A reoccurring dream. A fated encounter. A destiny neither can deny.
Heaven Lewis needed a break—from college, relationships, and her life. After arriving in L.A., her vacation plans are thwarted by chaos. Encountering a celebrity wasn’t on her to-do list. Neither was dating him. Yet one glance into rock-star Dylan McBride’s eyes and his soul speaks to hers.
If Dylan told Heaven he had been … told Heaven he had been dreaming of her for years, she would probably think he was nuts. Still, something about her awakens a desire in him he never knew existed. As much as he craves her, he can’t deny the mysterious connection between them that somehow allows him to sense her emotions.
As the bond between them deepens, Dylan uncovers a shocking secret that threatens everything he thought he knew. Can he find the courage to tell Heaven the truth? Or will looming threats and hidden dangers tear the two apart?

This is the first book I’ve read from this author and i enjoyed it!
I liked the aspect of dreaming of your soulmate before you meet them. The story was a bit slow to start with but it got better the more into the story I read.
This contains drama, Love, Action. The love scenes can get steamy.
Can’t wait for the next one
Wow, can I just say that this book surprised in the best of ways. It’s has a contemporary feel yet it’s actually paranormal, and I liked the different element of paranormal. I liked that the story builds as you read. Heaven and her sisters are amazing characters and I loved the dynamics of the group as a whole. I was intrigued of the connection between heaven and Dylan, that by the end of the book I felt such awe at how Kelli has created the storyline. I liked the pace of this book, giving us time to watch and experience the relationships form. I have lots of questions and I’m excited to see where this story goes. That ending had me smiling with heaven and Dylan… But also highly anticipating the next book! Once I started and got into the story, I was hooked! What a beautiful story of true love and soulmates! I want the next book so badly! If you live paranormal romance but want something different, this is definitely the book for you!
What an amazing first book to this series. It was sweet and nerve wracking and crazy all at the same time. I love every bit of it. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I also can’t wait to see what is up with the electricity and also what is Layne to Heaven? I need answers!
While this isn’t the typical paranormal romance I read, this book was great. If you love reading about romance and soul mates this book is a definite must read. Dylan and Heaven have been dreaming of each other since they can remember but they have never met until she flies out to L.A. for her best friends wedding. Lots of obstacles stand in the way of their developing relationship, including them both sharing about their dreams without coming off as crazy. Once it is all out in the open their bond changes. I can’t wait to read the next book!
So yeah I couldn’t get past the first few chapters I felt I’d watched or read something like this before
The names made me cringe at the symbolism and given the length of it I decided to drop it
On the writing however it was well done just couldn’t suspend my disbelief

It was interesting to see the love of souls who know each other or are known to know each other.
I had some difficulties at times but it was probably just me.
It was a good romantic read.

Highly entertaining, sexy, fun and action packed adventure filled with danger, excitement and engaging witty charters, heart racing twists and emotionally thrilling passion. A great read from beginning to end.
What the Heart Wants is a paranormal romance between two soulmates. Heaven and Dylan have been dreaming about each other for a while so when they finally run into each other the story takes an interesting turn. The writing is well done and the characters are likable and I was cheering for them to get their HEA.
A sweet psychic romance…it seems. But it so much more. There’s more than one twist in this story and that’s just the beginning.
I just need to read the second book and find out more.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
The first book in the Soulmate series a well written story, but it does end on a cliff-hanger. Heaven Lewis and Dylan McBride’s story mainly, but who is the person that wants her? I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the first book in a series that I’m seriously anticipating reading more of. The story so far is about two people who have had a connection since they were born but honestly never met until 21 years later at their best friend’s wedding. Both feel the connection while Dylan doesn’t want to fight it, Heaven fights it tooth and nail without understanding that Dylan has been the man of her dreams for her entire life.
This is a good paced book where there is a slow burn, action, betrayal, and a love that burns so deep that nothing can truly fight it.
This is a great paranormal romance story full of great characters and action. I really enjoyed reading this book and didn’t want to put it down. I can’t wait for the next one.

What a great start to this new and interesting read. We all like thinking that if we dream of someone out there that is meant just for us. Well here that actually does come true.
So the story follows along with Heaven and Dylan who they have been dreaming about each other. They have felt, in their dreams, so drawn, and a deep connection with. But it is all dreams right? Well maybe not. What happens when they meet one day?
So I have to say this was so interesting. The chemistry between them was addicting. These two were made for each other, and seeing that connection unfold was satisfying. The pace was good, the characters are interesting and the plot well enough to keep me interested. Overall, this is a great first book in this series and I cannot wait for more.
I liked this romance story with a hint of the paranormal. Its the story of Heaven and how she meets Dylan and the issues they have getting together. The main characters in the story were a hoot, especially Heaven and her sisters. Add in a hint of suspense/mystery and get a fun feel good story where not everything is what you think it is. But it did keep me reading to see ho wit would end and how Heaven and Dylan would find out each others secrets. A nice story that will keep me reading the series to see what happens next.
This book was a pretty good read. The plot was different but good, the characters were relatable, and the storyline played out in a way that kept you entranced. Looking forward to more from this author.

What the Heart Wants is the first book in Kelli McCracken’s Soulmate series. The author introduces readers to Heaven and Dylan. These two characters are fated soulmates. They are meant together, but of course, they have to make that choice. They have been dreaming of each other for months, but at the same time they think…these are just dreams right? This person I’m dreaming of doesn’t really exist. But when they finally cross paths…what will happen next? Will they take a leap of faith to be together?
When I first picked up What the Heart Wants I thought that this book would have some supernatural/paranormal element to it based on the cover, but like the old saying goes…”don’t judge a book by its cover.” This book reads more like a regular romance with some psychic elements written into it here and there with the two main characters having a connection that spans their lives, some of it being remembered and connections being established from dreams, and then others forgotten.
This book alternates back and forth between Heaven and Dylan mostly. The author gives readers other characters – Heaven’s sisters: Faith, Hope and her best friend Brooke, and Dylan’s bandmates – Scott, Layne, and his best friend Kyle. I find the dynamics between the sisters to be interesting. They are all the same age, but their personalities and mannerisms are so dynamically different. I couldn’t help but raise my eyebrows…quite often at Faith especially. When the girls meet the guys it seems like her and Layne should be a perfect match for each other. LOL! But of course the author throws a curveball with how things end up going.
The romance starts out a bit as – will they, they won’t they. It is a bit of a slow burn but when things get going they get going. Things move quickly in this book to be honest. The time literally flies as the author focuses on the developing relationship between Dylan and Heaven, but always comes back to bring the other characters in to show that there might be some kinks/hiccups further on down the line. I have to say that I like that there is more than one “devil” in this book as well. It keeps the reader from focusing too much on one character in the event that one does…”disappear.”
My only real issue with this book is the switching between the characters. I don’t mind that the author moves between Heaven and Dylan, but I think that it would have been a good idea to identify when the changes are going to happen since it usually happens with each alternating chapter. Plus, there are moments of where Layne gets the spotlight, but you never really know who the particular focus is until you have read a ways into the chapter usually. I was disappointed a bit that the cover hints at paranormal elements, but that really doesn’t make an appearance.
I am rating this book 4 out of 5 stars. There are some psychic elements in this book with the connection between Heaven and Dylan. I like that we get to see this connection between the characters that they both feel it and that it is a focus in the story. Things move pretty quickly, but the author does leave questions about certain characters and ends the book on a bit of a cliffhanger. While it took me a bit to get into this book, I have to admit that I am looking forward to what the author has in book two.
OMG I love a good epic romance and this is a great one! It’s a well written story of love, destiny, connections, a slow burn chemistry as well as secrets, threats and danger! Great storyline, fab characters and a little mystery and you will not be able to put this feel good romance down!
What a great story! The author did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life. Great paranormal read.I highly recommend this book. Five stars from me.
To me, this was a 3,5-star read.
The story is great and the characters likable and easy to follow. Whether or not it belongs in the paranormal section is yet to be proven to me.
What threw me off, was the 3rd person POV. It prooved to intricate to follow when the chapters changed between the characters. One chapter follows Heaven, the next Dylan and some are written to follow some of their friends.
When I thought the book was finished, there are a few added pages, that actually leaves this as a cliffhanger. I’m not sure how well I liked that.
Having a soulmate is beautiful, but can also bring a lot of trouble.
Dylan has been dreaming of his angel basically his whole life. Now, meeting Heaven at his friend’s wedding, his dream girl became true. The pull is undeniable, but will she feel the same? Accept him? For Heaven, who has two sisters with completely different personalities and attitude than her, and bad experience with relationships, isn’t opening up easy. But she can’t deny the bond either.
Reading the blurb and seeing the cover, I got really intrigued, hoping for a great paranormal read with interesting romantic twist. Let’s just say, I got something else than expected.
First off, there is very little paranormal involved. Aside from the soulmate bond, which is pictured very nicely and thought through (but forming a little later than I’d like to), and some hints at possible powers the MMC may possess, it is basically a sweet contemporary romance. Which, I had to admit, is not really my thing. The paranormal aspect would have balanced it at least partially off, but that aspect was unfortunately very light and not satisfying.
Second, I find the cover also quite misleading. You see the woman that fits Heaven’s description, and two guys presumably being Dylan and Layne, which might imply a love triangle or some other romantic trouble involving two men fighting for one woman, but this is also not the case. Sure, there are again some hints Layne is interested in Heaven, too, but he does not act that way at all, maybe in the two or so arguments with Dylan that are not direct and don’t end up in anything. It is a possibility that could have spiced up the story but is unfortunately lacking there. For me the storyline was a clean romance between a couple of soulmates, with some trouble along the way of fully forming the bond, and that’s it. Frankly, I found it also quite predictable and a little boring in the end.
Last point on my list of issues is the way the story was paced. I got into it only slowly, found it lagging in places, and was tempted to skip ahead on occasion. Could have been that I was waiting for something more that did not come and is related to the previous two points, though.
I certainly liked the characters, some of them more than others. I definitely loved Dylan’s mom, her attitude and wisdom, and her guidance and support for her son. I enjoyed watching the differences among the triplets, developing the relationships between the couples, the steamy moments between the main characters, and even Zeke’s interventions – made it more interesting. The whole soul bond is a great element, the way it developed over time and involved dreams of both main characters is really nice, and brought some moments that made the heart beat faster. Sadly, despite all of these great aspects, there were too many shortcomings to rate the book better.
