Unforgettable time travel love story! This novel was spellbinding! It grabbed me from page one and wouldn’t let me go. Fantastic writing. Impeccable historical detail. Memorable characters. Unforgettable story. A must read for fans of time travel romance.
My new favorite book. This poetic and beautifully written book is a wonderful combination of historical fiction, romance, and intrigue with a time travel twist. Is has emotional depth, and deep family connections across time, without being sappy. I love the Irish setting and the characters. It is especially beautiful and lyrical on audio.
What the Wind Knows by Amy Harmon captivated me from the beginning and swept me up and delivered me into an adventure I never wanted to end. The characters are so compelling, but no more so than the intriguing story — I fell in love with we each well developed character, the story and Ireland. Brilliant! I am a heart-full fan of Amy Harmon! I highly recommend this book and Amy Harmon.
I loved the historical features interwoven with the time travel I also loved the three characters Anne, Thomas, and Michael
I loved this book! One of my favorites.
I LOVE this book. The time travel part, of course, is so intriguing, but I love that it takes you back to a real time in history and brings it alive. I got so invested in the characters that it makes me want to learn more about history too. Fabulous book! I devoured it in just a few days. I’m actually sad that I’ve finished it.
How am I just reading Amy Harmon????
This story was everything….it is not your typical romance, there is history, love, drama, mystery and so much more.
I found myself reaching for google to look information up. I highly recommend.
5 Stars A magical love story steeped in Irish history and played out by traveling through time. I think my favorite characters were the old man & little boy who share the same name. A poignant adventure.
This was an awesome time travel book. I absolutely loved it! This book lingered with me a long time! I wish I could find another like it! Do read it!
“What the Wind Knows” by Amy Harmon is such a magical story! It is always difficult for me to write a review of such talented authors. I do not have the talent or the eloquence to put words to my emotions. I wanted to read this book straight through but often I just had to put the book down to deal with the depth of the events and passions of the novel. From the beginning, I felt as if I was sitting by the fire on a winter’s night during a blizzard, wrapped up in a down-filled comforter, and listening to the story. My favorite authors have that ability and another one has just been added to the shortlist. The story is a fantasy and it is well worth the read because of that fact.
Time-travel novels are not always my thing, but Amy Harman did an amazing job with this story! I loved the blend of Ireland, past and present, and the way that she seamlessly weaved in the lives of characters a hundred years apart. The romance was perfect & Thomas was totally swoon worthy! Highly recommend!
Major cover love for this book, beautiful cover, also love the title of this book. Amy Harmon has become one of my favorite authors, love her writing style and “What the Wind Knows” did not disappoint. It’s a beautiful unique time travel romance, I was blown away, this was an amazing read. It’s such a sad and beautiful story.
Anne is a famous author in the year 2001, after Anne’s beloved Grandfather Eoin passes, Anne fulfills her Grandfather’s wish and takes him back to Ireland to spread his ashes. As Anne goes to spread her grandfather’s ashes something strange happens and she travels to the 1920’s. I loved the way Amy connected the past and present, it all comes together and make sense.
Anne and Thomas are definitely on my list of favorite book couples. I love the Irish history in the book, learned a lot about what the Irish people were going through during that time. Amy definitely did her research. This is a definite must-read, truly amazing story about love, history, and family. This book gave me all the feels. It has everything that makes a great story.
I was immediately drawn into this well crafted emotional story that swirls Owen’s, Anne’s, and Thomas’s pasts and futures together. I enjoyed learning of Ireland’s struggle for freedom while Anne fought to remain with those she loved. This historical romance is perfect for cold winter days cuddled by the fireplace with a warm beverage. The audiobook is excellent.
Such a beautiful book. Stunning!! I started this as an ebook and ended it as an audiobook. I loved the history, feeling like I traveled through time with Anne. So complicated and crazy. I liked the reading of Thomas’ journal.
Anne Gallagher lost her grandpa, who basically raised her. His wish is his ashes to be spread over a loch in Ireland where he grew up. Ann is a famous author and loves WB Yeats and each chapter starts with a quote of his.
Ann rents a boat to do into the loch but it’s foggy then someone shots at her and next thing she knows, she’s transported from 2001 to 1921. She’s mistaken for someone else and she tries to remember the history of Ireland as they fight for their independence.
At times I felt like it was predictable at time but then I never knew who it would end- even at the end with only a few pages left!! The narrator did a great job on the voices. This was a great historical fiction/ time travel/magical realism romance and the mythology of Ireland and what the wind knows.
Another fabulous book by Amy Harmon. She really does her research. I loved being whisked away to 1920s Ireland and I learned a lot about the time period and of Michael Collins. This was a bit Outlander-esque in a similar time-travel vein, but so so different. I loved the first person POV of Anne and hearing Thomas’s voice in his letters. I listened on Audible. Amazing narrators. The story had twists, turns, heartache, and wow, she tied it up so nicely at the end. Wonderful story. I did not think I would love a book more than her The First Girl Child, but I think I did! So good! Beautiful prose, dialogue, and amazing world-building. Highly recommend.
The premise of this book was fascinating. I loved the main character and her actions and reactions were very believable. The ending was satisfying, yet I hated for the book to end.
Loved it!
1/2 Stars
Anne, a fiction writer, travels to Dromahair, Ireland to see where her grandfather, Eoin, came from and what family heritage she can discover. Anne uncovers more than mere history; she steps into it.
A man from her past captures her heart, and they are drawn together like windmills to the wind, turning and blending together, despite what blows them apart.
Rich in Ireland’s power struggle, the story unfolds amidst historical characters like Michael Collins, a leader in the IRA. Suspicions arise, and some folks in the town love Anne, while others don’t trust her.
The mysterious lough (lake), shrouded in mist, holds secrets that both mend Anne’s heart and rend it in two.
Harmon helped me step into the shoes of the characters of Anne, Eoin, and Thomas by relaying such tangible and real voices filled with gems of wisdom like—
“None of us are the same, Anne. Some days I hardly recognize myself in the mirror. It’s not my face that has changed; it’s the way I see the world. I’ve seen things that have permanently altered me. I’ve done things that have distorted my vision. I’ve crossed lines and tried to find them again, only to discover that all my lines have disappeared. And without lines, everything blurs together.”
As a reader, be prepared to be shocked, swoon, tear up, and be in love with this wonderful, detailed story of What the Wind Knows.
for plot, Fantastic!
for author voice, style, and POV
1/2 for the amount of history
I speed read through some of the weighty segments of Ireland’s clashing power struggle. The amount of detail was a little too much to hold my interest in parts.
All in all, I recommend What the Wind Knows as a fantastic book and will definitely read another title by Amy Harmon!
I was mesmerized and completely absorbed into Anne Gallagher’s world. Once she entered the fog, I knew something special was in store!
I loved everything about this book! The characters were unforgettable, and the ending stayed with me long after I finished the story. Until I read this book,
