do a 4 star review.
Unexpected twist. Easy to read and left me wanting to keep reading.
I couldn’t put this book down, wonderfully written!
Willow Rose continues to impress me with each and every book I read.
Spine-tingling drama not for the faint of heart. When 3 teens go missing after Senior Prom, The their parents are in shock! Did they run away, go on a senior trip without telling their parents, or something more sinister?
As Eva Rae and Matt try to weave through all of the clues, one parent receives a disturbing package from Fed Ex, a calling card, one that will bring everyone to their knees.
Then the unthinkable happens to a 4th member of the group of friends, the only one who decided to leave the prom early and go home.
Eva and Matt now know this isn’t only a sickening maniac, but one who has become personal.
A serial killer who doesn’t fit one profile, but fits them all!!!
Grab this book or any from this masterful suspense author. Absolutely addictive.
I am now on my 3rd book in this series. Makes me want to come back for more.
I love Willow Rose
Great book by one of my favorite authors.
Quick, easy read! Kept my interest.
So I read as fast and as much as I could because I just needed to know who the sick monster was, and, of course, it hit me totally unpredictably. And on top of that, the cliffhanger…
Engaging mystery. First one i’ve read by this author but will definitely read more.
This book will pull you into the pages. The characters are so well written that you will feel like they are right next to you. This is another great thriller that will keep you reading to see what happens next. I enjoyed this book very much! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Another thriller that I have come to expect from Willow Rose. It is prom night and 4 girls go missing. They are held captive in a basement. Eva Rae, former FBI profiler, and her boyfriend detective are trying to solve the case. This novel captures your interest from the beginning and holds onto you until the conclusion. This one is a cliff hanger that you will want to read the next addition. This is truly a page turner.
