It was supposed to be the perfect getaway, but a knock at the door could ruin their lives. “Mesmerizing. A captivating page-turner about fear, loss, and the ties that bind. This is O’Brien at her finest.” – Meghan O’Flynn, bestselling author of The Ash Park Series After her recent separation, Tabitha Weaver is holding her life together by a thread. Luckily, her six closest friends have the … Luckily, her six closest friends have the perfect cure for heartbreak: a weekend in the countryside complete with relaxation, a blind date, and all the wine she can handle.
But it isn’t long before their night at the secluded rental house goes sour. The drinks flow a little too freely and lingering tensions arise before they’re interrupted by frantic knocking at the door. The stranger claims to have been in an accident, and though her head is bleeding, she refuses to let them call an ambulance.
With Tabitha distracted by her new beau, another friend leaving to check out the scene of the accident, and the rest of the group busy feuding, they lose track of the stranger’s whereabouts. It isn’t until she wakes up with a hangover that Tabitha finds a note on her dresser: Don’t stop until you find it.
Tabitha disregards the note, and the evening, and returns home believing the weekend is behind her. But when the strange woman is reported missing, the police start circling—the group must reexamine their accounts of what happened that night. And the discrepancies in their stories cannot be overlooked. It doesn’t help that the police have discovered clues to suggest foul play.
As the evidence mounts against them, loyalties are tested. Tabitha is desperate to find the truth about what happened to the woman.
Which of her friends is lying? Who can she trust?
A gripping psychological suspense for fans of Kiersten Modglin, Meghan O’Flynn, and Abigail Haas. If you liked Ruth Ware’s In a Dark, Dark Wood , you’ll love What She Found.
“Addictive, terrifying, and absolutely twisted, O’Brien has masterfully crafted a web I couldn’t figure out and won’t soon forget.” -Kiersten Modglin, author of The Good Neighbors

I was a bit disappointed when I started this book and realized it wasn’t part of one of the series this author writes and that I love. That disappointment lasted about three pages and then I realized I should have known better. Nothing Emerald O’Brien writes could be disappointing. Nonstop suspense and tight plotting kept me reading until I finished the book.
This is one of those books that leaves you questioning whether you can ever really know someone and if you can trust those you believe you know.
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily am providing a review.
WHAT SHE FOUND is another great story from Emerald O’Brien, her books never disappoint. She knows to weave a tale that surprises you in the end. Don’t expect a compelling beginning. This is a slow and confusing but compelling mystery that slowly draws you in with the suspense, scandals, cheating, drama and all the twists and turns you could want. You will find yourself turning page after page to find out what happens next, and you won’t be disappointed
The annual get together of friends for a relaxing weekend away turns out to be anything but relaxing. A series of events turns what was once a group of totally supportive friends into accusers of one another as incriminating evidence against various members of the group comes to light.
You’ll definitely get plenty of suspense, thrills, scandal, even some cheating in this excellent and recommended read. There’s also an ending you won’t see coming.
I received an ARC of this story, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This is the first O’Brien book I’ve read and it was fantastic! The twists and turns, the suspense, were all on point. Excellent prose with fabulous character development. I definitely recommend this book. Enjoy!
This is a new to me author and holy cow she did not disappoint! I’d definitely read more of her books in the future.
This book has mystery, suspense, thrills, scandal, and cheating, and a who-done-it all wrapped up in one! Such a good plot and story line. I couldn’t put it down, I NEEEEEDED to know how it ended. My eyes couldn’t move fast enough.
What She Found by Emerald O’Brien is a mesmerizing, addictive and captivating story of love, loss, and fear. A Psychological Suspense that is twisted, addictive, a page turner, that will kept the reader on the edge of their seat. The fear is tangible, the loss is great and with ties that bind, readers will definitely be in awe.
A definite must read for fans of Psychological thrillers, suspense, mystery and trust.
WHAT SHE FOUND is well crafted, and well excuted. The characters are believable and engaging. Twisted with a bit of everything a reader would expect in a Psychological Suspense and more with a gripping and explosive conclusion.
Highly recommended!

Loved this book great writing lots of twists and turns loved the characters kept my interest from start to finish!! A first for me from this author but it won’t be the last can’t wait to read more from her!!
Emerald O’Brien is masterful at creating stories that keep readers puzzled, frightened and literally on edge, never aware of the twisted shock at the end. That is what makes her latest book, What She Found, the epitome of a thrilling thriller.
It began as a fun get away, then you realize something is off. Then it’s actually astonishing how the planned get away was planned. No spoilers, this story is too good, a must read for thriller fans. You do not want to miss a story this twisted.
Oh boy, Emerald O’Brien sure can write a creepy book that you just can NOT put down! I can usually have an idea of what might be going on, but not this book! I was all so intense and intriguing that all I could do was follow along with Tabbie on this roller coaster ride! This was just so freaking awesome!
This book was really suspenseful and filled with twists and turns. There was just enough elements of mystery to keep the readers guessing. I enjoyed it a lot and it made me think.
“They made a mistake. Whoever’s doing this made a mistake.”
Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!! Holy Hannah, did this one keep me guessing! All the way through, I was saying “oooh, it’s him, I know it” , then “Ooh, maybe it’s her!”, then I’d be back to him, no her, no him. GAH!! I loved it!!
So, this group of friends meets up at a vacation rental. Tabbie, Connor, Liz, Arland, Cassy, Matt, and the newcomer, Wesley. Everything is going great, the booze is flowing, then comes the knock on the door. A stranger in their midst, injured, and someone who’s presence starts the tight bond of these friends to slowly unravel when she disappears without a trace. Here’s where the fun begins!
As the police try to solve the mystery of this missing woman, the group which was the last to see her, start looking at each other with suspicion, doubt, and distrust. The finger pointing is endless, secrets come out that change the friendship dynamic in big ways, and each thinks someone else in the group knows more than they are letting on. Who is lying? Are they all lying? There is more to this stranger and her odd connection to to this group than anyone could have imagined. But, at the end of the day, the truth will come out, and none of them will ever be the same.
I love a thriller with tons of twists and turns! This one had my head spinning!! I couldn’t figure out who did it, or if there was even an “it” to have done!! Whoo hoo!! What a ride!! Definitely grab this one, you won’t be sorry!! And that ending? Well, prepare to be shocked!!!
This was my first read of this author. There is no way I’m stopping here. I will, for sure, be gobbling up everything else she’s written!
WOW!!!!!
Emerald O’Brien has written an action packed, powerful mystery with “What She Found”.
I was literally on the edge of my seat waiting anxiously to find out whodunnit…… of course I was wrong…….
The friendship between this group of friends was complicated and so many deep deceptive secrets showed up throughout the novel!!!
There were so many twists in here that I was literally shaking my head at the end and actually read the ending twice!!!! I had to let it sink in and was just “wowed” again!!!!
I would highly recommend that you read this haunting page turner – you will not be disappointed.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for fair and honest review.
Intense thriller with twists and suspense that just keeps growing.
A group of friends go away on their annual trip. But this trip isn’t like the others. Friends you thought you knew have lives that are based on lies, intrigue and murder. This is an excellent book that moves along at a pace that even though you think you know what is going to happen – it only proves you wrong. A new author for me…but not her last book I will read. I received an early copy of this book from the author. The comments and review are my honest opinion.
This story shows us that you never know who you can trust. A group of longtime friends, who are as close as family, go away for their yearly vacation together. A strange woman shows up in the middle of the night in the pouring rain after having a car accident. When the woman comes up missing the next day, the friends start doubting and questioning each other in search of answers on the missing woman. Many twists and turns until you get to an ending that you didn’t see coming. Definitely a page turner and I highly recommend that you give it a try.
7 friends on their annual getaway. Drinking, fun and games. Then a strange beautiful woman shows up in the middle of a rain storm. After which everything goes wrong..and who is lying?
This is a well-written, fast paced, entertaining suspense novel with an intriguing mystery and interesting characters. It is a real page turner, and its twists and turns will keep you guessing until the end. Ms. O’Brien is an expert at keeping her readers engaged from the beginning of her novels until the very last page.
I received an ARC of this novel and this is my honest review.
What started as a weekend getaway for a group of friends turns to a nightmare. Their story starts in the first chapter and draws you in completely. This twisted psychological thriller is just that a thriller from page one to the end. The characters each have a role and take it seriously as the fingers are pointed and the blame laid out and each new revelation is like peeling an onion, it just leads to more. I don’t know how I found this author but since she has appeared in my life my expectations have been met and exceeded with almost every read. This author has a way of twisting you so far into her story that you have no clue as to what is real and what is imagined until the last chapter. As the revelation spew forth you are left with your jaws flapping. It’s an intense read and with each clue you are left wondering. It’s an amazing read that you wont want to put down until you read the last word and then it’s still gonna take a minute before you can put together the words for the review. I am a big and forever fan of this author and her style.
Full of suspense. What a twist at the end, never saw it coming. The people you thought you could most trust in the world start to doubt each other. Who is telling the truth? Is Karina dead or is she alive? What happened to her? Why did she show up at the weekend getaway of a close knit group of friends, that she supposedly knew no one? Was it by chance or intentional? Who is trying to frame the members of the group? Another winner by Emerald. Her books don’t disappoint. She has a way of weaving a tale that surprises you in the end. Find the answers to the questions by reading this book, well worth your time. Received an ARC and this is my honest voluntary review.
There are so many personal interests hidden and so many plots running parallel to each other that you just have to read this book in one go to discover the truth. A truth that sometimes favours one character and sometimes the others.
A great construction of characters that are supposedly bound by love and trust but in truth are surrounded by lies, deceit and murder. Most enjoyabble reading.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This is a fast paced psychological thriller that captured my interest from the first page. The story has many twists….just when you think you know where the story is going, it takes off in another direction. It will keep you guessing until the last page. Once you start reading, you won’t want to put it down.
This drew me in right away. I was immediately hooked and couldn’t put it down. I couldn’t help but feel sorry for Tabitha. It seemed she always got the short end of the stick. Every time I thought the story was headed one way it changed. I love Emerald’s writing. She keeps me guessing.
