Just five months ago, Valentine O’Dell started working at a very special kind of club – one where you can dance the night away, or live out your greatest fantasy. She’s learned to lose herself to her nights, forgetting all her day time woes as she charms every man she meets. It’s easy enough to do when she doesn’t let her feelings get involved. Then Ari Sharapov walked in and changed everything.… everything.
Working for his father’s law firm has left Ari with very little control over his life, so when he meets Valentine for the first time, he sees a girl who is desperate for someone to take care of her. To take over her. So what he can’t get for himself in the day time, he’ll simply take for himself at night. But when power struggles lead to real feelings, who’s actually controlling whom?
Some relationships are better left in the dark.

Something you need to know going in Ari Sharapov is a knob/idiot wrapped up in a sexy package. At times I wasn’t sure if I wanted to laugh or punch him. He’s rich and entitled, used to getting his own way and doesn’t like the word no. Valentine is my favourite character I so want to be hwe friend. Hard working determined and so much fun, her sense of humour made me love her so much. The storyline is unique and quirky and emotional. Loved the witty banter and the secondary characters add alot to the story. There is drama that leads to the ending that sets the reader up nicely for book two.

A CARNAL TWIST ON PRETTY WOMAN **4.5 explosive stars**
I lived and breathed these characters!!! Intense, erotic, explosive, rough, passionate, and all-consuming. Expecting the unexpected is more than half the fun of being swept into a heart-palpitating Stylo Fantome romance, but this one takes it to an entirely different level. What happens when fantasy and pretense are blindsided by real life, and who will break first when money, ambition, circumstances, and hearts get in the way? Conclusion: what we do in the fantasy of the dark is rarely what we do in the harsh reality of daylight when logic and obligation overtake dreams and emotion.
Stylo has put a scrumptiously carnal and deeply emotional twist on the Pretty Woman concept with a new take on sexual arrangement-for-hire between rich Ari and club escort Valentine. She’s his dream girl, and he’s her fantasy escape; but fantasies and promises are flawed in the light of day, and both are so carefully guarded that there’ll be no room for fantasy when it all blows up in their faces. I kept waiting for the boom and it was a big one. That cliffhanger sucked all the oxygen out of the room and September is too far away for the conclusion to this steamy duet.
This is the first part of a duet, and my goodness, this author knows how to weave a tale in such a way that I am completely hooked from the very beginning. Valentine and Ari are from totally different paths in life, and there were time I just wants to smack Ari on the head, the only consolation is that he had to work hard for Val. This is a dark tale, which is dark, emotional, and humorous, with drama, angst, witty banter, sizzling chemistry, intriguing plot, great compliment of secondary characters, and is a steamy and entertaining read. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and cannot wait to read the 2nd book!
Fate dealt her a rough hand, and all her life has been a battle to survive.
Now the sea is calming, as she settles into her routine.
By day she is a struggling student who juggles education, looking after her Gam and trying to pick up a bit of extra money as a bike messenger.
By night she is your fantasy. The girl you dream of surrounded by a rich and exotic location. Invite only folks! no riff raff!
To the outside world hes another silver spooned entitled alphahole.
In reality hes had to work to get to where he is now. His dreams have been shelved as his father rules the roost.
One night and his axis begins to shift. Theres a new dawn on the horizon full of promise and pleasure….
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!! It did NOT just end like that… *breathes* … *looks again* … ohh… it did..
AAAAUUUGGGHHHHH!!!!!!
What a way to leave me hanging! I need the next book already!!
I was so engrossed, lost in the story that I didnt actually realise the end was upon me. Talk about running into a brick wall hehe.
I’ve read a few books by Stylo and loved Church and Preach, thus I was dying to read this the minute I heard about it.
It’s completely different, seductive and sensual but it doesn’t seem to matter what genre she writes in. I fell in love with the story, swayed to the music in my head and joined in the fantasy.
Valentine the girl of two identities. The perfect granddaughter, diligent student and all over hard worker, versus the sexy kitten that comes out as the lights go down and the party begins. Shes amazing!!!
Ari is hiding in plain sight but behind high walls at the same time. To understand him is to see.. Really see. Then he becomes more than his arrogance he comes into his own as a magnificent and unique character.
This book will open your eyes to the darkness and encourage your imagination. You will see what you never thought possible.
I cant shout about this loud enough! It’s a book that you NEED to read it’s as simple as that!
If you’re a fan of the hot, controlling, dangerous alpha male, Stylo Fantôme gives you exactly what you want in this first book of a scorching new duet. Ari Sharapov is SCRUMPTIOUS. He knows what he wants (Valentine, if only for a limited time … or so he keeps telling himself), he knows what he doesn’t want (a relationship or any sort of commitment), and he makes it happen for himself. Not that he doesn’t make things happen for Valentine, if you know what I mean.
In Valentine, Ari finds a worthy companion in every sense. Yes, there is their sexual compatibility, but it’s more than that. She doesn’t accept his word as law. She stands her ground, both because she is not a woman who lets anyone boss her around but also because Ari has to earn her trust and acquiescence. It’s one thing to give him her body; it’s another to give him her true self.
I loved this book! I loved Ari’s dirty talk and I loved Valentine’s sharp retorts. I loved watching them fall for each other, fight it though they did. The cliffhanger is just heart-stopping enough to make you worry while at the same time giving you hope.
I can’t wait for the finale.
“You’re what I have been searching for.” ~ Ari
Valentine looks like sin and is working her hustle trying to take care of everything she needs to in her life. Working at Club Cache helps to pay her bills and occupy her time. She never expected to meet an “Ari”.
Ari a rich, polished, arrogant, privileged man who looks like a god. Ari wanted a reprieve from the stress of his work and found his distraction with Val.
The dynamic was interesting to watch unfold. Both so different, but deep down the same. It is as if they became different people at night then they were during the light of day. This was one of those books that I couldn’t put down.
What We Do in the Night is a fabulous introduction to Cache` and the employees who make the club work, including nonother than Valentine O’Dell your hostess that will entertain you for an additional fee. That is until she met Aaron (Ari) Sharapov, lawyer, who changed everything. If a deal is too good to be true, take heed and renegotiate, just remember it usually only benefits one person, the person with cash.
Some life lessons are better taught in the dark, but truly appreciated in the light of day! This reminds me of Alanis Morissette album, Jagged little pill, Hand in my pocket, Ironic, You Oughta Know! Damn can’t wait to see what happens next!
One thing is a constant in stylo’s books- Be Prepared to have your socks knocked off!!
O.M.G where did Ari Sharapov come from!! This man Is a vicious alpha hole and legit has no heart.
Downright rude, handsome as the devil, if there was a male version of a bitch, he’d be it. Talk about building fantasy and destroying it in the next breath, he cuts down people to size- just because! He has an acid tongue and I was so pissed at him, so many times. Wanted to bash his head
But for his magic peen and the fact that he could write the book- 1001 ways to make a woman squeal! Falling for him is easy, it’s holding his attention, is the toughest job on earth.
Which befalls upon sexy siren Valentine O’Dell. She works as an escorts in DelVecchio’s club Caché, shakes her booty and drives men wild!
“Possibly the gates to heaven, but more likely the entrance to hell.
It was like Willy Wonka’s factory, but for adults.”
Some really serious fun went on this Underground Wonderland and any and every type of fantasy could be fulfilled here.
I fell in love with sweet Val, whose alter ego -Saint Valentine was like a proverbial Eve for all the Adams, a dangling carrot.
“The Patron Saint of love & plague- two things that ever take a break”
This girl’s Mercury must be in retrograde, cause she never catches a break. So much is piled on her, I was feeling sad
What happens next is obvious and inevitable. A contacts signed, monies are exchanged. She gets the dough, he gets her Win-win.
Everything is fine and dandy till feelings decide to jump in and muddy the waters.
The writing is very cutting edge. Stylo has a flair for sharpness, she creates authoritarian heroes. It’s their way or highway. Like Wulfric Stone, Ari is very abrasive, tenacious and ambitious. His head rules the heart at ALL times. Very compartmentalised, his two brains never fight. Well…until Val
“You’re my … stress reliever. I could probably write you off on my taxes. You’re doing a job, and nothing more. I don’t want anything more, and you won’t get anything more.”
While reading it, I felt a strange sort of thrill. My senses were buzzing throughout, lots of electric chemistry which projected on to me as a reader. the story uniqueness lies not so much in the plot but more in the handling. Sizzle factor reaches its crescendo before emotions plummet and the contrast in the sentiments made me frustrated. Ari is in denial and he makes a habit of breaking Valentines heart.
” An Asshole and a whore; Match made in heaven”
Stylo writes it with lot of verve and nerve. Hot & witty in one breath and hurtful and slicing in the other, the dialogues are crisp and stabby. It ends on a soft cliffy and I CANNOT wait for the next book to know how much shall Ari’s knees hurt!
5 stars for a sinner and a saint
What an incredible start to a new duet by Ms. Fantome!
This is the story of Ari and Valentine. Both looking to lose themselves to the night. One looking to give up their control and responsibilities in their world. The other looking for the control they wished they had. Real world can be deceiving, but when the night comes, that’s when fantasy can become reality.
Ari is an arrogant man. He is abrupt and takes not prisoners in his world. But he is lacking something and hopes to find it with Valentine.
Valentine, oh this girl! She is brave, she is fearless but it’s because she has to be, not because she wants to be. She is fighting for survival in the day, and being the master of her universe at night.
The push and pull between Ari and Val is amazing to read! There is sparks aplenty when it comes to them and they are both so cautious to letting it become more.
Lies and deceits run amok in this story too, which I loved the angst of it. I applauded Valentine’s strength at the end to stay true to her beliefs.
This story ends on a cliffhanger, so of course I cannot wait to see what comes next! Will Ari embrace his true feelings, will he let his arrogance go? What’s to become of Valentines future? Gaaahhhh! I can’t wait!
This is an amazingly angsty story with so much left to unravel!
Stylo Fantome digs back into her erotica roots and has crafted an invigorating, captivating dark tale of two separate souls from walks of life that are so different and whose worlds collide into each other and completely combust. We see these two compliment each other with Fantome’s expected blend of playful banter, sass, passion and growth. This book was explosive and smoking hot and altogether amazing. I’m just blown away.
This story gave me goosebumps, from beginning to end. I was fully engaged with these two characters. I lived and breathed these characters. They were like magnets to one another. Intense, erotic, explosive, passionate and all consuming.
What We Do In The Night is sexy, passionate, with fiery banter making this a must read. Stylo Fantome does not disappoint when writing arrogant alpha’s paired spicy, sweet heroines. This story is filled with erotic passion, push and pull angst, sarcastic humour, and sexy sassiness. The plot line is unique, the characters are fantastically well developed and I found myself going back and re-reading parts because it’s just that damn good. I loved taking a walk on the wild side reading the talented words of this amazing writer. This book hails Fantome’s signature story telling stamp and promises to captivate and indeed entertain.
