A reoccurring dream. A fated encounter. A destiny neither can deny.
Heaven Lewis needed a break—from college, relationships, and her life. After arriving in L.A., her vacation plans are thwarted by chaos. Encountering a celebrity wasn’t on her to-do list. Neither was dating him. Yet one glance into rock-star Dylan McBride’s eyes and his soul speaks to hers.
If Dylan told Heaven he had been … told Heaven he had been dreaming of her for years, she would probably think he was nuts. Still, something about her awakens a desire in him he never knew existed. As much as he craves her, he can’t deny the mysterious connection between them that somehow allows him to sense her emotions.
As the bond between them deepens, Dylan uncovers a shocking secret that threatens everything he thought he knew. Can he find the courage to tell Heaven the truth? Or will looming threats and hidden dangers tear the two apart?

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and it probably won’t be my last. After a little bit of a slow start, the book picks up quite a bit. The characters are quite good, too. There isn’t much suspense or paranormal (other than a little empath/psychic/soulmate) to this one, just to give you a head’s up, but there is lots of good romance. The romance is sweet and touching, and you really root for them to get together. I also loved the story of how they became soulmates. It was very touching and lovely. If you are into a sweet romance, this will be right up your alley. Warning: may have rape triggers. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
I have been provided with a copy of What the Heart Wants by the author for an impartial review. This is the first book in the new Soulmate series and it was just a great way to start off a new series. I had fun getting to enter this new world and meet these new characters. I wish there had been some clarification on the different characters point of views. It just got a bit confusing at times trying to see whose point of view we were currently viewing especially when it changed in the middle of a chapter. Other than that I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to see what happens next with this series.
Wow, this book had me hooked from the beginning. I love a soulmate story. Dylan has been dreaming of his soulmate for years, only to meet her at his friends wedding. Heaven isn’t looking for a relationship after her last one ended in disaster, but she just can’t ignore the pull to Dylan.
I loved the different view points in this book, it really helped me understand what the characters were thinking.
There are clearly several people who don’t want Dylan and Heaven together, and although they clearly deserve their happy ending I think their story may become a little harder with time.
This was an interesting read. I love the characters of Heaven and Dylan. They were destined to be together and don’t let anything get in there way for them to be together. There are some absolutely sweet moments in this book and I am a sucker for a good paranormal romance and this is a good one. Heaven is aptly named because Dylan sees her as an angel in his dreams. I am interested to see what happens next.
I really enjoyed reading about Haven and Dylan i cant wait to read more
Started the reader on an exciting and emotional journey
Heaven, a college student, is told she will be paired with Dylan, a rock star, for her best friends wedding. As the story progresses a sense of familiarity is instant, their connection cannot be denied, and trying to protect may have the opposite reaction if the truth is not shared. Kelli McCracken has started the reader on an exciting and emotional journey in What the Heart Wants. Each character has faults and flaws that will either endear them to the reader or make the reader wish for karma to pay them a visit. The book lays the groundwork of their relationship and for a number of conflicts yet to come and ends in a cliff hanger. Reader discretion advised due to dark subject matter and/or possible triggers.
I read this book with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
This a contemporary kind of romance with some slight triggers to it. But nothing too graphic. I really enjoyed it. It starts a bit slow as the story gets going but all the characters are extremely well developed and relatable. I especially like Dylan’s Mother as she is quite quirky. I hope we read more about her in the next books. There is a lot of good build up between Dylan and Heaven and a lot of questions about Layne and Faith. I really like Layne a lot. Hopefully he will get some kind of happy ending somewhere too.
I’m not sure if I would have picked up this book if I hadn’t been given an ARC, however the concept did sound interesting so I was quite curious where this would go. So when I finished my book for the N.E.W.T.’s for today I gave this one a go.
But I have to admit that this was not my kind of story. The concept is still intriguing and interesting. However the interesting aspects play a very small role in the whole. Too small for me. I would have loved a little more paranormal elements and a little less teenage love drama. Especially because a lot of problems and issues could have been prevented if the characters had just talked with each other.
It’s very clearly a case where the issue is a personal issue and not so much an issue with the book itself. The story is well written with a lot of focus on the emotions and individual characters. We get to know Dylan and Heaven very well and the important pieces of the puzzle fall into place quite nicely. And if you don’t read the last paragraph, it works very well as a stand alone too.
I can imagine that in the next books the supernatural aspect might be a little more prominent, but I also have the feeling that the love drama will increase and continue too. If you’re into well written and emotional teenage love drama you’ll surely enjoy this book. I will however not continue this series. For personal reasons, not because it’s bad.
Imagine waking every morning from the most realistic dreams ever. So real you’ve no clue they were just dreams until moments after waking. Dylan has most peoples dream life being a well known star in a rock band. Yet he yearns for this mystery woman he dreams of nightly. Why can’t she be real instead of a figment of his mind? In his waking hours her scent, the sound of her voice, and other aspects haunt him. Little did he know he’s not alone in this. Two people haunted by dreams are about to experience their dreams during their waking moments when a friends wedding unexpectedly unite them. Why the dreams? Why do they each feel such an incredible pull to each other that its ruined romantic relationships in their real lives? Something almost supernatural seems to be pointing them toward one another. Enjoy the journey as pieces to the puzzle are revealed, and they attempt to dodge hurdles thrust in their path. There definitely seems to be far more to this than meets the eye. Will they make it, or let fear stand in the way? An exciting first book in this series. Minor triggers so beware, but its oh so worth the read! I for one can’t wait to read book two!!!
