4.5 Stars****Mason Parker has always been unique, and, although she usually hides her true feelings, when she meets Justin Broadstone, he sees her for who she really is. As Mason does her best to ignore her sister’s jealousy and her family’s animus toward Justin, when her sister’s actions cause dissension within the family, Mason has to wonder if Justin is the only one who truly has her back?
This is a more complex love story, but that’s only to be expected since Mason is a more complex character. We’ve gotten to know the other Parker sisters pretty well in the previous stories, but this one gives us greater insight into the two youngest, and it’s not always a pretty picture. Mason’s story is a bumpy one, filled with a lot of family drama, troubles at school, the start of a young love, and how it all can affect one’s life choices. But the journey for Mason and Justin is just beginning, and it promises to be a trip worth taking.
This book is an excellent, enjoyable, entertaining read with great characters and romance.
Highly recommend.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I loved this book about Mason, another Parker sister. She meets the gorgeous Justin at a rodeo, where she should not be. But her sister Scarlett dragged her there. Scarlett is dressed in her usual way doing everything she can to attract men. And she is very much wants Justin. But when he sees Mason in the crowd, he is mesmerised and follows her as she is leaving. Of course Scarlett hates Mason for this and causes so much trouble for Mason that she cannot take it anymore. Fabulous story and that Scarlett sure is a bitch.
OMG! This was quite a tearjerker! The romance in Ms. Eckhart’s books are always sweet and this was no exception. What was different was the explosion in the sisters’ relationships with each other. It affected the entire family and was heartbreaking. It also opened up some questions as to the parent’s relationships with their own siblings, which I hope means that we’re going to hear more from them soon. Absolutely wonderful addition to the series and I can’t wait to read more.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is a review of the audiobook,

What We Can’t Have is the fourth book in the Parker Sisters series. You could probably read this without reading the others first, but I think you’ll enjoy them more if you read the series in order.
Once again, Teri Clark Linden has given another fantastic performance. She really does a wonderful job and made listening to this story captivating. I’m really picky about female narrators and she is one of the good ones.
This story is about Mason, the youngest Parker sister. She’s the smart one and has enough credits to finish high school early; a fact that she’s kept from her family. Her sister Scarlett has been horrible to her lately, especially after a man Scarlett was interested in shows an interest in seventeen-year-old Mason.
Justin rides broncs in the rodeo and when he sees Mason and Scarlett together watching him ride, he only has eyes for Mason. Mason and Justin soon find out that they are neighbors and that there is bad blood between their families; Justin’s dad wants to buy the land that Mason’s family owns.
I don’t want to give too much of the story away but there is a lot of hostility in this one as differences between Mason, Scarlett and the rest of the Parkers escalate. Justin is firmly in Mason’s corner but the way he and Mason handle things definitely didn’t help keep harmony in the family.
This story has a HFN (happy for now) but I hope we hear more from Mason and Justin in the remaining books in this series.
A copy of this audiobook was provided to me at no cost but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
Loved it. Reminds me of High School love. Some grow up at that age. Can’t wait to read more on this couple.
