Readers’ Comments
‘This book is perfect for bedtime. Absolutely perfect!’ Male reader (parent), aged 37
‘Such a sweet book with wonderful illustrations. Although I don’t agree with all of the vocab – a little too difficult I thought – it is full of charm and wonder. I would try this with any child who is frightened of going to bed. They might start to see it as an opportunity as opposed to a chore.’ Female reader (primary school teacher), aged 54
‘I was ‘WOWED!’ by the illustrations. The book looks amazing. I very much enjoyed reading this with my 6 year old at bedtime. He loved it too!’ Female reader, aged 43
‘Good rhyming story, rhythm a little off in parts. The story is well told with mostly age-appropriate words. A clever premise as parents are always on the lookout for good bedtime books. Excellent font, perfect for the genre, and superbly illustrated.’ Male reader (publisher), aged 52
‘I liked this book very much. It was fun to look at the pics. Also, I think this might be good for children who don’t want to go to bed.’ Girl, aged 8
To Sum It Up:
‘A truly wonderful picture book, written with charm and illustrated with flamboyance. A FINALIST and highly recommended.’ The Wishing Shelf Book Awards
I thought that this book was a really good one. Helping children wind down and go to sleep is hard enough. This book may be a problem solver for some.
I won this book from the Member Give Away on Library Thing.
What Wonders Do You See When You Dream by Justine Avery is a fun bedtime book for the little ones. My five year old grandson loved the story as well as trying to name the different things in the pictures. The illustrations were story and age appropriate.
We get tired of childrens books having the same theme. There are so many retellings of nursery rhymes, fairy tales, etc. The kids end up getting bored and start dreading story time. It’s important to keep them interested in books, in reading, and having that one on one time with them. This books is different. It’s not something that we’ve read before which makes it a big win for me. My grandson sat still and participated. So thank you very much Ms. Avery!
I loved how creative it is. The pictures are beautiful and the little girl looked like a doll. The colors are pretty. I like her books and want to read more later.
This review is from my 6 yr old granddaughter who enjoyed recognizing words and being able to read most of it with no help. That’s always a plus in her eyes. The artistry is amazing although sometimes it was a little hard on the eyes because on the kindle the writing comes out real small. I am sure this isn’t a problem with the written book and since my eyes are challenged anyway problem not a problem for most folks. I love the way the author connects with a kids eye and will definitely add this author to my grand-daughters favorite authors.
A cute children’s book that gets kids excited for bed and all the magical dreams they will have. Beautiful watercolor illustrations for the perfect bed time story.
Loved this. Read it aloud to my 3 year old niece — and it worked like a charm — she fell fast asleep. Also, it is very gentle and the colors are vivid and pleasing, but soft. We were both in a good mood when we finished, and I for one had pleasant dreams that night.
