Anna Maria Island was always Morgan’s favorite place in the world. Her grandmother’s home on the beautiful beaches of the Gulf Coast of Florida was inviting and captivating. Surrounded by crystal clear blue water and white sandy beaches, her Grandma Lizzy’s home was a piece of heaven on hearth. That was until Morgan heard the news that her sweet Grandma had passed, leaving Morgan broken-hearted.… Morgan broken-hearted.
Grandma Lizzy always kept family close and she did not disappoint, even after her death. In her final letter she included a bucket list that Morgan had created as a child. Leaving her tiresome dead-end job in Pennsylvania, Morgan heads to Anna Maria Island to begin the bucket list journey that Grandma Lizzy had left her. All the while Cade Tyler, her charming best friend from her childhood tags along.
Returning back to her childhood hometown of Anna Maria Island and spending time with Cade, Morgan begins to remember what matters the most to her. The bucket list won’t be an easy journey. It will force her to face the pain and issues in her past as she begins to fall for her best friend who has been there all along.
Just when Morgan’s heart begins to heal, a meeting with a newcomer into Anna Maria Island leaves her questioning everything she thought she knew.
Will Morgan be able to fulfill Grandma Lizzy’s dying wish and complete the bucket list? Or will the secrets from her past haunt her and threaten any hope she has at a happy future and true love?

I enjoyed the beginning of this series. Its sad that Morgan lost her grandma Lizzie. Although I do like that in order for Morgan to get her inheritance she has to complete a couple of tasks. Morgan makes her best friend Cade help her with her tasks. I received a free arc copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
What Means the most by Hazel Taylor
Short story of a woman who returns to where her grandmother lived on the island of a few thousand where everybody knew you and your troubles.
She meets up with the boy that was like a brother to the family and he is there to welcome her back to the island. He’s back from fighting the war and she’s there to bury her grandmother.
Reading of the will the family find everybody was included in her generosity and the house and special instructions are left for Morgan.
The grandmother had kept something of hers when she was just a young teen and she wanted her to complete the wishes…
Quite the list and Cadence will help her finish them all.
This is the first book in the series and there are four in total.
Excerpt from the next book in the series is also included.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
I guess I’m new to this ‘novella-part-of-a-series’ thing. The is the second one I’ve happened upon. I kind of feel like it’s an author’s way of getting us to buy snippets of a book an affordable bit at a time (.99, very doable). I guess I’m deciding that they’re not really my thing. I prefer a solid novel where I get to know the characters gradually and it’s not as based on story line, but evolves more organically.
I feel like this novella was like a movie trailer. I did like the dialogue, the characters and minor characters, and the plot. I wasn’t really that into the drinking or referencing past ‘normal’ life choices like infidelity and experimenting with drugs and heavy drinking. I would have continued, though, because I was interested enough in what came about with the plot that was introduced.
Now that there’s a break in the reading (I was asked to continue on with the series upon finishing this novella), I feel a bit of relief after the annoyance passed. I’d rather invest my time in reading something that REALLY brings me joy, inspires me to live life, and is well edited and a work of art.
(there were a handful of typos and grammatical errors, so I kind of felt gypped. I want to read a finished product that is someone’s best work. I was given a free copy in an offer, so maybe the copy I had wasn’t a final one.)
When she was little she made a bucket list. Her grandmother must have thought she needed to explore life better as when she passed away a stipulation to inheriting everything she needs to do it. He best friend for many years a man comes with her. And surprise she has deeper feelings for him. A feel good entertaining story. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
What Means the Most – This is my first book by this author and I was not happy with the lack of editing. I have a problem with the disrespect given Mom, Dad, Grandma, etc., when addressing family members by using lowercase. This is grade school level, not PhD level English. It is sight, not site; learn the definitions of words.
The fact that one book is cut into four parts of maybe 50 pages each, could not find the page count on book four, did not tickle my funny bone.
Cade and Morgan are good characters and finishing the bucket list together is an interesting idea. But the continuous editing mistakes and then just a 48 paged pamphlet disguised as a “book” guarantees I will not be reading anything more by this “author”.
I found this mess on Booksprout. 1*
Going back to her origins and to the people she loved and cared most in life, Morgan faces her mostly happy past and her friends. She feels like she have never left town and is surprised as her friendship with Cade seems to be stronger than ever in spite of the time they have lived apart and without making contact. It´s an easy to read story with relatable characters and situations.
This book is a cute budding romance between 2 childhood friends. This book involves 2 childhood friends turning into a couple possibly, gotta read book 2 to find out. Also involved is a childhood bucket list. A death has brought these 2 friends together. This book was exceptionally well written. I loved this short story and hoping book 2 will be just as great. Even though I have book 2, I do cannot wait to read it and see what happens.
The author has given us characters we can connect with. Morgan reconnects with Cade when she returns to her home town when her grandmother dies. In order to receive her inheritance, she needs to complete a bucket list she wrote when she was eight. She convinces Cade to join her in the challenges. Grandma Lizzy has always wanted the best for Morgan, and apparently continues to help Morgan from the grave.
This is the first book in the Island Series and is a great start to the series. The location is the beautiful gulf coast of Florida. Morgan gets reunited with her childhood friend when she returns to her grandmother’s home after her death. She’s inherited her home but it’s has one condition. She must complete her bucket list that she started as a child. It does end with a cliffhanger but it overall a good story. The book was on a free promotion and I downloaded it via Amazon at that time.
