Just five months ago, Valentine O’Dell started working at a very special kind of club – one where you can dance the night away, or live out your greatest fantasy. She’s learned to lose herself to her nights, forgetting all her day time woes as she charms every man she meets. It’s easy enough to do when she doesn’t let her feelings get involved. Then Ari Sharapov walked in and changed everything.… everything.
Working for his father’s law firm has left Ari with very little control over his life, so when he meets Valentine for the first time, he sees a girl who is desperate for someone to take care of her. To take over her. So what he can’t get for himself in the day time, he’ll simply take for himself at night. But when power struggles lead to real feelings, who’s actually controlling whom?
Some relationships are better left in the dark.

This book was explosive and smoking hot and freaking amazing.I’m just blown away.
This kinda reminded me of that movie called Pretty Women.
Valentine’s life is total chaos.Five years ago her parents died and she was left in care of her sister, but the only thing her sister did is empty her bank account. Deciding that the fresh start is what she needs, she moves to Chicago to live with her grandma.Except, thing didn’t turn out like Valentine’s planed. Her grandma got sick, her medical bills are expensive and Valentine’s school is also very expensive. So she did the only thing she could do,she found a job.
Working at Cache is interesting,to say the least. There you can spent the whole night dancing or living your craziest fantasy(I wish I could visit that club).
Valentine is mostly liking her job, usually she is only dancing with her clients or drinking. She never did anything to question her own moral.Until Ari.
Ari Sharapov is one sexy, moody asshole. He is lawyer and practically royalties in Chicago. But his entire life is controlled by his father. When he meets Valentine he sees her as someone who is in desperate need to let loose a little bit and let someone take care of her.So his next move is to pay for her company for the next two weeks.
This arrangement put these two together but is also drew them apart. It’s clear from the beginning that they are two different world, not meant to last.
Valentine’s is poor girl, working like escort and trying to make ends meet, while Ari is rich lawyer with great future waiting for him.
This doesn’t stop them from developing feelings but while Valentine’s is nice girl, wiling to confess her feelings,Ari is world greatest asshole.
The plot was really great. It was fun and entertaining. The cliffhanger really left me wanting more of these two.I can’t wait to see what will happen with Ari and Val.The writing was amazing and I’ll be honest the sex scenes were smoking hot.
I definitely recommend this book.
Quote:
Ari longed for just that – control. That’s what drew him to Valentine so much, she represented so many things he wanted. Things he needed. A relationship he could be in complete control of, one where he called all the shots, one where he took what he needed and didn’t have to care about the other person.
She needed money.
He wanted sex without attachment.
What We Do in the Night is my first read by Stylo Fantome and I can’t wait to read more by this author. What We Do in the Night is the first book in the Day to Night Duet and has a cliffhanger ending. It’s a dual POV romance that I found intensely sexy with sharp writing that kept me turning page after page. Ari Sharapov, is undoubtedly, a true asshole hero. He’s categorically rude, takes pleasure in wielding his sharp tongue to cut down his ‘opponents’—a term I use loosely as no one is exempt from said tongue within the pages of this book—and has a true dry sense of humor to round out his character. I’ll be honest. Ari PISSED me off more than once… and I was completely put off by his character at first, yet I cannot deny the intrigue I felt towards him as I read each page. And just the opposite was true of the Valentine O’Dell—Saint Valentine at Caché—a sassy, spunky siren of a heroine that I absolutely loved! She’s had one hurdle after another thrown at her and can’t catch a break. Her relationship with Ari is not meant to include sex, unless she decides it’s what she wants. Yet the intense connection between them ignites a fire anytime they are around one another. This story was sexy as hell—I doubt anyone walks away from this with dry panties! What We Do in the Night contained minimal angst and was truly a delicious read that I recommend for anyone looking for a spicy story with an intriguing plot. (Although to be clear, this is not erotica…nevertheless, it comes awfully close! )
Quotes:
Her body was a conduit for music, she gave it form and figure. Turned it into sex and magic.
“An Asshole and a whore… a match made in heaven”
“It couldn’t have been just ‘anybody’ – I wouldn’t have felt that way about anyone else. It had to be you, because you’re it. You’re what I’ve been searching for.”
“You and I are cut from the same cloth, babe. Maybe from different tailor shops and maybe for different outfits, but definitely the same material.”
A saint of many things
—>>> As soon as Ari sets eyes on the unexpected girl who had introduced herself as “Valentine” at Caché, he knows he has just found everything he was looking for. She was perfect, because she would give over the control he so desperately needed to wield, the only slice of his life he could have control over. This yin-yang relationship worked well as he took measures to ensure he could have her available to him when he needed her, giving her the financial and emotional breathing space Valentine so desperately needed to care for her grandmother. Their dynamic changes, however, when they begin to realize they cannot really fit into each other’s lives in the bright light of day, when their mutually agreed-upon contract begins to encroach upon this-is-my-real-life time versus the fantasy nights and escapes that their encounters together have thus far offered.
This author’s writing style and characters are uniquely engaging to me. I was instantly drawn into both these strong characters’ POVs and knew and felt exactly where they were coming from. The anxiety, the frustration, the inner struggles, the wonder, the rules they told themselves they had to follow despite the leanings of their hearts.
This is definitely a story I want to complete, the “Saint Valentine” pitted against Mr. Aaron Sharapov, Esquire, who wants more than she can give of herself, even though she has already given him all she could.
Stylo Fantome digs back into her erotica roots and writes an invigorating, captivating darker tale of two separate souls from vastly different walks of life whose worlds collide into each other and completely combust. Both with plans now blown to smithereens we see these two compliment each other with Fantome’s usual mix of banter, playfulness, passion and growth.
If you’re into tricky, tortured, alpha heroes coupled with quirky, honest, determined heroines plus a host of interesting secondary characters this book, told from the dual point of views of both main characters, is a definite must read. A good girl masquerading as a bad girl and bad boy masquerading as a good boy = total combustion when they realize they’re both just as bad as they are good. A story that’s both taboo in the night and yet seemingly normal in the day that catapults into something wholly unique and intriguing right from the start. The budding relationship is doomed from the start on paper but the chemistry and passion both of these characters possess is perfect for this story and for who they are as individuals.
The setting takes place somewhere unique and interesting adding flair to the plot. And the plot with it’s two-people-from-different-sides-of-the-tracks destined for either greatness or craziness flows naturally. I was engaged the entire time and read this book in barely two sittings. I was invested in the characters and their plights.
Stylo’s writing, as usual, transported me right out of my comfort zone into a fantasy worthy of a great escape from day-to-day life. She tells the story of her great characters with honesty, humor, passion, and conflict. What We Do in the Night hails with Fantome’s signature story telling stamp and promises to memorize and entertain.
What We Do In The Night is yet another facet of Stylo Fantôme’s wide range of writing genres. In her latest book, she offers an enticing and sensual story.
Val and Ari both are both looking for reprieves of their stressful lives. Val works in a select and hidden club, Cliché, were all the fantasies can be realised. Ari is a brilliant lawyer whose life is cripling under family expectations. Their encounter leads to a contract, that allows them to explore what they can’t afford in the light of day: her desire to be taken care of and his need to take control.
Double lives, secrets, but also guilt and hurt are the price to pay for them to bask in the intensity and beauty of their nights together.
Stylo Fantôme created an incredible atmosphere of pleasure, and lushness where dominance becomes a game both Val and Ari mastered. Only one question remains. What happens when the night clashes with the day?
I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED AN ARC COPY OF THIS BOOK. THANK YOU!!!
What We Do In the Night was a gripping, sexy and quite addictive read.
Ari was a entitled, cocky alphahole that I couldn’t get enough of. Honestly, he would draw me in only to frustrate me then his deliciously dirty mouth and the glimmer of his true self would draw me back in like a moth to a flame.
Valentine won me over from the start. Feisty, strong with such a huge heart she was desperately trying to juggle everything life had thrown her way when she met Ari. I loved how they each provided the other with the chance to be free to be themselves. Whether these two were singeing my fingers through my Kindle with their steamy scenes or from the sparks that flew whenever they were near the other I loved Val and Ari together.
Sensual, charming, intense, and intriguing What We Do In the Night kept me riveted from start to finish and has me eagerly looking forward to the rest of Ari and Val’s deliciously addictive story.
OMFG! This book was gripping and hot AF!!
“To not be in control…what a gift.”
Valentine O’Dell works like a demon to make ends meet. She’s got an iron grip on her life in an effort to make it all work. When Ari Sharapov comes into her life and is happy to take the control away from for a few blissful hours at a time, she’s not sure if she’ll ever be in full control again.
“So perfect and willing and mine. Mine to do whatever I want with.”
Ari is wealthy, cold and determined. He works at a job that he doesn’t particularly like to be worthy of taking over his father’s law firm – a father he doesn’t especially like either. When he meets Valentine, something clicks and he knows he’s found the one to fit his needs. However, as time goes on, what appeared cut and dried suddenly begins to blur, and he questions what he’s willing to give up to have her.
I couldn’t put this book down! I found it captivating right from the start. The the sexiness, the tension, the passion. Ari and Valentine were so fiery and stunning together. I loved Valentine’s spunkiness, resourcefulness and sassiness. She certainly had a ton of stuff on her plate and yet she kept trudging onwards, doing what she had to do. Ari is stuck in what appears to be a dream life but not really living. I loved how Valentine slipped through into his frozen heart. They have social obstacles to overcome and misunderstandings to clear up, but they are like yin and yang, and I’m desperate for their conclusion. It’s going to be a long wait!!
Ari and Valentine story has it all, its sweet, sexy, the banter between this two is amazing, the chemistry is there and is hot with a capital H. It had. Great pace and the writing was good. Stylo Fantome really pulls you in the story.
I enjoyed it, even tho at time I wanted to choke Ari, that guy is truly an ahole… lol
Over all, it was great and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
I loved this book. It was a page turner to see what happens next. Ari and Valentine are so hot together. This is one book that will have you fanning yourself all the way through the book.
Valentine is working at a very exclusive night club, where you can dance the night away or live out your wildest fantasies. Nothing is off limits, well only if you say no. Valentine takes care of her grandma and goes to college. Ari is the boyfriend of the girl who Val has to do a class project with. Val needs to get a good grade on this. Ari walked into the night club one night to ask the boss for Val to be exclusively his for 2 weeks. Val gets a good chunk of that money. But what happens when the 2 weeks end? They both develop feelings for each other. Will everything change?
This is my first book by Stylo Fantome and oh how I loved it. I could not put it down.
I can not wait to read the next one. Yes, it was that good.!!
This is my first Stylo Fantome book and I’m so excited for book two! I was so caught up in the story I read it into settings.
Told in dual POVs, you get a glimpse into the inner thoughts and feelings of Valentine and Ari. They are from two completely different worlds but yet escape into a world of their own…in the night…or so it starts. They’re both escaping from their daily lives searching for a reprieve, “a break”, a release.
Ari has external influences and expectations to deal with and fiinds himself in a dilemma between his life and his true feelings. He faces a difficult time ahead with his father because they’re from two different worlds telling Valentine she’s the Saint that has to protect them.
Ultimately it ends in a cliffhanger that left me feeling like I want to know what happens next, like now! I Loved it!
This book is about Valentine who is a dancer to an exclusive club, she works there as a person who helps entertain and show the ropes to the newcomers to the club. That’s how she met Ari a wealthy young lawyer who is new to the club. Valentine shows him the ropes and the special features in the club but he also wants to spend some exclusive time with Valentine.
The heroine is a tough girl who move from New York to help her grandmother and go to design school. And the Hero is a a-hole you want to kiss and punch in the face at the same time . Even though there are times I want to kick him in the jewels for his actions and words he uses he still has some redeeming qualities. And that ending though gah I have to wait for book 2 to come out. Stylo never disappoints with her great stories and characters. 5 star review.
A delightful read from Stylo – erotic, passionate, slightly on the darker side – a tale of two opposites whose chance meeting make their worlds explode!
Valentine has not had an easy life so far, lost both her parents, lost what money she had to her sister, and then ended up moving in with her Grandma who then suffered a stroke and needs round the clock care. With not much money to spare she makes ends meet with a carer and a housemate and by working in an exclusive club as a dancer/escort, the only rule she sets for herself is to not sleep with the customers.
Ari is a wealthy lawyer working at his Dad’s firm, they don’t get along that well but knows the firm will eventually be his. He works hard and plays hard. He’s powerful, arrogant, cold, ruthless and always gets what he wants. He sees Valentine in the club and sets his sights on her. He makes a special arrangement with her boss and pays a major amount of money in order to guarantee that he has her time exclusively for the next two weeks.
I loved Valentine, she was kind and caring, strong and feisty, she gave Ari as good as she got and stood up to him. I loved how at night she got dressed up and turned into this completely other person in the club, a fantasy version of herself who just let loose.
Ari is definitely an acquired taste, he’s very much a douche bag and very arrogant and domineering, hot and sexy A.F. though, but there is something about him that was very likeable when he wasn’t being such a douche. I loved the banter and passion between Ari and Valentine, they make a brilliant couple when things are going right. But of course things don’t always go right and Ari makes a monumental cock-up which gives the story a cliffhanger of an ending!
A thoroughly entertaining read, classic Stylo with an douche alpha and sassy heroine, wonderfully written that left me wanting more, can’t wait for part 2. Highly recommended reading.
It’s been a while since I last read a novel by Stylo Fantome and I’m not ashamed to say it was the cover art that first attracted me to this one. However, once having read the blurb I was more than attracted to the sensual intrigue it promised.
What We Do in the Night is apt in both title and theme of Valentine O’Dell’s life of late. By day she is a hard working student majoring in Design Management and at night she brings peoples fantasies to life at exclusive adult playground, Caché. Not quite a club, Caché is a place where people can either have an incredible night out, or indulge in a more hedonist experience if they so wish. It’s Val’s job as fixer of sorts to find out what it is the client wants, and to make sure they get it.
Val is a character I knew I was going to like from the outset. She has a story, and her circumstances have led her to Caché. But rather than let it affect her she grits her teeth and absorbs the blows that life socks her with. She’s not immune to being overwhelmed at times, which is why when Ari Sharapov makes her a proposition, she feels a relief in pressure and says yes.
“When you take control, it means I don’t have to be in control anymore. It means for just a little while, I don’t have to be making the big decisions.”
Ari is an asshole plain and simple. He’s successful, handsome and can turn most situations into one that is advantageous to him. He’s rather clinical in his attraction to Val. He acknowledges and wants to explore it until I suspect it wears off and he moves on. As we get to get to know him we realise that indeed he’s still an asshole, but it’s more of a device he uses with Val to mask his admiration and fierce feelings of protectiveness he has for her. Ari was once smug enough to think of Val as a commodity, and it was enjoyable for me and humbling for him to realise she is in fact his most valuable asset.
What We Do in the Night is a sinfully good exploration of desire and finding love in the most unlikely of places. It was addictive and pleasurable reading which left me on a high and desperate for the conclusion to Val and Ari’s story.
How far can you go for your loved ones even if means stretching and breaking boundaries of your morality? Can fantasy and real world stay separate when one doesn’t even know what is true self? Stylo Fantome weaved a story of burning passion and insane sensuality of two broken souls in What We Do In The Night. The story was overwhelming brilliance which captured my heart and soul completely!
Ari Sharapov and Valentina do not belong to same world even remotely. Ari is a renowned lawyer and Valentina shows the best time of life to the attendees of Caché, a super secret and exclusive club. This club makes dream come true. And Valentina is the best at the job. But Ari is enamoured and enthralled by her. And he wants her exclusively no matter what the price may be. What started as a strict deal becomes a dance of desire, affection and too deep connection of souls. Everything is complicated. And they don’t know how to come out of this storm safely. Being first book of a duet, I knew there will be a cliffhanger. But the end left me raw and devastated.
I am a die hard fan of Stylo Fantome. Her words have this extraordinary talent of expressing most convoluted, heartbreaking and awe inspiring emotions effortlessly and flawlessly. Ari Sharapov is a man in body of a beast, with a devil’s attitude and basically an angel’s heart. Valentina has awed me. She is so strong, honest, emotional and giving. Their chemistry was a third character in the story. It was dirty, filthy, phenomenal, all consuming and intense. They both feel the need for each other but they are far from accepting it. The push and pull was simply magical. The story was impeccably planned which kept me engaged and tensed all the time. The mind-bending, heart rending and angsty emotions were almost suffocating and hence absoultely perfect.
What We Do In The Night by Stylo Fantome was an exciting and delicious treat for me. It was dark, erotic, intoxicating and raw. It left me begging and craving for more!
Received ARC for Honest Review (less)
4 stars. This was a good book! What We Do in the Night is book one in the Day to Night duet. This is the beginning of Valentine and Ari’s story. Valentine lives a double life. During the day, she cares for her elderly grandmother, lives with her and goes to college for fashion design. At night, she works in the exclusive underground club, Cache. The club is fantasy world for adults, with adventure, excitement, games, drugs, sex… you name it you can get it at Cache. Val works as an escort there. She hosts clients there for money and shows them the time of their lives to pay her and her grandmothers bills. (She does not sleep with her clients) Ari is a rich, arrogant lawyer. He comes to Cache with some friends and meets Val. They have immediate chemistry, Ari decides he wants Val to work for him exclusively, doing what she does at Cache for him for two weeks. Val is reluctant but the money he offers her would help her so much to pay her bills. So Ari and Val begin a paid relationship of sorts, which leads to feelings (and denial of those feelings) on both parts, and the situation blows up in their faces.
I really enjoyed this book. I adored Valentine. She was relatable and her problems were easy to sympathize with. She was an awesome heroine- funny, strong, not a bitch, sweet and vulnerable. I liked Ari too. He could be a jerk, but he wasn’t too bad. He wasn’t cold or unfeeling. Ari had a lot of pressure at work and from his father. He needed Val to lighten up his life and give him what he needed. It was obvious these two were perfect for each other. They had great chemistry, matching kinks, but also humor and a true connection. They were falling in love, despite trying not to, because it didn’t fit into their life plans. Ari makes a mistake by saying something he didn’t mean which Val overhears. He knows he screwed up. There is a cliffhanger, but I didn’t think it was awful. I have faith that Ari and Val are meant to be and can work everything out between them.
Overall, this was a good book! Sexy, a little suspenseful and totally addictive. I enjoyed seeing Ari and Val’s story develop. I really liked these two as a couple and I look forward to the next book and conclusion to their story!
*Just a safety FYI- Ari does have a girlfriend at the beginning of the book, but breaks up with her quickly. She is in Val’s college class and is a huge bitch, especially to her, so there is some drama with that throughout the book. There is no cheating.
“Everything was so perfect, but then she had to fall in love, and I had to grow a heart.”
Valentine O’Dell hasn’t had an easy go at life. She has struggled most of her twenty two years. She lost her parents as a teenager, and then her sister drained her trust fund. With no money to her name, she moves from New York to Chicago to live with her grandma. About a week after she gets there, her grandma has a stroke and now requires round the clock care. The expenses are adding up, and this leads to her taking a job as a dancer/escort at an all exclusive club. She has just one rule though… No sleeping with the customers.
Ari Sharapov is a wealthy lawyer who works at his dad’s firm. He is not a real fan of his dad, but works for him knowing one day the firm will be his. He works hard for all he has, and he plays even harder. The minute he lays eyes on Valentine, he knows that he has to have her. He pays her boss a large sum of money to have her exclusively for two whole weeks. With combustible chemistry and fiery hot banter, the no sex rule is soon quickly forgotten.
Valentine and Ari weren’t your average pair. They were from different worlds and both equally flawed. They didn’t just meet and fall in love with a happily ever after. No, their story goes way beyond the norm there. There is lots of angst, drama, a crazy jealous ex and steamy hot sex. I connected easily with these characters and enjoyed watching their relationship grow. The story-line flowed well and had me craving for more with each page that I turned. So I am giving you two big thumbs up and telling you that you should give this one a go.
“A sinner and a saint, both at the same time.”
You know the effect of the certain blue pill? Yeah, that’s exactly what reading Stylo’s books is doing to me. And What We Do In The Night might be the hottest story she ever wrote. This book is the epitome of fulfilling desires and satisfying cravings. Welcome to the Caché- the place where you’ll find what your body and mind longs for!
Two people from different worlds.
Coincidental encounter.
An arrangement that will change everything.
This story is full of unrestrained lust and forbidden feelings. It’s also about founding balance. Valentine for once in her life wants to give the power to someone else. She needs to forget about responsibilities and obligations for awhile. Ari in turn craves to be in charge. His whole life was dictaded by his father and his deal with Valentine gives him what he needs. But things quickly are getting complicated. The lines are starting to blur. Because Ari and Valentine are made for each other not only physically… But any kind of sentiment was completely off the table. So can they just part ways when the time will come?
Mean, foul-mouthed heroes are my weakness. And Ari Sharapov is really, really bad. There were times when I wanted to slap him, but despite everything I fell for him hard. He’s possessive, controlling and arrogant. But he can also be caring. Valentine O’Dell aka Saint Valentine is alluring, seductive but also hardworking and devoted. On the surface they’re complete opposites, but when we start to peel their layers we can see that precisely these differences are making them so matched. They’re like missing pieces of puzzles- one’s lacking is the other’s completion. And don’t get me started on their sexual compatibility… Their intimacy was totally combustible! The scenes in this book were unbelievably passionate. After so many years of reading romances there’s a few things that can make me blush, but Stylo Fantome mastered writing intimate scenes to such an extent, that during read I need to take a break and either take a cold shower, or go and find my husband. No joking here.
What We Do In The Night is very seductive and riveting story, that will keep you hooked on every word. The storyline is captivating and you can fell the steam pouring from every page of this book. Add to that Stylo Fantome’s flawless writing and you’re set for a very enjoyable read.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
5 amazing stars!! Another hit by Stylo Fantôme!!!
This is book one of “Day to Night” series. This is not a stand alone.
I want to cry (truly I want to get on my knees and beg this author to give me book two). So I was intensely reading along to this fantastic book. I flipped the page after a “holy shit” moment and it was fucking over!!! Omg I had to like go back and forth I was for sure there is no way the book is over. Nobody could break your heart this bad. Right?!?! No this author broke me. I’m not ready for this book to be over. I need more. This book is delicious!!
This is a story of a regular old middle class girl (who hit a bunch of bumps in the road and is now just making ends meet and doing everything on her own) finding herself the opportunity of a lifetime with a guy who is sexy as sin and rich as ever. No feelings. No attachments. But can she keep it that way?
First of all, can I say even though Ari is a jerk he is sexy as sin!! Second off my hats off to Valentine, she is a hustling ass good woman. Love these two together sooo much!!! The chemistry is explosive!
I have been a fan of this author for awhile now. I enjoy her style and the men she creates are always just what a girl needs! This is a must read. This book is sexy, charming, funny, realistic, interesting, fun, and so much more!! I absolutely can not wait for book 2!!!!!
**I received this book as an ARC and in return gave my honest review**
4.5/5 STARS

Stylo Fantôme is one of the very few authors I trust when I want to leave my comfort zone.
Valentine and Ari’s love story is unconventional, scorching, raw, but also romantic.
They reminded me a little of the Kane trilogy, of course, but each couple has its very own specificities (and Jameson and Tate will always own a very special place in my heart).
I loved how strong and yet fragile Valentine is, how she fights every day for her family, how can she is.
I loved to hate Ari, asshole extraordinaire, who may be rich but also fights a life that doesn’t make him happy.
And Caché’s secret world, with all those endearing characters, who may not belong to Days’ World, but show so much more humanity and kindness than those rich people who rule the world outside…
Val and Ari’s chemistry is off the charts!! What started like a business is slowly becoming so much more, but being both from such opposite worlds, can they have any kind of future together?
Oh, Ari, you’d better redeem yourself…
I can’t wait for book 2!!!
Did I mention I hate cliffhangers??
I hate them.
I hate the wait,
But Stylo Fantôme’s stories are so worth the frustration!!!

I am in love with this book. Vintage Stylo Fantome, What We Do in the Night features one heck of a feisty and headstrong heroine in Valentine and the ultimate cocky bastard in Ari. Yet somehow, even though their ‘relationship’ is borne out of a business kind of agreement, these two stubborn fools can’t help but fall hard for the other. And honestly, who could blame them. I’m in pure lust with the both of them and had a hard time letting them go.
The way both Ari and Valentine can put the other in their rightful places could be both hysterical and erotic at the same time. Only Fantome seems to be able to pull that kind of combination off that well. And she does, over and over again. The sparks are flying bright as Ari and Val try to avoid anything more than just client and escort but they simply fit together oh so well. The way they understand what the other might be going through even when they’ve kept their private lives just that, shines through any darkness they are both holding onto.
With Val being Saint Valentine during her nighttime rituals at Cache, I was in awe of her strength and her courage despite the adversity she has long been subjected to. Earning that moniker easily imo. With Ari as the man who could actually be her knight in dented armor, finding his soulmate with Val seems almost fantastical. But there is a true affection between them that I am hoping will lead to a satisfying conclusion in book two.
The other side of both Ari and Valentine, when they are away from each and living in the ‘real world’ is seamlessly woven into their nighttime activities perfectly. Getting a glimpse into the lives they lead separately shows just how far apart their worlds continue to be. But thankfully, within both of them is a need to be more. To be loved more. And to simply have someone who will really see them for who they are in the light.
With secondary characters like Del, Charice, Angel, and even Evans and Bailey, Fantome has created a truly wonderful crew that continues to surprise me at every turn. Ari and his Val are going to need them going forward as a world of hurt and misunderstanding has seemed to creep its way into their lives for the time being.
I have faith that Fantome will bring out the big guns for Ari as he as determined to make Val’s reality a better one, with his own getting a much-needed face-life as well. Combined with what I hope is more of the passion and sexy trysts that had me needing a fan more than once, book two can’t get here fast enough.
A great start to this well-written and wildly entertaining first book of this duet, I can’t help but give What We Do in the Night a huge 5 stars!!
