Just one month ago, Valentine O’Dell got her heart ripped out – yet another problem to add to her rapidly growing list. Between fighting to bring her sick grandmother home, searching for a new apartment after being evicted, and trying to figure out how exactly she’s going to pay for everything, she doesn’t have time to cry over a broken heart. Then Ari Sharapov walks back in and tries to solve … to solve everything.
Ari may have gained a little more control in his life, but there’s still one area he doesn’t have a grip on – Valentine refuses to believe anything he says. Gone is the girl who wanted someone to take care of her, and in her place is a woman who’s willing to take everything he has to offer, but without giving anything of herself in return. He’s used to fighting battles in a courtroom, but convincing her of his feelings will be his biggest struggle yet.
Maybe it’s time for this relationship to be brought to light.

I’m behind in writing reviews, so this will be short and to the point…I enjoyed this one a lot. Not as much as book one though. I think overall it fell a little flat. I just didn’t feel the same chemistry or angst that the first book provided. However, Ari was a much more likable character in this one, and I felt he did enough for me to feel he was redeemed. Valentine got on my nerves a little in this one, she acted childish and overreacted over the smallish things. I liked the Gam Gam storyline though. Last, the ending was rushed, and I wanted more closure especially concerning Ari’s father. So ya, not perfect, but overall I enjoyed it.
I love this story! Ari and Val make me happy. Although sometimes through this book I wanted to smack both of them. Stylo rocked this book and it was sooo worth the wait. I just wanted more from them. I felt like there was so much going on and tension that I wanted them to have more time to just be. Definitely recommend this duet. It’s steamy, gritty, and just plain awesome!
“We’re both two idiots stumbling blindly in this piss poor excuse for a relationship.”
What We Do in the Light left me feeling conflicted and shocked; it didn’t reach similar heights or moments that made the same lasting effect as What We Do in the Night. It was such a lacklustre conclusion.
“Just believe in myself,” he sighed. “Just change my life and my goals and my dreams and slay every dragon in the land, all for Saint Valentine.”
“All for you,” she corrected him. “You’re nothing to anybody if you aren’t worth something to yourself.”
Val’s attitude is littered with tiresome self-centeredness, childish stubbornness and the continuous need to flee from uncomfortable but inevitable situations. Val started off with a sass-filled and fierce attitude, but her lack of awareness, close-mindedness and selfish reactions became bothersome—her insecurities would continually be projected onto others and rather than internally acknowledge her self-worth is dictated by herself, she blames everyone, specifically Ari. It’s unfortunate that she isn’t the same heroine we came to appreciate initially.
“You are literally the worst.” Ari smirked right back at her. “Whatever made you think I wasn’t?”
Ari’s characterisation didn’t have the same sweet charm. I don’t mind when authors don’t redeem asshole heroes—I mean, we fall in love with their asshole tendencies for reasons that’re oftentimes difficult to explain. I could sense the author creating convenient situations to make Ari’s changed attitude reasonable and suitable enough, essentially enforcing a drastic change to make the hero more likeable, I assume. He came across as too nice though and while grovelling scenes are fantastic, they aren’t so when they feel forced and unnatural.
Simultaneously, I had issues with scenes that were told to us rather than demonstrated. It made everything seem less exciting and appears to be a common occurrence with Stylo Fantome—the first installment is always brilliant; full of sexual tension, rife with intense chemistry and featuring the sassiest of characters before ending on the most fist-biting, teeth-clenching of cliffhangers. But the second installment seems to finalise the romance with the most rushed, un-thrilling conclusion ever. Sadly, it happened with What We Do in the Light.
4.5 HEA stars!!!
This is book two in the “Day to Night” series. It can not be read as a stand alone. This is Ari and Valentine’s conclusion.
Hopefully you have read the first book before reading this because I am in love with this couple and it happened long before this book. Ari is a ding dong sometimes and so damn hard headed but I have never waivered on how much I love him!! I do want to point out that Val is younger, and it shows. She is immature and I did want to reach out and smack her a few times.
There is so much more story with all these characters and I’m not sure if this was the end or there is more to come. I am sending up smoke signals that I really hope there are more books to come. Stylo is a wonderful author and I think I go into every book ready for my mind to be blown. This book was original and I devoured it. And like I said these are some really great characters.
I devoured this book in less then a day. If you are looking for a sexy rich man, young beautiful woman, fun, laughs, sex, despair, heart break, love, hope and so much more this is it!!!
**I received this book as an ARC and in return I gave my honest review **
This is the 2nd book in this duet, and a continuation of Ari and Val’s story. Val is left heartbroken and is working hard to move on with her life. Ari will do anything he has to in order to get Val back. No spoilers; this is one of those stories that is a definite must read! This is a beautifully written story which has me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend for all.
Oh, how this crazy couple had me tied up in knots! Ari groveling to get Val back … and Val finding the backbone not to be a pushover and just take him back. They were like Mars and Venus trying to communicate in this nail-biting conclusion, with plenty of angst and uncertainty to go around. She needs him to love her (not just want her) and he doesn’t know what love is … and that’s the least of their problems. It was mesmerizing to watch this pair fumble through their love journey and come out better for it; and just as satisfying to watch shake-ups in the romance that forced each other to “see” things about themselves that they’d been too blind to see. In the ‘light of day”, they don’t really know each other at all, and sex alone isn’t enough glue to hold them together. I loved how they finally find themselves individually (and together) in mutual support and believing in each other … the essence of true love.
They were real … raw … and desperate to get their lives right, if not their love and I loved them all the better for it. Especially Ari. How bad it might get before these MCs finally saw the light, if at all. All I can say is just dive into this fascinating conclusion to a unique and sexy love story that tugged at my heartstrings, and follow them on their enlightening journey.
The lights are on, and realisation dawns.
What has he done!
He’s everywhere yet she’s nowhere. Time isnt kind, it keeps on ticking but still he can’t get to her.
She’s fighting to keep her head above water, and her heart off her sleeve. It’s all such a struggle.
How much longer can she carry the weight of the world on her shoulders alone…
Eeeeeeeep!!!!! What a heart wrenchingly amazing emotional rollercoaster of a read!!
I fell in love with the first half of this duet “What we do in the night” upon its release, and I was left devastated by the ending!
I’m so glad that this is a direct continuation. Now my mind is at peace for all the answers are here!
The loss to both of their worlds was both profound and severely traumatic but denial is a wonderful thing or not in their case!
Shes a saint who puts the needs of others first and foremost, and sees more of them than of herself.
He’s a wolf who doesnt know how to be a sheep. Hes clueless and brutal but knightly too.
They are like chalk and cheese, fire and ice but the heat in their bodies and the desire in their eyes, oh me, oh my, it’s overwhelming yet mesmerising at the same time!
So much torture and temptation upon the pages. So many words to rev up your engine.. wow just wow!
Five stars isnt enough! This duet will steal your time, kidnap your heart and leave you breathless, but know one thing.. Ari the ex alphahole is mine!!
This is the second book in the Day to Night series. Ari and Valentine’s story continues in this second book. You must read the first book in the series, What we do in the night, before this one. The story is less captivating than the first book, but we get all the answers to conclude this story. Great Epilogue.
‘What We Do In The Light’ is the first book I have read by Stylo Fantome. I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review, and I found it an easy read, with lots of sweet moments that were ideal for any romance lover.
The book is about Valentine, a girl who works as an escort in a famous club Cache. Life is not easy for her, as she is broken up from Aaron Sharapov, a man she could have really fallen for, and is being investigated for neglect of her grandmother. But her job is the thing that enables Valentine’s luck to change.
When she is auctioned off in Cache, she does not expect Ari (Aaron) to be the bidder, and despite initially not being receptive to his advances, she can’t help but love that he is her knight in shining armour.
Ari is a lawyer for his father’s firm, he’s very much been told what to study, where to work and fantasises about his father one day retiring and the potential it could bring. He is captivated by Valentine, and tries his best to set the record straight and mend old wounds. He is determined and idolises her.
The book is entertaining, hot and a page turner. I read it as a stand-alone and didn’t feel like I was missing any of the drama and tension. But for the full picture, I’d certainly recommend the first book.
Stylo Fantôme is one of my favorite authors, but I am a tad conflicted about her newest release, What We Do In The Light (Day To Night #2) …Ahhh… Although, sparkles ignited fire and sensuality within the walls of Caché, I didn’t enjoy Val and Ari’s second book as much as I thought I would.
As Valentine and Ari try to sort out their problems, they struggle to understand each other. Communicating is difficult, and the fear to get hurt once again adds new trust issues.
Though not perfect (and thinking of it, certainly because they are hot perfect), both Val and Ari touched me. Their doubts and their pain felt real.
However, the fact that Valentine kept giving lessons to Ari, and made reproaches upon reproaches, created a suffocating and negative atmosphere that made appear their relationship more toxic than uplifting. On the other hand, I found Ari very sweet, and charming. His determination to get Val back felt heart-warming.
The storyline, based on that bittersweet pull and push game, somehow lacked the thrill I would have loved to read, and unfortunately the conclusion to this series felt anticlimactic.
I have been anxiously awaiting the conclusion to Ari and Val’s story, and while I enjoyed it, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I did the first book in this duet. Their relationship in that one was playful, exciting, steamy and fun. At least until the end, when Val overheard a conversation about her between Ari and his dad. Deeply upset by what she had heard, she took off and ran for the hills.
Their breakup was full of heartache and pain that I wasn’t sure either could come back from. But Ari was a mess without her and went to great lengths in order to win her back. To show her that he hadn’t meant a word of what he said to his dad. That yes he may be an ass, but that deep down he was a great guy and cared for her deeply. And we know that she loves him too, but she fights him tooth and nail in his attempts to get her back. Although I understood her reasoning, she frustrated me to no end. So while I was happy to see them finally get their HEA, it was a very frustrating journey in getting to that point. There were a lot of fights, stubbornness, insecurity, miscommunication and heartache on both ends.
All in all, I thought this was an enjoyable read, but What We Do in the Night set the bar high, and this one didn’t quite live up to that. In this one, Val and Ari spent most of their time apart and struggling through their issues. There was definitely a change of pace from the first book that some readers may find disappointing. Then again, maybe it’s just me. You will just have to give it a read and find out for yourself. But in no way am I criticizing this author’s work. She will always be a one-click author for me. What We Do in the Light just fell a little flat. So yeah, I didn’t love it, but overall enjoyed it.
This is s the second book in duet. I couldn’t wait to read this book. I’ve been waiting and wanting to find out what will happen next. In this book we see what Ari would do to get Valentine back in his life.
The book didn’t disappoint but I did feel the ending was rushed in my opinion. Other than that I was happy with the book.
What We Do in the Light by Stylo Fantôme is book Two in the Day to Night Series. This continues the story of Ari Sharapov and Valentine O’Dell, so you really should read the previous book ‘What We Do in the Night’ first before starting this one.
This book picks up a little while later where Valentine is trying to take charge of her life but she has her grandmother to take care of and of course herself. Ari keeps trying to re-enter her life after she over heard him speaking harshly of her to his father. Although Valentine felt most of that it added to her pain to have him say such things. Their was work for them both to do and get past before things fell into place.

Finally, the wait is over!!!
So, did Ari redeemed himself?
Mmmmm you’ll have to read the book to know it!
Seriously, after all the events in Book 1, the “road to redemption” for Ari wouldn’t be easy, and hewould have to prove a lot of things to his Valentine.
But despite some aspects of the story, I really enjoyed this book, basically because, like Ari and Val, things may not be perfect, but together, they made each other better.
Ari and Val are really passionate… and obstinate, so fights and visceral reactions are meant to be expected, but in the end, they learn how to deal, work things out and move on, stronger than ever. As a couple, and individually, embracing their own personality and aspirations.
I may have needed a little more closure, but now that I closed the book, I believe the story ended in a very realistic way.
Great read!

What We Do In The Light by Stylo Fantome was a delicious story of intense passion and heart wrecking emotions. This story sucked me right in with the author’s brilliant storytelling.
This duet is an unlikely love story between a rich lawyer oozing power and wealth and a woman working in the most exclusive night club of the city. Ari Sharapov is an enigma. I am so much obsessed with him! He can be really arrogant, cocky and egomaniac jerk. But god help me ,I am enticed by his bossy, controlling and dominating way. He is so stubborn to do everything in his ways that he cannot even see he is hurting Valentina. He is a perfect mix of right and wrong. You will want to hit him sometimes and cannot help but melt and swoon sometimes. And Valentina is his perfect counter part. This woman impressed me even more in this book. She has everything working against her but she is so strong. Strong enough to let Ari go so that he can be a better man for himself.
The chemistry between Ari and Valentina is the most intense, beautiful and sexy thing ever. They do everything in this crazy excess. Heartbreak. Angst. Sex. Love. Everything is in technicolor glory between them. They hurt each other like they cannot survive without each other. And the love like they are trying to kill. The writing is just mindblowing.
I savoured each moment of What We Do In The Light by Stylo Fantome. An unforgettable and exquisite love story!
Received ARC for Honest review
4.5 stars for this second part of Val and Ari’s turbulent story. With huge character development taking place, both Ari and Val dig deep to find their truths, even though, in Ari’s case, it is with some very emotional prompting!
The family of Cache and the friendship of Bee, are all crucial to Val’s well being, who begins to realise that she is not as alone as she feels herself to be.
I love both Val and Ari and was very happy to spend time with them again, though their travails made life difficult, often to their own detriment! This made the book quite different from What we do in the Night, but then I did feel this was going to be needed in order to bring everything into the Light. As a result, the book didn’t have the decadent, heady feel of book 1, but this did not mean I enjoyed it any less. In fact I loved it.
Let me start by saying that this is the second part of a duet. What We Do In The Night must be read first. The first part was amazing so this is why I’m having a difficult time to formulate a review.
The second part fell short because first of all the characters felt different. Meaning they were immature and dramatic. Maybe because part 1 came a few months ago and I loss the spark? There was nothing that kept me intrigued, it felt like this storyline was written many times over by many different authors.
Maybe if the readers read them now that both parts are out they will get a different experience then I had. I had to reread the last few chapters of book 1 in order to get back in the swing of things. Even then I didn’t connect.
What We Do in the Light is book 2 in Day to Night duet by Stylo Fantôme.
Book 1 ended with a huge cliffhanger, with Valentine overhearing Ari speaking to his father, calling Val a not so nice word, which deep down Valentine believed herself to be but she truly wasn’t. After hearing this conversation between Ari and his dad, she was really offended and ran off. Things ended between them…book 2 picks up where book 1 ended on that epic cliffhanger.
Valentine’s life has undergone massive upheaval- she is trying to keep everything together all while missing that man..Ari.
Ari hasn’t been himself since Valentine has left his life. He knows they’re fantastic together and he vows to prove to her how good they are together and to give him a 2nd chance. That is, if he can get her to listen to him ever again….
This story has the angst, the miscommunication, the drama, the heartbreak, the feels that make this a good read..what is missing is the deep passion and heat that was there in book 1. At times this story seemed a bit rushed in places. I liked this story but would have liked for the epilogue to not to be rushed. Loved the characters of Ari and Valentine- the chemistry is there but just needed alittle more steam and romance, less rushedness and would have been a smoother read.
My Rating: 4.3 stars *****
Valentine O’Dell’s life has turned upside down since she met Aaron “Ari” Sharapov and not necessarily in a good way. She thought he could be the one but their differences soon proved to be to much for Valentine and she splits with him after hearing a conversation he had with his father. Yet life throws her another curveball with her grandma and soon Valentine feels like she is in over her head once again.
Ari Sharapov has never known love until he met Valentine and he will do anything he can to show her how much he truly loves her and will be there for her. Yet earning her trust back is a lot harder than he could have imagined but he knows he must do what he can.
Can Valentine find a way to forgive Ari and let him explain or will she retreat when life gets too hard and she feels like she or Ari has to choose the life they want to lead?
This was a great conclusion to the first book and I loved all of the surprises but a few parts definitely broke my heart.
I loved Valentine but I really wished she had given Ari a chance to explain as I knew how much he loved her and believed that the comment was not said for the reason she thought. I absolutely hated what happened with her grandma and one thing that really angered me was that there was no proof at all. Valentine was determined to do whatever it took to get things the way they should be and buried herself in her work while she tried to figure it all out.
Ari worked his way into my heart in the first book and I knew the comment was taken out of context so I knew he really needed a way to explain everything to Valentine when she wasn’t having anything to do with him. I loved the amount of money he had to spend to do so and I do think it showed he was determined to get Valentine to talk to him.
I loved what Ari did for Valentine with her grandma and I think it showed how much he does care about her. I was super proud of him and hoped it helped Valentine and her case! Yet there were other things going wrong for Valentine as well and I thought that it was likely the same person was behind it all.
I loved the photo booth scene and I was very happy that things were moving in the right direction! I still hated that Harper was still trying to get in there and cause problems between Ari and Valentine as Ari kept telling her to back off.
I was so proud of Ari towards the end for his actions at work and how he risked so much for doing it but never really gave it a second thought. I crossed my fingers that it was enough for Valentine and I was so happy that it was. I loved how Ari pushed Valentine into a different job and how much she loved it!
The end was great and hopefully we get something with Bailey or Evans next!
Heartbreaking, funny, sweet and angsty What We Do in the Light wrapped up this duet perfectly. Ari and Valentine kept me hooked with their banter, had me laughing out loud one moment and then groaning in frustration the next. Both had inner demons that each had to deal with as well as misunderstandings that tore them apart. I enjoyed the development both characters underwent when life threw them curveballs they didn’t expect. Gam Gam stole a piece of my heart and I loved the extra layer of emotion she brought to their story. The overall feel for this book was quite different from the first but I loved how the author took real life and wove so much emotion to Ari and Val’s story. I’m hoping this won’t be the last we see of Club Cache.
